Yamaha MG10 Mixer

I bought this for a livestream where I needed to run three microphones.One of the features that I found really appealing is the inbuilt compressor. Unfortunately this is only available on the first two channels. All in all I found it good for my purpose - being able to manage gain and EQ across multiple channels in a live environment.It's no RodeCaster Pro II, but it's not priced like one, either! Actually good value for money.I would certainly consider the "F" model with the faders for ease of use as well, although another benefit of this one is it has a reasonably small footprint.

For the price, an excellent mixer for my practice room. I don't use it for recording so I can't speak to that, but it probably would work well at a small venue gig. My last cheap (Behringer) mixer didn't have an on/off switch and leaked heat which would waste power: this one does not.

Can't beat it for the money

I've used Behringer, Mackie, and now this Yamaha mixer. The Mackie is fine but it doesn't have a mid range equalizer. (I have that hooked up to my laptop.) The Behringer mixer lasted 1 month before zonking out (I awoke one morning...to the sound of thunder. But it wasn't Bob Seger's night moves; it was the Behringer mixer going bonkers. It was hooked up to my TV and a pair of Klipsch 2.1 Promedia speakers and it was emitting an ear splitting, piercing, rumbling sound.) I unplugged it and that stopped the ear splitting sound, but afterwards there was a hissing/noisy sound coming out of both speakers so it was time to send it back. I got this Yamaha to replace the Behringer. What a difference. It's lightweight, and that seems to turn some folks off. But so far I've had nothing but good vibrations from this mixer. Just don't make the mistake I initially did and think you need some sort of special cables/jacks for the first 4 channels. They take 1/4" plugs and XLR plugs as well. (It didn't seem as if the hole was big enough to accommodate 1/4" plugs, but it is.) Highly recommended.

Clarity & Presence in a Bare Bones Package

Had my doubts about this small, lightweight mixer and thought I wanted a few more options, but also liked its petite size and light weight. My ~5 y-o Mackie ProFX-8 started having Mon Out issues and I'd parted with my trusty, old (very heavy) powered Yamaha mixer. The main thing I wanted was clear, accurate sound as well as reliability, which Yamaha is known for. Bottom line: I'd have gotten this if it had been out there when I'd bought the Mackie. I've wanted to go back to Yamaha. So, I read about it and thought I'd take it home and try it out. WOW!! There is simply no comparison. I play a very wide variety of music; from Cat Stevens to some Foo Fighters and Green Day and this handles them all. I thought I'd miss faders but, seriously, they tend to collect dust and debris gig after gig and just make the board longer. I'd like a Main Mute button, as this is very handy for performers taking breaks or fiddling with settings while on stage. But it's not a deal breaker, either. And, I just don't find myself using onboard Effects or EQs. I do have my own vocal and guitar boxes (my Sound). Sure there may be rooms or spaces where an EQ is handy but, for me, it's rare when I can't solve the issue on the instrument/box side. Of course, these options are all available on the levels just above the MG10, but I'm looking to strip down the unnecessary, to decrease size/weight/rig complexity and I've got the sound I want w/o duplication on the mixer. Further, it's not atypical to have a house engineer in the bigger, better venues, anyway. Again, for me, it's all about getting the best sound with the shortest distance from voice & instrument to speakers; with reliability. Man, at this price and small # of channels, the sound quality is unbeatable, hands down.

Great basic mixer

I bought this as a way to give myself more audio inputs in my home music room. I have only a 2 input audio interface, but with the mixer I am able to run 2 amps being miced, a keyboard, and 2 vocal mics while still having multiplel line inputs available. The eq tool is basic but can be helpful for eliminating unhelpful noise or boosting in certain areas if need be. Not to mention the first two XLR in's have a compression as well which I find slightly helpful in certain settings. This is a basic mixer but for what it offers and the price point its a great piece of equiptment. Yamaha makes good products and this does not stray from their quality.

Great mixing desk

A bit larger than I thought but has a sturdy build with signs of flimsy parts. It is what you would expect from Yamaha. Has a jack connection and separate volume control for your monitor. Plenty of channels to connect to for solo musicians or a small band. I opted for the version without fx, as I already have a vocal processing pedal that covers these needs. Works well to clean up the sound on my Mackie Thump 12a and sorted the bottom end sound problem I was having with the sound.

Yamaha Confusion!

My beef is with Yamaha, not ProAudioStar. Their customer service is very good, and is working to help me out. Apparently, Yamaha makes a version of this board with effects, and one without effects. The problem is that they use the same color scheme and look almost identical. I bought the wrong version, and am now in the middle of a return, but I need the board. I have been told by customer service that this happens fairly often. Perhaps Yamaha should manufacture the different versions of their boards using different colors to help out with this confusion. Looking forward to receiving the correct board as I have shipped the original board back.

Yamaha MG10

I got this mixer as I needed more inputs to use for online guitar lessons. This thing sounds great and works amazingly for this purpose. The preamps are pretty good with xlr mics meaning I don't need any boosters. Easy to use display meaning I get an independent volume control for each source. The flexibility of different outputs make it great for all purposes.

Yamaha MG10 Mixing Desk

I have to say this Yamaha MG10 Mixer is ideal for our venue space which we cater for all different events from Birthday parties, Launch parties Fashion shows, Art events. It arrived the very next day after ordering and the setting up and operating the mixer is very straightforward and easy. Having all of our equipment running through this MG10 Mixer makes all the difference especially with the sound. I have to say this mixer is worth every penny.

Yamaha MG-10 analogue mixer, affordable, fairly solid and well made, I like the screw-on mains connection. I also like Yamaha products in general, a dependable manufacturer. I am using the mixer for a live rehearsal set-up, plugging in a drum machine (using two channels for left-right stereo panning), two guitars and two microphones. There are seven channels available, mixing is straightforward and easy. I have the main outputs connected to two active speakers, and the MG-10 acts as a competent pre-amp for these. I also have the monitor outputs connected to a recorder so I can make a recording of the songs, very clear and great quality sound.
