Excellent Value

I bought this lens as the first expansion beyond the kit lenses that came with my Canon Rebel T6i. The “nifty fifty” focal length comes highly recommended due to its fast aperture and affordable price, even in the Canon variant. But for me, saving an extra hundred bucks by going for the Yongnuo version was worth the possible drop in quality.Overall, the lens is great. Nice, fast 1.8 aperture allows for fast shutter speeds, and while it’s not the absolute sharpest lens out there, it is perfect for someone that is expanding into fast primes for the first time. Autofocus is noisy compared to USM, but is fast enough to get the job done. I wouldn’t use it for anything with movement, but taking portraits and still life shots were easy enough with this system. Good Cheapy lens does the job, but may not suit everyone.

Listen its a pretty good deal cheapy lens, but there are problems as I found with one I purchased. Firstly the images can be crisp and sharp and i'm still using the one I purchased around 3 years ago. I take on board that for the money your going to get some Chromatic aberration. What is a pain in the neck lets say you have this on auto and you want to focus the lens, It tends to just zip past that focus opint you want, so if you do not mind doing this manually then your good to go. I also have a genuine Canon lens similar so always have one fitted to either of my cameras. Really, if ya can't afford the Canon lens this will do for the moment, I must admit i get some really good shots with this lens. Concerning durability, only time will tell. Some say is at least as sturdy than "Canon 50mm f1.8" - but of course Canon is Canon regarding most other lenses, just fabulous factory. Otherwise, very good "bang for the buck" (god I hate these cliches). Summer will show it's "true colours" of it, spring seems just fine. Bokeh is possible to good extent because of the 7 blades ("lammels", like we say here in Finland also) in this objective - Canon's comparable has 5, more is better. Autofocus seems surprisingly accurate, but there's no "perfect" one, so that's not a problem. Also manual focus to switch for, but it's not full-time like in some Canon's models - even in the past already back in 90's.
