As a guy that has to move my own gear, weight is a seriously important factor. I've shopped and purchased a few different brands of light weight drum hardware, and they all have issues with sturdiness and stability, until the Yamaha HW3 crosstown hardware came along.The GOOD: Not just lighter than standard level hardware.... MUCH MUCH MUCH lighter. And this stuff is WAY more solid than other low weight gear, and it does so while still being the lightest on the market (as far as my research shows). This doesn't have any effect on me because I don't use a double pedal, but if you do, you may find yourself not being happy with this stand. The lack of a spring isn't an issue for me, because the tension is exactly where I would set it, but for you it may be an issue if you like it tighter.Overall, this is the sturdiest AND the lightest hardware in its class, and while the price isn't low budget by any means, it's worth every penny and then some. I'm really glad I took the chance and made this purchase.

I cannot begin to describe how awesome these are. I mean they are just drum hardware, and so they are an incredibly boring kind of thing, but its just they are soo light, and yet sooo stable. I have a compact pancake style drumset, and now that whole drumset fits in a bag the size of a 20 inch kick drum. And with this hardware being so light and small, its just an incredible combination.

I bought these to replace Pearl medium duty stands and hi-hat gear. The pluses: VERY well made, and very high quality. They are indeed very light weight. Using my digital scales, they weigh roughly half of what my stand steel stand weigh. My only complaint: Due to the slightly "textured" finish of the aluminum stands, there is a lot of friction in the plastic collar that surrounds the tube (that permits the legs to slide on the tube and collapse when putting up and breaking down). There is a learning curve to how to position the stands in order to get the legs to move when setting up. Otherwise, perfect. You may also want to check out DW's light-weight set (I opted for Yamaha as I do not care for flat-bottom hardware as in DW's offering).

Time will tell on how this hardware holds up. I only gig one to two times a week and it seems good for that. I was very surprised to find the cymbal stands stay in place pretty good, even after a lot of crashing. The snare stand works perfect and was solid. The Hi Hat has no adjustments, no spring tension, no leg swivel and the base seems slightly thin. The preset spring tension worked well for me and will probably work fine for most. They folded up nicely and packed back into the bag easy. The cost is about the same as any quality hardware but once you pick up everything with one hand and drag it to your vehicle, your back will think it was well worth the investment.
I recently purchased a Breakbeats kit by Questlove. I have two other larger kits and when I wanted to use the smaller kit, I would have to steal select pieces of hardware from my other kits. This proved to be hassle for many reasons, different positioning, disrupting my memory locks from my other setups, etc. So... I finally broke down and bought the Yamaha HW3 series. I shopped around quite a bit, but it was Yamaha's NAMM video debuting this lightweight pack that sold me one it. It's every bit as good as they reviewed and presented. I can toss my entire kits into my little Acura coupe, it great!!

With more and more local gigs where the luxury of a "roadie" doesn't exist, I was killing myself eith a fully loaded hardware case.The Yamaha Cross Town set is iNCREDIBLE. With the basic set, an extra cymbal stand or two, a heavy bass pedal and some other odds and ends, I can lift my hardware case with one hand without exerting myself.Now, all Yamaha needs to do is make a compatible boom stand and make add on parts more readily available, and this package will be the number one choice for "on the go" ... MoreI've been using hardware from the same company for a very long time. Compromise is expected, there are no boom stands. Ive grown accustomed to a nice ball socket tilter on my snare. Also the hi-hat needs to be disassembled to fit in the provided bag, its time consuming, and the hi-hat legs do not rotate to accommodate double bass drum pedals. One other issues is the included caring bag is not wide enough to carry a rug for set up. That being said, these stands are very nice, quality, lightweight stands that do the job they were intended to do. Lightweight & compact, for my Jazz gigs they definitely fill the bill.
Ordered the Yamaha HW3 Advanced Lightweight Hardware Pack based on favorable reviews so here is one more for the record. This hardware gets it's lightness from the aluminum tubing and legs (all the hubs, joints and holders are steel). You can literally pick up the hi-hat stand with one finger. Playing on this hardware I can't really notice a difference in stability vs the significantly heavier double braced or even single braced steel stands. So I will repeat what other users have already stated: what are you waiting for? If you are tired of heavy drum hardware, buy the Yamaha HW3 Hardware Pack. It is a game changer. Good job Yamaha!
I wanted to lighten my hardware bag as much as possible without sacrificing quality, playability or stability. This HS-3 hardware pack is truly impressive. It's astonishing how light these stands are, yet they're totally stable. Two things I want to mention: 1) I was concerned that my snare drum would not fit the snare basket since I use a 14" snare with wood hoops, which means the outer diameter of my snare is 16" due to the 1" wood hoop. But like most wood hoops, the bottom hoop has a cutout at the snare bed which makes it actually around 15 ½"...it fits just fine in the snare basket.And,2) The Hi-Hat stand is great - very smooth and responsive. Even though it's not adjustable, I like it better than my heavier duty Yamaha HH stand. These stands are designed for the drummer who works a lot, carries his own equipment, and plays in limited space situations - in other words, like most of us! They are light weight yet sturdy and very well built. My hardware case went from 68 lbs. with my mid-weight steel stands to 38 lbs. with these. That might not sound like that much, but you really notice the difference at the end of the night! With reasonable care, I expect these to last quite a while. Keep in mind, though, they don't offer a boom cymbal stand for a reason, and you don't want to hang a rack tom off of one of these, either. It's a trade-off, but it's worth it, and, as long as you're not an extremely hard player, you'll really appreciatethe weight savings these offer.
