The big letdown with this product is the area around the valve (you know the one, the big oversized valve that no standard pump that you already own fits) Looks to be a thermal bonding failure that happens over time- where valve is attached to mattress. Mattress is about 2-3 years old and was working before stored. In the few hours that it does hold air before you are on the ground, the mattress is quite comfortable. Repair is a mission because no adhesive I found likes to bond to both surfaces. Finally resorted to installing a SUP type valve you can get at marine stores in it’s own oversized patch. Zempire make some good products but In my opinion I think you should steer clear of this one as it’s a bit of a hand grenade. This is a very comfortable self-inflating sleeping pad. I purchased it to use as a regular double (full size) mattress at home, after having yet another air mattress go flat. I have back problems, and find inflatable mattresses to be a solution. So far, it has held up well to continual use. It did need a bit of help getting fully inflated, but not much. It is four inches thick and is a standard full size, so normal sheets fit on it.This pad is good for car camping, ideal for that week at a national/state park campsite. I would not recommend it for backpacking due to its weight and bulk. Since I have not deflated it, I don't know how/if it will fit back into the included stuff sack. Thanks goes the person in customer service who helped me with my purchase.

Replaced our cheap old inflatable mattress with this. After one 2-night trip, I am happy. Yes, it is much more expensive than a cheap blow-up mattress, but infinitely more comfortable. In particular, it is much warmer, and there is almost no effect when one person rolls over. As a side sleeper, keeping my hip off the ground is important, and this mat excelled. It is also much more comfortable than my old thin bushwalking self-inflating mat (as you would expect — 100mm vs 15mm.I cannot speak about its durability. We will see.I have not used other similar thick self-inflating mats, so I dont know where this sits.Negatives:* bulky when rolled up compared to an air mattress.* hard work to roll it up, and you will never get it down to the size it came from the ... MoreReplaced our cheap old inflatable mattress with this. My wife and I spent 5 weeks sleeping on this bad boy on a touring trip recently. The self inflating feature works well. We would get our RV-5 tent up, chuck the mattress in and let is start inflating and by the time we were done setting up camp, it only required maybe 5 or 6 extra blows to get it to our desired firmness. The mattress is very comfy and warm. With a flannelette fitted sheet it kept us warm on the coldest of nights in Tassie. The velcro straps it comes with are pretty average and have pretty much disintegrated after the trip, so I would definitely recommend replacing it with a buckle style strap. I picked these up from Amazon and they work great!
I enjoy my Monstamat Twin while camping, for it's easy inflation, adjustable softness, convenient air valve, toughness, attractive look, and the way I can move without disturbing my partner, except for one issue. That is I am finding that it accumulates body heat and restless nights have ensued! I am sensitive to temperature while sleeping and consequently on my normal bed adjusment of top layers is necessary. However, with the Monstamat Twin the heat remains underneath no matter how few layers are above, thus I can have cold air above and accumulated heat below (a heat that I find considerably uncomfortable). This issue was not obvious when viewing the main website ad. For the benefit of potential buyers, I missed the detailed link regarding the R9.5 rating. I requested a suggestion as to how I may resolve this dilemma, proposing some type of layer between my body and the Monstamat Twin perhaps? A woollen blanket doesn't work.Snowys offer outstanding service and delivery however this time I am disappointed. So that others like myself will not be caught out I would prefer to see a very obvious note in the website ad that the Monstamat Twin is definitely not suited to a warm climate but more for an Alpine climate. BTW note that today (06/12/20) all Zempire air mats are not listed under the "Camping" tab. They can be found by doing a search however. Perhaps Snowys is reviewing their advertising? For the benefit of potential buyers below is Snowys response. Unfortunately their offered resolution does not suffice my needs. I will need to improvise a solution."Ryan Faulkner (Zempire Camping)Nov 30, 2020, 9:05 GMT+13Hi Omshree,Thanks for your message. We are glad to hear that you are enjoying your monstamat, apart from the excess warmth. The Monstamats offer great insulation as they are made with 10cm of open-cell foam. This makes them a great all-around mat for most conditions, however, in very warm conditions they may not be the best option. Something like an uninsulated air mattress or stretcher may be a better summer option for users who are sensitive to the heat as they would promote airflow and allow heat to escape from underneath you. We do also have a range of stretchers as well as our uninsulated "Monstalite" mattress as alternative options.Since the mats do not generate any heat on their own, we do not have any recommendations for preventing this apart from finding additional cooling solutions such as removing top insulation, promoting ventilation/ cross breezes in your sleeping area, or introducing something cold into your sleep system like a hot water bottle (but filled with cold water!)Please let me know if you have any other questions that I can help with.Cheers,Ryan Faulkner
