I would only send the case back, surely. Bu no, they want the lot and a pint of blood to go with it.In view of the high cost here, I am severely disappointed in such a prestige brand as Zeiss, that they should use less than prestige materials for their product. The binoculars themselves appear to be extremely good and I would expect that.I am not going to send the whole lot back because I will try and mend this myself but I am pleased to be able to report on this survey that this product does not meet my expectations and I am able to warn others:1.Watch out for this inferior quality clip on the case - it may well break.2. Do NOT hold on to your product beyond the 30 days before trying it out.A lesson learned for me.

I bought these for a safari in Tanzania and found them to be excellent for watching both land animals and birds, from close to quite far off in the distance. Bright, vivid display. I compared them against the binoculars others on our trip had, including some classic Swarovskis and a more expensive Zeiss version, and found nothing that I liked better than these. The only minor quibble I have is that the focus knob might have developed a tiny bit of play, but it did not prevent accurate focusing. I found the process of researching binoculars to be frustrating due to so many conflicting opinions and no clear way to evaluate them objectively, and eventually settled on these. Very satisfied with my choice.

I bought these binoculars to watch the Ocean Race in Newport and have not been disappointed. They served this purpose perfectly. The optics are brilliant, you could see the sailors on the boats very clearly. The binoculars come with a nice carrying strip and a very convenient box.The only downside is that the cap for the screw thread to attach the tripod mount is very hard to get off. Going back to B&H solved that issue in a couple of minutes and the good thing is you can't loose the cap easily.

I have been a birder since my 20's (I'm in my 60's now) and have owned my fair share of binoculars over the years. I always have a pair with me when outdoors hiking, bike riding, or doing any sort of photography. Zeiss binoculars have long been my go to binoculars since I got the 10x40 B/GA Telyt model about 35 years ago. In more recent years the Zeiss Victory 10x42 (the first SF version) have been my main binoculars. Other binoculars I've owned that have come and gone include Nikon Monarchs and Eagle Optics. My Victory binos had to be sent back to Germany for repair and my old Telyt binoculars had to get realigned, so I was left without any binoculars at all for a while and took a chance on these. I am very, very pleased with these Terra 10x42's. I love their compact size. They are bright and clear and focus very closely making them great for insects and wildflowers as well as birds. They focus easily and can be used one handed when necessary. Chromatic aberrations are very well controlled and not an issue in most viewing situations. These are great user binoculars and really are much better and more user friendly than the best binoculars 30 years ago. While I don't have my Victory 10x42's on hand right now to make a direct comparison, I'm sure I won't miss any warblers this fall because I'm using the Terras instead. These are a great value for the price. While more expensive binoculars are nice, these are all that most people really need. Even when I get my Victory binos back, I will continue to use these regularly. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Zeiss brand epitomises quality and these binoculars meet expectations. Light weight for 10x42, with excellent clarity, detail, colour rendition and brightness. Slightest of chromatic aberration dark against very bright background but very wide sweet spot and depth of field. Comfortable to hold, the rubber armour is very well designed providing a real sense of durability and confidence. Pupil width hinge, diopter ring and eye relief cups operate positively and will not accidentally slip out of position. Strangely, the diopter rubber ring is crude in form albeit does function well. The case seems well made and of a zipped clamshell design. It has belt straps on the back, but the case might be too cumbersome to be carried at waist level - good for storage though!. I could fit the whole strap inside tucked to one side of the binoculars - perhaps because my pupil width is just under 60mm and this provided the necessary space. I think these binoculars are excellent quality from a thoroughly respected manufacturer and worth the price paid. There might be better buys elsewhere - but I have Zeiss!!

To provide a context, I am not a nature enthusiast or a bird watcher. The primary mission of this binocular for me is work / security related. One of the requirements I had is to get an binocular that enables me to detect a half exposed head of a person peaking out from behind a tree or some other concealment at 500m. From my testing on the field, it seems that 500m is no problem, and this can do it up to 700~800m, or even over 1000m under good lighting conditions.I can read car license plate up to about 150m hand held, and I was able to easily read license plates beyond 200m using a tripod.Color rendering appears neutral, which I like. However, it does appear slight gray tone when looking at objects at distance. Not as vivid as my Zeiss Victory SF, but acceptable for what I need it for.For 500m and in, sharpness is good. For looking at farther distance, it shows that it is not as sharp as Victory SF. However, other than looking less pretty, I had no problem recognizing human or smaller sized objects to 1000m and beyond.I bought the apparently less popular 32mm objective model because of the size. I wish it was smaller and lighter, but this still is the smallest and lightest compared to Conquest or Victory, and other brands appears to offer either something bigger with similar quality or something smaller but with less performance.I do not have enough time or money to buy each one and do a comparison, but according to reviews by youtubers like Optica Exotica, Vortex Diamondback appears to be very similar in performance when it comes to center clarity while losing edge to edge clarity. However, that was unacceptable for me, because I may have to scan an area with my binocular, so most of the view area needs to be clear and sharp, even if it means paying a lot more for it. In that aspect, for a 32mm at 10 power, scanning an area was okay with this. I do have a Terra 10x25, but too narrow field of view was just too uncomfortable for area scanning which was what prompted me to be interested in this model.I did not expect much low light performance from 10x32, but it does enhance my visibility in dusk right after sunset.Focus wheel is very good for the class. It is quick focus type, which is not my preference. I wish it was more fine focus type, even if it meant turning more to get focus. However, for the type that it is, focusing was not overly difficult. However, there appears to be a very slight freeplay. Combined with the fact that it is a quick focus type, I did have to fiddle with it just a bit to get a fine focus. Just a lot less fiddling compared to cheaper optics I used before.Binocular is not one of just few gears like it appears to be for people who walk around with nothing other than just a binocular and a water bottle, etc. For me, it is one of many gears I have to manage. And, for now, the size and weight does not appear to be too burdensome for me to have to actively load manage like a full size binocular.

These binoculars are great. The view from these shows such crisp detail, comparable to others that cost a lot more. Natchez had them for a much better price than anyone else, plus they ship my orders fast. I’ve always had excellent service from Natchez.

A friend had these in the Boundary Waters and we used them to watch eagles, osprey and loons. I had only used a quality pair of binoculars once before and the clarity is amazing.So.....when I got home I ordered this pair and we have used them often for watch boats, birds and freighters out front on Lake Superior. Very pleased with these binocs and would recommend without question.

I've been looking for a decent binocular, and ran across these. I got them on sale, along with some other discounts, it couldn't be beat. Zeiss makes some good optics, and these aren't an exception. They are of good quality, crisp and clear. I love the rubber material, and the color.

Zeiss nails it as usual

I lost my trusty Zeiss 10X42 Terras one night getting into a skiff on an exposed rocky beach during a full moon minus tide shoot. They were superb, and were actually a second brand new updated model in place of my original which i’d sent in for repair after a long drop off a cliff. (For free, because that’s Zeiss.)What i didnt realize until getting their smaller objective diameter model was there was no appreciable difference (for my purposes) in optical performance between the 10X42mm and the 10X32mm except weight and size.Same performance but a smaller and lighter package hanging from my neck all day? YEAH, I’ll take THAT one (in a heartbeat!) Exit Pupils notwithstanding, I find there’s no meaningful difference in most viewing conditions.
