While this product scans barcodes from almost any surface, it DOES NOT scan from any screen (computer and phones etc) which is unfortunately what I needed it to scan. So, if you need to scan barcodes from a screen - this is not for you!

WARNING - THIS IS NOT RAN BY AN USB CABLE. Don't fool yourself with a rushed check-out by just swinging this product into your cart and walk the walk of shame like me. The return cost is very high (aprox. $32). DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE. P.S - Who would wire a scanner with PS2-Y in 2017 in general? Newegg just had to put this product on the front page to bait dummies like me and pay the "shame on you price" for it. It's just too ridiculous.

This simple barcode scanner is easy to use and to program and rivals even some of the much more expensive scanners. I will never pay a lot of money for a barcode scanner ever again. You simply dont need to anymore.

The Zebra / Motorola LS2208 Barcode Scanner USB Kit has been an excellent addition to my store. The USB interface makes it plug-and-play compatible with my computer, and the lack of a stand isn't an issue for my setup. The scanner's black color fits in well with my store's decor. It's incredibly easy to use, and the scanning speed is impressive. I highly recommend this barcode scanner for its simplicity and reliability.
We use these scanners all over our business. They are easy to install, and the quick guide that ships with the scanner allows you to program the scanner to press either or after scanning a barcode without needing to search through pages and pages of programming guides. The Scanner comes with everything you need, so you don't have to struggle to determine which cable or stand you need.Overall, a great product at a great price!
The Symbol LS2208 barcode scanner is the best, lower cost scanner available IMO. It is plug and play with all newer Windows versions when using the USB cable interface. It's also very durable and long lasting, unlike some of the other scanners out there. Features are easy to program such as setting it up to do a carriage return(enter) automatically after each scan. The only downsides to this model is that it is wired and not wireless and that it won't read some of the new very tiny barcodes. However, those tiny barcodes are not catching on, probably because the manufacturers know that most retailers want the larger barcodes in order to be able to scan them.
We bought this to implement barcode receiving at our warehouse. It worked so well we bought two more for our shipping dept. This the only model I saw that comes with a stand for stationary use. The only complaint is that it doesn't come with the factory manual which has a large amount of customizing instructions. However Barcodes Inc. was able to supply the link to the PDF so I was able to get what I needed. Overall great product and great service.
Scanner did not come with the cables. I am having a hard time trying to find the cable that is compatible with the scanner.
We have 40 deployed and functioning well but starting in 2015 this model no longer functions with our equipment's wand connection and the wand emulation cable. The next Symbol model that does is more than double the price. That leaves us scrambling for old stock to be able to continue to support the ones in use and then searching for reasonable replacement.
Didn't come with any documentation and device is not simple plug and play, so had to do some research. Zebra acquired Motorola solutions and handles the scanner lines, but the software that was supposed to connect the scanner to my pc not only didn't work, it actually made the scanner stop working. Unplugging and replugging in made it come on long enough to scan the Reset to Default code so the scanner would come on again, so I kept looking. Finally ran across the LS2208 quickstart guide, which after blowing up the barcodes large enough to get picked up, was able to set it up to do what I needed, which was simple data entry keyboard emulation. So, it was a bit of a hair-puller initially, and Zebra won't offer ANY customer support since it's an old unit out of ... MoreDidn't come with any documentation and device is not simple plug and play, so had to do some research.
