The only reason I am writing this is because you expect perfection when you pay premium prices for a cup. A few years back I got the Rambler 18 bottle with hotshot cap. I am a world traveler and bring it almost always. I had an issue with it leaking all over my backpack on one of my flights. This was extremely inconvenient as everything got wet. After I got back to the USA I completed the warranty process regarding the product. The agent stated not to put anything hot into the cup and sent me a new top. When I buy a product I always read the care/use etc. guide. I never saw that I couldn’t put hot liquids in it. It even says on the Yeti website I could. What I am getting at is, train your folks Yeti. If the cup is not meant for hot liquids, then it should not be on ... MoreThe only reason I am writing this is because you expect perfection when you pay premium prices for a cup. If there was a defect like I saw Yeti reply to in another review then send a whole new cup, not just a top. The saying “ you get what you pay for “ is not always correct. With all that being said, I love the design.

OK I have Yeti product I really love: the Yeti 20 oz tumbler is a great cold drink car cup, for instance. the 14 oz mug with magslider lid is the best hot drink Yeti ever, and I use a WeatherTech CupCoffee adapter to make those mugs work in cupholders - excellent! and the 18 oz bottle with the Chug Cap is grate for day hikes or for clipping to a paddleboard. However: the 18 oz Hotshot Bottle with HotSHot cap is not so great. As a Thermos it is pretty lousy - making pours from this Hotshot into a cup will almost always involve some dribbles - not so great for in the car. and drinking hot coffee (while it stays really hot) is not comfortable as you have to tip the bottle way up and never quite know when scalding coffee is going to hit your mouth. nice idea but a less ... MoreOK I have Yeti product I really love: the Yeti 20 oz tumbler is a great cold drink car cup, for instance. the 14 oz mug with magslider lid is the best hot drink Yeti ever, and I use a WeatherTech CupCoffee adapter to make those mugs work in cupholders - excellent! and the 18 oz bottle with the Chug Cap is grate for day hikes or for clipping to a paddleboard. However: the 18 oz Hotshot Bottle with HotSHot cap is not so great. I'd stick with 14 oz Tumblers and pack extra coffee in a 24 oz Thermos brand product with a totally no-drip pour. Just sayin.

I'm bummed and surprised to be leaving this review. I fully expected this bottle to be superior to the many other insulated water bottles I've had over the years - not because it was more expensive, it wasn't. The price point was about the same. I thought it be better because it's a Yeti product. Unfortunately, I find the design to be poor. The bottle has both a screw-on lid and a screw-on chug spout. While I like that you can unscrew the chug spout giving you a wide mouth for filling with ice, if the spout isn't screwed on quite tightly enough, it will leak all over your chest when you drink OR it will also come off when you only want to unscrew the lid. Alternately, if you tighten it a little too much, it becomes really challenging to remove. Finally—and most ... MoreI'm bummed and surprised to be leaving this review. This Yeti lives up to the reputation as far as keeping the beverage hot or cold. It is also leak proof as described! The size is great and the shape is comfortable to hold. The reason for my 3 star review is that you cannot tell by looking at the lid if it is open or closed and I was often opening/closing it unnecessarily. Once without paying attention I thought it was closed and threw it in my bag but I was mistaken and it leaked everywhere (operator error, but frustrating). I was also not a fan of the process it takes to clean the lid. Popping out the mechanism that allows it to be leak proof was very hard for me. My husband had to use his strength to separate the two pieces to clean. Overall, a great leak proof option, I will not return the cup, but it will not ... MoreThis Yeti lives up to the reputation as far as keeping the beverage hot or cold. I've had this for about a month. Bought the stainless steel version. I use it to take coffee to work as I'm a tight ars*. Perfect size for an Aussie large latte. It's really well designed. The wide mouth makes it very easy to clean properly which is the main reason I bought this to replace the Thermos I was using, which was impossible to clean properly at work. The hot shot cap works really well and again is very well designed for easy cleaning.Where it falls down is keeping things hot. I usually make my coffee around 8am and drink it around 10am and for 2 hours, it works well. The coffee is still hot. But once, I had a few meetings and didn't get to it until about 2pm and by this time it was luke warm. But once, I had a few meetings and didn't get to it until about 2pm and by this time it was luke warm. To help maintain heat I always warm it up by filling with boiling water first and then emptying it just before I put the shot, then the milk in.I've got a Japanese thermos I bought in the 90s that keeps boiling water almost boiling for two days. Even a week later, it's still warm. It's nothing like that.Saying all that, I still love it and use it every day. It fits in the side pockets of my backpack perfectly and doesn't fall out. It fits in the cup holder in my BMW X1 but only just. It looks cool.I've only had one mishap when I had been drinking coffee and had the hot shot cap open, picked it up with some other stuff and bent over to pick up something else and spilt coffee everywhere. It's difficult to tell if the cap is open or closed but there's a lesson there to check it every time. But I'd highly recommend this product for take away coffee as long as you drink it within about two hours or so.
