Early 2000s Yamaha YHR-567 Intermediate Double French Horn purchased new and played regularly from approximately 2002-2006, but has not been played at all, or tuned up, since 2006. It has been sitting untouched in its case for the last 14 years. The horn has a few minor dents and some scratches across the bell, but no mechanical damage whatsoever that I'm aware of. Due to sitting for so long, the 1, 2, and 3 keys are stuck, though the thumb key works fine; some valve maintenance and a tune up should address this easily. The horn is in great working condition otherwise and, despite its age, has not experienced many years of use and is "low mileage". It was an excellent and reliable horn during the years it was played, and surely will be again once it is tuned up.

I purchased this horn for my 11 year old budding musician on the advice of his horn teacher. He did have a chance to try one before the purchase and it was 'a perfect fit'. He is a keen player in the school orchestra and brass ensemble and I am assured that this will be his horn 'for life'. It is beautiful and the sound is deep and resonant. He enjoys playing it and is very respectful of this lovely instrument. The team at Music123 were extremely helpful and answered all of the many questions I had, prior to purchase. The horn arrived earlier than expected and has been lovingly played every day since. Many thanks.

It made a very good sound, I did not buy it but a man named Gregory allowed me to test it out in-store, and it sounded great!

I love this horn. It is as well-made (or better) than any other mass production horn out there, and it is remarkably consistent from instrument to instrument. A young student can begin using it comfortably and confidently, and an efficient pro can get an amazing amount out of it as well. It is eminently well suited for use in smaller settings, notably wind quintets and other chamber ensembles. It gets a color not available to many of its "brawnier" cousins, and allows for a great deal of sensitivity in playing.I would love to see a couple of things change, small things that would not appear to make much difference in the cost of producing the instrument but that would make it even more flexible. The biggest would be changing the 3 main valve levers from a one-piece design to the jointed design common on more expensive horns now (and already present on the Bb change valve.)As they are now, the change valve lever allows an enormous amount of flexibility for hand size, but the main valves are not nearly as flexible, and often require some bending to allow the valve levers to move evenly past the underside of the valves (which is never good, and should be avoided if at all possible, or at the very least should be done by a competent professional instrument repairman.)Overall, this is a great instrument that is a pleasure to play.