This is a great mattress!! Very well made, very comfortable to lay on (almost as good as being in bed) and a generous size (plenty of room for two adults and a toddler). Make sure you follow the instructions and let it self-inflate for 24hrs first time around, this step is crucial, as it took a long time to self-inflate for the first time. We took it out camping recently (3°C overnight) and did not feel any of the cold from the ground underneath. When inflating it took 15mins to inflate and was incredibly easy to set up, simply roll out, flick valve to inflate and leave it for 15mins whilst continuing to set up the camp site. Deflating and rolling up is simple enough, simply flick valve over to deflate and roll up. After it was deflated, it needed to be rolled three ... MoreThis is a great mattress!! Deflating and rolling up is simple enough, simply flick valve over to deflate and roll up. After it was deflated, it needed to be rolled three times to get as much of the air out and foam as flat as possible. Not too sure if this will be too hot on warmer nights in comparison to the humble air mattress. However, on cold nights, this is a must have to ensure a warm and comfortable sleep.
Bought the Monstamat to replace a similar Macpac mattress which let us down too easily.Slept on the Zempire Monstamat for the first time recently for 3 nights in a row. It is a superior product. Inflates well and packs down far more easily with the 3 way valve than the MP ever did.Bottom material of the Zempire seems thicker and looks like it will hold up well. Top material is soft but gets a little warm if you sleep hot and perhaps marginally less breathable than the alt option.Would easily choose the Zempire Monstamat again just based on the valves and bottom layer alone though.
I'm too heavy for regular sleeping pads, and got sick of coleman inflatable air mattresses stacked on top of each other. Decided to splure and get this. Sales person at REI store talked me out of getting a more expensive mattress system and go with this. As another review stated, this thing is a beast. Deflating it and packing it up took about 45 minutes - 15 minutes of deflating by itself, and about a half hour of me rolling around on top of it trying to get the rest of the air out - next time, I'll give it more time to deflate by itself to see how long it takes. Rolling it back up was a chore. But was it worth it? YES! I'm a stomach sleeper and slept like a baby on this. I'm 5'9"/275 and this was able to keep me comfortable for three nights with no additional air. ... MoreI'm too heavy for regular sleeping pads, and got sick of coleman inflatable air mattresses stacked on top of each other. After doing my research I settled on this product to be part of our new camping experience.Found 3 sellers with the same price including one in my own State but Freddy's offered one more great incentive and that was a free towel worth $90 inc. free shipping.Once my order was organised, it came via a Courier and well packed. As expected the mattress was easy to inflate and is as described.Very comfortable and light and will be using 2 singles instead of a double as they're easier to deflate and fold up again.Apparently if you put them both in a single quilt cover - they will stay together. Our little doggy will be in the middle 😘Make sure you watch YouTube tutorials to get some tips and read Manufacturer's instructions on line as it tells you to leave them ... MoreAfter doing my research I settled on this product to be part of our new camping experience.Found 3 sellers with the same price including one in my own State but Freddy's offered one more great incentive and that was a free towel worth $90 inc. free shipping.Once my order was organised, it came via a Courier and well packed. As expected the mattress was easy to inflate and is as described.Very comfortable and light and will be using 2 singles instead of a double as they're easier to deflate and fold up again.Apparently if you put them both in a single quilt cover - they will stay together. I bought this in March but did not have a chance to use it until first weekend of October. After inflating it, I went to sleep the first night to end up waking to being on the ground. Thought the valve wasn’t closed but noticed a 1/2in extremely clean cut on the underside. I have not had a knife anywhere near it so only thought is it came that way to me. Not impressed with quality control but was comfortable when it held the air. Will be returning for a refund to find something else.