I have a few Rambler 20oz tumblers with the Mag-lock lids and I love them! They do a great job of keeping my water and drinks cold. However, they are not leak proof and can't be thrown in a backpack. So, I decided on the 20 oz HotShot Bottle. I don't drink coffee often, but the functionality of the lid seemed a better option as a water/drink bottle than the Chug Lid for me. The Chug Lid requires two hands to take a drink and a cap that can be lost. It turns out that I do not like the HotShot lid. It has to be screwed on and the opening tightened just right to be leak proof. Even then, it has to be tested every time it is put back in my bag to be sure it won't leak (which is often). It is disappointing that the 18 oz bottle does not have the option of being purchased initially with the Straw Cap and it has to be purchased separately. I do love the new red color though!
Finally a truly leakproof and simple travel mug!My husband and myself have previously purchased another well known brand of travel mugs and, although they work well and are lovely to use they are not leakproof when put into a rucksack or bottom of the buggy and the lids have so many pieces they are NOT easy to clean. The YETI hotshot is not only 100% leakproof but the design is so wonderfully simple and easy to clean! Add to this the whole thing is dishwasher safe, they keep your drinks hot and are not bank breaking in price then it’s a no brainier of a purchase.Highly recommended.I’ve waited to review until they’d been throughly tested but I could’ve written it almost immediately I was so impressed. This little guy is my constant companion. It's just the right size to bring with me pretty much anywhere. It fits in my purse, in my car, in my backpack's water bottle sleeve, and in the cupholder of my kids' stroller. It has never once leaked (and it's been tossed into things sideways and upside down on numerous occasions). It's durable. It's easy to clean. It's a delightful yellow color. I usually make my tea at night and it's still hot in the morning. There are no tricky mechanisms to break or stain. It's a super simple and effective design. I have had this bottle for months now, and hands down it is my favorite bottle of all time. It holds cold and hot. It does everything, camping, horseback riding, office sleeping (working of course), and most importantly carrying everywhere I go. 18 oz fits almost every drink you can get out and about, it is also not super heavy. I would also like to summarize my experience with every Rambler Lid Available:Chug Cap-This cap to me is the ideal middling option. It is the default of most Yeti Rambler Bottles for a good reason. It allows for cold drinks to be refiled very quickly. My grandmother (80 years old) can open these without an issue. It is my favorite cap if I NEED a handle. It allows for cold drinks to be refiled very quickly. My grandmother (80 years old) can open these without an issue. It is my favorite cap if I NEED a handle. The negative of this cap is that you must hold the cap while drinking, no matter how you slice it this is inconvenient and makes it hard to use in the car without leaving the cap off.Straw Cap-I do not like straws, however, I have used this cap for many purposes. Mainly horseback riding, which, it performs amazingly. The biggest benefit of this cap is that it allows for quick 1 handed access to any size Yeti Rambler Bottle without the need to lift it off a desk or above your chin. The biggest negative in my opinion is that it uses a straw, and those that struggle with straws know they make you burp, they can cause leaking all over the bottle, they also are not to great for your intestines/stomach overall.Hotshot Cap-This is my best friend’s favorite cap. I swear his blood is half coffee at bare minimum. This cap is good for hot drinks, and is now also sold as a default for Yeti Rambler Bottles. Just like the Chug Cap, this is a default for a reason. If you are the opposite of me, and drink 90% hot drinks and 10% cold then this was made for you. The negative of this cap is that fitting my big fingers inside to release the goodness is difficult.Magdock Cap-My first love was the Magdock Cap. It solved all issues I had with the Chug Cap. You may place the lid on the side, it matches my Gallon Jug’s cap, you can fill the bottle easily, and I CAN USE IT IN MY TRUCK with one hand. However, the saddest part of this lid is the loss of the handle, and that may be a deal breaker for you. For me, this has demoted it to my second favorite cap. I’d recommend getting the Yeti Sling to go along with it.Cup Cap-My current love for a very specific reason… I like that my drinks can cool off or return closer to room temperature in my work office. I also, grew up with these types of caps on my insulated bottles. This cap keeps its temperature far better than the other ones; however, this might be a personal antidote. It is also a TANK, the weight feels so good, its sooo well made. The largest negative to this cap is how you lose access to the handle. I’d recommend getting the Yeti Sling to go along with it.
It's the perfect size for a single cup of coffee and keeps it hot during my train commute to work...or driving around, or whatever I'm doing that morning. The only BIG problem is that the lid leaked badly right out of the bat at the seal between the stainless rim of the container. Unscrewing, tightening, retightening, loosening a pinch, etc did nothing. I was REALLY bummed. All of the other Yeti gear I have has been bulletproof, almost over engineered and works as intended. The simple fix is to remove the lid gasket and reseat it. I should have done that when I did the initial wash/rinse before filling and running out the door. Very simple fix and now this thing is AWESOME.If I had sent this out the door with my wife this morning, I would've gotten a phone call 5 ... MoreIt's the perfect size for a single cup of coffee and keeps it hot during my train commute to work...or driving around, or whatever I'm doing that morning. I'm glad I took it out for a test drive first.Anyways, before using the hotshot lid for the first time, take off and reseat the gasket. I have seen other complaints out there on the web and can almost guarantee that this simple step would save people a lot of frustration. I'd give it 5 stars aside from the leaky start.
