The smooth yet sturdy feel of the keyboard itself, although somewhat heavier than I thought, you could feel the quality. I've been doing intensive shopping for portable keyboards and am seriously considering buying this model. However I'm seeing multiple web postings about owners who either have defective display right out of the box, or displays that go bad after a few months. These displays are hard to read, as parts of the screen go dim. Jeremy See, a professional who has detailed reviews of electronic keyboars on YouTube, has a video criticizing Yamaha for continuing to ship keyboards with this defect and of being resistant to addressing the problem and fixing it for people stuck with defective keyboards.

Able to set multiple beats and styles to then play with. I am very happy we found this keyboard! Rene did a great job showing me how to use the features! He even followed up with a phone call days later to see how it was going. Awesome customer support!

I wanted a keyboard that was both inexpensive and had lots of voices and the PSR-E453 was exactly what I was looking for. I've only had it for a week, so I can't give it a thorough review, but after connecting the USB cable to my computer and downloading/installing the keyboard driver from Yahama, I was up and running and recording. The voices I've tried are true-sounding enough for what I need (some are better than others), and I'm looking forward to trying out other available features. If you're in the market for a full-size, professional keyboard with a true piano feel, this isn't it. But if you're just starting out or if you're looking for voices to enhance a recording and you don't want to spend a whole lot of money, this keyboard is worth your consideration.
I'm a gigging musician. I recently sold my Tyros 5 (great but too heavy!!!) and bought a Yamaha PSR SX700.It's a really good keyboard BUT I quickly realised that the SX900 is far better & far more expensive. I bought one and kept my SX700 as my reserve keyboard. What a waste! I read the write-ups on the Yamaha PSR E473 - a much cheaper keyboard - which appeared to have nearly all the properties I required if ever the SX900 played up, albeit to a limited extent. I visited Absolute Music and spent quite some time trying the E473 out. In the end I bought one and now I'm going to advertise my SX700 on ebay in the near future.
What a terrific piece of kit for the money. Great features, great speakers, great functionality. Importantly for us the menu functions are far more logical than other models, especially the Roland. This means we need fewer steps to change between settings which is smart.
Borrow a few features such as realistic voices, powerful effects, multi-track recording, and accompaniment styles from just about every current Yamaha keyboard. Distill them into one attractive, versatile, fun, and extremely affordable sound machine, and you have the amazing Yamaha PSR-E473.
I only purchased this keyboard because my 10 year old daughter was always wanting to fiddle with my new PSR-SX900 and I wanted some peace. Well it worked. My daughter is very, very happy with it.This keyboard is suitable for beginners and also has enough features to keep more advanced users happy.Definitely worth the money!
Had this keyboard for a few weeks now, but as only a beginner cannot really give proper review as only learning to play. However this keyboard offers much more than I can ever really use. The voices on the whole are very good and it takes some time to listen to them all.This is not conducive to good practice asa lot of pleasure just fooling around trying out various voices.All in all , a very accomplished set of voices, plenty of different rhythms and all that is required is the skill to play it, which unfortunately, I do not have. would love to hear someone with good skills give a demo on this instrument.W.Foster
As a keyboardist and music lover, my equipment has to be on point. I have had other keyboards in the past, that just did not meet the requirements of this BAD BOY !!!! This keyboard is KING and if your not impressed with this amazing instrument, then i suggest you switch to something more boring like a casio.
