Brought this brilliant esky with the largest icepack.Flew to Melbourne with it in my suitcase and used it every day on the 10 day road trip across Vict and SA.Stayed in motels so was able to freeze the icepack overnight. Also took a thermos and portable picnic back pack.Was able to stock up on food at Woollies every couple of days so to travel with this magical esky was wonderful.Best aspect stopping throughout the day to have a coffee, make a sandwich in the most beautiful places without having to wander around small towns looking for food.Even had those frozen meals so could zap away at night in motels.Never about saving money on food, more about the convenience of having a mini fridge full of stuff exactly when it was needed.

My 2nd Hopper, actually my 3rd since YETI replaced my 1st. LOVE these coolers BUT the bottom corners crush with little usage especially if you have a Dry Pack attached. It hasn't affected the cooler (yet) but just looks terrible. YETI can do better. My 2nd cooler corners are severely crushed, but inside is perfect. YETI told me to go ahead and keep using it, so I am, but I wanted the black so just got this one. Like I said, the coolers are great! Holds lots of wine, easy to carry, stays cool, no leaking, just wish they would fix the squishy corners. Mine goes with me everywhere and does a lot of 4x4ing as well. Well worth the money. And YETI's return policy is awesome as well as their customer service. You get what you pay for.

From the moment this was unboxed you could see and feel the quality of construction. The zipper is extremely durable and seals the interior very well. Yeti included zipper was to help glide the zipper along the teeth while maintaining its water tight seal. The interior is typical to most competitive products. I use this on my fishing kayak to keep my refreshments cool during the 100+ degree Arizona summer days. Provided I cool the hopper itself it keeps everything super cool throughout the day. It is hard to find a way to cool the cooler when on camping trips however. So the next few days the cooler doesn't do as well even with the Yeti Slim Ice inserted. By mid day the Hopper is losing its ability to keep the contents cool. I bought this cooler for my husband to use as a lunchbox for work. I give 3 stars mainly because my husband loves it and the color is nice; I would give it 2 if I purchased for myself. My biggest complaint is that it arrived with a broken clip on one side of the shoulder strap. I filled out a warranty claim and at submission was told I would be contacted in 1-2 business days. It is day 10 and I have not heard anything from customer service, even after emailing them inquiring about the status of my claim. Further, I purchased the Yeti thin ice to go with it and very disappointedly, it is thawed less than 8 hours in an air conditioned office. I opened up the 12 Quart Soft Cooler in King Crab Orange, and it had an odor similar to opening a bottle of ammonia. I let it "air out" on the porch for almost 2 yours, and it still had the odor. Concerned that the odor would leach into my food, I contacted customer support and spoke with Peter, he sent me a link to fill out a warranty claim, which I did and have NOT heard a response from Yeti to date.The cooler has been airing out in my garage since I received it, and it still has the odor. I love this cooler! I bought this one as a gift for a wedding as we already have one that we love and use constantly. It is the perfect size for day trips. Is lightweight, easy to clean, and (like all YETI coolers) does an incredible job at keeping food cold. We have two small kiddos and this is a lifesaver. We get so many compliments on it too.I have bought many many YETI products over the years both for personal use and also to use for raffle items at corporate events. The durability, design elements, and usability are like none other. I love YETI and will stand behind the brand. They are the real deal. 10/10 highly recommend. In order to travel to Japan and stay for a year, he needed to take a large supply of medication that needed to be kept within a certain temperature range at all times. We started reading about how to protect the meds while traveling 25+ hours, and then staying weeks in a hotel while waiting for his assignment (so much info on the internet, but nothing we could count on). Yeti bubbled to the surface as the premier cooler and a trip to Dick’s ensued. We purchased the Hopper Flip (18). It took several iterations of how much ice to use and how long the temp would hold, but eventually we got it right. The meds and “ice” fit perfectly and the proper temps were maintained for the 32 hours from Pennsylvania to Tokyo. After his arrival, our son put the meds in the hotel fridge and found that the fridge was actually less reliable than the Yeti!! Fast forward 10 weeks. Our son has moved to at least a half dozen different hotels and has relied each time on the Yeti to protect his expensive medication. Having the Yeti perform at this level has eased his (and our) mind and allowed him to enjoy his travel experience instead of constantly worrying about whether or not his meds are safe. We can’t thank Yeti enough for living up to the hype!!! Perhaps other travelers can learn from this experience. We are true believers!

But he could’ve used more than 5 packs when liner wasn’t pre-chilled.He had no trouble with any of the 3 airlines he used - he carried this cooler on as a carry bag and 12 cooler fit in the overhead compartments on Swiss Air, Helvetica Air, and Lufthansa. I did investigate if Swiss Air would not count this a carry on, but as medically necessary equipment (so he could bring a carry on bag as well), but Swiss Air said no, it qualified as a carry on. I didn’t bother asking the other airlines after that refusal.Hope this review helps anyone else who has to fly with refrigerated meds. We will keep this cooler to use on future trips or when the electricity fails and our fridge gets too warm, and I purchased a second cooler (the 8) when it was on sale. That smaller cooler will be for trips that are shorter in length (and therefore require less meds). Our son did say that the 12 got a little heavy to haul through multiple airports.

One of my favorite uses is using it to transport our favorite 7inch cake in the box. I’ve used this to carry just drinks a couple times and it’s able to store a decent amount of cans I’d say around 8 with some room for snacks and ice.I’ll admit I often skip the regular ice and just chuck in a couple of the yeti ice blocks for most uses. The 4 pound yeti ice fits perfectly at the base. With just the yeti ice it’ll keep its content cold for most of the day, I can get a good 6-8 hours just on the yeti ice. For longer haul drives or if I’m storing sensitive foods, I’ll opt for ice in addition to the yeti ice and it works great. It’s a soft cooler, so there will be some heat loss and ice will melt quicker than in a traditional hard cooler, but for the convenience and size it does a great job.The zipper is tough and at times hard to open, especially with one hand. You need a firm grip to open and close the zipper and make sure it is sealed. I don’t mind the zipper if it means durability and better insulation.I was also interested in this product because of its modification abilities. While I haven’t had the chance to try out some of the add-ons like the case or bottle opener, there are plenty of loops on the cooler to latch different items to.Overall very impressed with the quality, color choice, and cooling power of this yeti product.
