After two days of intense online research across all Yetis and all other brands, I decided to buy the Yeti 35. The REI membership rebate, plus inclusion of a heavy-duty dry basket, makes $275 (before rebate) a reasonable price for a long-lasting cooler. One design flaw and I'm taking off a star for it: The sharp rope handle knots poke your hands when you try to use the indented hand grips, which I prefer because then you're not using extra muscle power to balance a load on swingy handles. I have small hands; large hands may not even fit there. You do need those two longer handles when two people are carrying, so it's nice to have both types. But the hand grip area should be wider.

I want to like it. But Gods honest truthI’ve been using this for the past several days to hold ice since our fridge went out. And after 24 hours of a bag of ice, more than half the ice is now water. This is going on for at least 5 days till the repair man can fix our fridge. Everyday I buy ice and everyday it melts to water more than over half the bag. I’m just not impressed with the insulation at all. I would expect at least 48 hrs to hold ice. Really dissatisfied, and no I’m not opening it every hour so it should hold ice way longer than this especially for the price.

I bought this 2 weeks ago for a week long canoeing trip with my family of 4. We have another cooler that is Yetiish, but we needed a 2nd option. We eat pretty clean and don't do dehydrated food options when we don't have to on trips. This Yeti was amazing! We canoed for 6 days in Utah down the Green River plue 2 driving days and still had ice in the Yeti when we returned home. We pre-chilled the Yeti with a bag of ice the night before we left town and put frozen precooked meat, bread, and some boiled eggs in the Yeti. We're considering replacing our other cooler with another Yeti so we have 2 amazing coolers for future trips

First off, I have never been a Yeti fan but bought the Tundra 35 as its size mad it the only high performance cooler of its capacity, with a basket, we can use in a specific location. I have for years used old 1/2 gallon milk jugs filled with water and frozen to pre cool my coolers. Did so with the Tundra, over night. Put 6 beverage cans in then 10# ice and as much various food items as I could fit in the basket. It sat in our trailer (no electricity for the AC) at up to 91 degrees (confirmed with a thermometer with memory feature) all day then through the night, opening it about 15 times. Ice appeared to not melt at all. After getting home the next day we emptied all but the ice. Left the cooler sit for an additional day at room temp. I've had my Tundra 35 about 3 years now. The first test i put it through was a dirt bike trip to Moab, UT. It had drinks on ice in a black trailer with sunny days up to 110 degrees. It was the only cooler to hold ice for 24hrs. About 3x longer than everyone elses. I was disappointed at first but I took a trip carrying frozen breastmilk home and 30hrs later it was still frozen with probably 90% of the ice still there too. Would love to get a larger one soon, but very happy with the performance and toughness.

We decided to drive because airfare was a little too expensive. Long story short, I packed the Tundra 35 with ice the day before we left and emptied 3/4 of the ice out for the trip. We left on a wed. And arrived on Saturday in Florida. Everything was either still frozen or extremely cold upon arrival to which I was seriously amazed ! I opened the drain on the cooler and only drained maybe a cup of water from the 3 day trip !! I know these YETI products can seem expensive, but they live up to the hype. My daughter and son have borrowed the cooler from us a couple times and they loved it also. I have been working with disaster relief in Florida and needed to keep a crews lunch cold in the hot weather. Since Yeti has such a great reputation I figured I would splurge for it. The instructions say you need to expect the first bag of ice to be a sacrifice and that was right. I ended up changing roles and now it’s just 2 lunches every other day I need to keep cold and I have to buy way more ice than I was anticipating for that. It doesn’t seem to live up to the hype, maybe if I had to keep things cold for a long period of time it would have been the right choice but in my case I wish I could return it and try the soft sided one, maybe I would be happier with that.

You’re paying near $300 for a cooler that has to be so full of ice to keep cold, that you can barely sneak a 6-pack of cokes in with what little space is remaining. The guidelines for keeping the ice longer seem laughable; “use more ice; don’t open the cooler; chill the cooler first”. I know it’s just simple science, but if you spend this much on a cooler, I’d say it’s not crazy to ask that it hold any amount of ice longer, so that you can actually fit a substantial amount of items worth justifying even having a cooler. This thing lives in my back floorboard, underneath two insulated pads and a few blankets, yet still is melted by day 3, 4 max. I own multiple Yeti products. This 35 compliments my Hopper 8&12, M30, and Roadie 24. I have found that it is better to progressively work through coolers, leaving last in line shut until needed. I just purchased the 35 on sale (20 off!) and am very happy with my purchase. Properly conditioned and following instructions, I am on day 4 as I write this. Test drinks are ice cold and 50% ice is left. I can see this will go another 1-2 days. I left it completely shut for 3 days, then opened it to retrieve beverages. Locks, it is a seat and step stool, right size to load up and carry (people forget how much theses things weigh full). Fits compactly in my car, a little better than my Roadie for height and cabin covers. Expensive, but durable. The only thing I can see would ... MoreI own multiple Yeti products. My least favorite feature is probably the nonslip rubber feet. If you were using this somewhere like a boat I can see how this might be something you want, but I'm using it for camping and travelling, so the cooler is on hotel room carpets, the carpeted floor of my car, or dirt. I have never once been glad the nonslip feet were keeping the cooler in place, but have very regularly wished that I could push it across the floor. As I said, though, this is a minor complaint and inconsequential to the actual function of the cooler.
