The 52mm Carl Zeiss T* Circular Polarizer Filter from Zeiss helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. A polarizer is able to absorb much of this polarized light and, in turn, increase the saturation of skies and foliage, cut through distant haze, and minimize reflections in glass and on water. A circular polarizer differs from a linear polarizer in that it integrates a quarter wave plane within a linear polarizing filter. The addition of this helps to circularly polarize reflected light, which enables your camera's autofocus and auto-exposure mechanisms to function properly. The T* anti-reflective coating helps to reduce reflections on the filter's surface and promote a better light transmission for high quality imagery. The filter ring is designed with a slim profile to allow its use on wide angle lenses, but front filter threads are still available for the use of additional filters. Helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. Clears up haze in distant landscapes and provides more saturated, vivid colors. Strongest effect when used at a 90° angle from the sun. Circular polarizers are ideal for use with digital cameras and autofocus lenses where a linear polarizer will often disrupt auto exposure and focus features.

The Carl Zeiss UV filter is excellent quality. I've been a photographer since the 1980's and when you have expensive lenses you need to use quality filters. Because there's no point spending thousands of pounds on high-end lens, like the Canon RF 100-500mm f4.5-7.1 and then putting cheap, poor quality filters on. You get what you pay for and Carl Zeiss filters are quality.

I purchased this Zeiss UV filter mostly as protection for my Nikon 24-70mm, f/2.8 lens. It?s a fantastic, high-quality filter that does exactly what it is supposed to. No glare or ghosting in any of my images, even when shooting against the sun. Really excellent! Holds the lens cap well, too.As an added plus, I really like the storage container the filter comes in. Nice quality and sturdy, doesn?t accidentally open, no sliding around.

I own five Zeiss UV filters for us eon Zeiss lenses. Most of them are excellent. They add no color cast and provide great clarity. Zero distortion or flaring. This filter, for some reason, arrived covered with speckles. I assumed they were dirt and would clean off. Not so. This is apparently the protective coating sloppily applied and leaving dots across the surface. Looks like somebody spit a soft drink on the filter. Need to contact Zeiss and see what they can do to remedy it. For this kind of money, the filter should be pristine.

I've always been a Nikon DSLR photographer. To change things up I decided to purchase a Canon point and shoot. I chose the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-HX400V which came with a Zeiss lens. I've been shooting with the new camera and the ZEISS 55mm Carl ZEISS T* UV Filter has been flawless. I shot the attached photo yesterday with the camera and filter. I didn't know roses could bloom in November but it's 2020 so anything can happen.
Bought this for my Sony FE 40mm f/2.5 G Lens. Loved the case it comes with too. Cheaper filters I have purchased before usually come with foam debris on them and in a flimsy plastic case that can't really be used to store the filters. This is a great buy.
Since I only use Zeiss Glass on my cameras, continuing the use of the Zeiss line only fit's my style. The T* UV Filter matches the quality I bank on. THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE for Zeiss.
Fantastic UV protective filter. Leave it on everywhere. Expensive filter, but worth it. Get the best for your quality lens. You won't be disappointed in the results you get with this Zeiss T* coated uv filter!
While perhaps it is not mandatory to put a UV filter in front of a lens, I prefer doing so since I usually shoot in difficult environments where salt water, steam, sand and rock debris are the norm. These new filters by Zeiss are very well built, the y thread nicely onto the lens thread. I also use the filters as a replacement of the lens cap. This saves me time from opening up the lens cap and fumbling with it, finding a place to store it or putting it in my pocket. With the filter the front element is always protected and I don't have to worry about the caps missing or getting in the way. Optically I see no detriment in picture quality and the T* coating does a very good job minimizing reflections. It also does not create any new ones from light that shines off ... MoreWhile perhaps it is not mandatory to put a UV filter in front of a lens, I prefer doing so since I usually shoot in difficult environments where salt water, steam, sand and rock debris are the norm. I bought this filter for my Zeiss 85mm f/1.4 ZF.2 with Nikon mount. After 3 times of carefully using, the paint of the letters on the filter is faded out. It was unbelievable that the letter is not engraved on filter ring nor painted by durable ink, especially at this price. I believe the filter will be unnamed after 50 times of use. I believe that may be one me give negative review for this filter. Haven't seen any bad comment about Zeiss products. The lens Zeiss 85mm is amazing, but the Zeiss filter is not at the same level. I am wonder which filter should I use for my Zeiss 135mm APO coming next month?
Normally I buy B+W MRC UV filters for all of my lenses. In this case I made an exception. I bought a limited production Zeiss Sonnar 50mm f/1.5 in Nikon S (rangefinder mount), which Zeiss produced in 2008. I was tempted to go cheap and get the B+W, but then I figured that I would kick myself every time I used the lens. So, I bought this. The case that these filters come in is a wonder. Beautifully finished and shaped. A wonder of industrial design. The filter is well made, and the glass looks as if it isn't there at all. I would say that the B+W Schott glass is comparable in quality. Putting it on my lens, the hood bayonets on without binding on the outside of the filter. Some of the older B+W filter rings tend to be quite thick, but I think the latest B+W rings are ... MoreNormally I buy B+W MRC UV filters for all of my lenses. In this case I made an exception. My only twinge of disappointment is that the filter is made in Japan (well, so is my lens, so what?). At this price, I was hoping it might say Made in Germany. Do I buy Leica filters for my Leica lenses? Occasionally, but not often. But, I did buy this Zeiss filter to go with my Zeiss lens.
