I recently purchased the Zen Bed Base. I did buy a mattress as well and it's not too bad to sleep on, but time will tell.I love wooden bed bases and lets face it. most bed bases have wood inside them. I find the wooden frame better for my back and gives more support than conventional bed bases. For someone who is older the base could be a few centimetres higher for easy of gettting off the bed.Putting the bed together wasn't as easy as described by a few reviews. At 70 I did have to stop a few times and have a rest. There are two things I would ask of Ecosa, firstly to label what is the top part of the mattress so when getting it out of the plastic, it can be placed the right way up on the bed and not like me who made the mistake of putting it upside down and then ... MoreI recently purchased the Zen Bed Base. Directions could have been explained better.Having chronic arthritis doesn't help and I had to call a neighbour for that bit.

I was super impressed with the cardboard packaging of each of the components of the Zen base. Have never seen anything packed so well in recyclable packaging. The bed base was very easy to assemble and required no tools. But... the slatted sections that form the support did not fit... regardless of how I arranged them. The directions said they would fit snuggly but honestly there was a 4-5mm overlap and they would not lie flat. I attempted to leverage them in and ended up breaking one of the pieces due to how tight the fit was. I rang customer support whose only advice was to switch the side rails -- which literally meant taking the whole bed base back apart and starting over... with no guarantee it would fit any better. I ended up instead using my dremel to lighly sand back the edges (which personally I feel were off-cut as they were not straight) until the pieces were able to rest flat on the supports.Ultimately it is fine and the support has not been compromised. Just a bit of a pain at the time. It had been a struggle to move the boxes into the house and they had been slow arriving so I didn't intend to wait for a replacement base.

Don't buy one, do what we did, buy TWO, a King for the master, a Queen for the spare. So easy to assemble, 30 minutes, job done. Looks great. But the comfort is undeniably fabulous. 26 years I've put up with a horrible bed that cost us a fortune at the time. Since the ecosa moved in our sleep is so much better, I can't feel my partner move all night and that's heaven for me. I go to bed earlier now because I just know I'm going to get a really good sleep, too many pluses to write about.

This is the best purchase I've ever done for myself - what a treat of engineering! The most time was spent getting it out of the box. Once out of the box, I put it together by myself without tools, no longer than 15min maybe? It was nice having huge (like poster-size) instructions of just 4 steps and being super quick to put together after a really looooooong day of moving house. Can't recommend enough. I honestly wish you guys thought about branching out - IKEA is nice and all, but it's a common joke about the strength of relationship lasting through building IKEA furniture. I'd buy all my furniture from you if you did - ever thought about making tables? Cupboards? Desks?Only complaint would be the tissue paper in between the slats. I appreciate that it was there ... MoreThis is the best purchase I've ever done for myself - what a treat of engineering! The most time was spent getting it out of the box. I appreciate that it was there to save the wood from getting scratched, but it tears with very little force and small pieces tear off and gets everywhere.
This is a beautiful bed. It was very easy to assemble (even for one person), and is very solid. More than that, however, the thing I have spoken about most with friends is Ecosa's packaging of this product. Well done Ecosa - your commitment to packaging completely in paper products, and even a biodegradable sticky tape holding the box together, really matters to this customer. Thank you. A bed for a lifetime.
I bought zen Bed Base 2 months ago. Delivery is the next day. The Bed Base is very well protected by the package, actually too much package that it took me 3 weeks to dispose the cardboards. The bed base is very solid hard wood. I am a woman, I set up the bed base by myself. The slats are also timber, many and enough slats that made the base firm enough to support my child jumping on it. I had done a lot research, I chose Zen Bed Base because it has no glue, no plywood, and not only its frame is solid wood, its slats is wood as well. I am very happy with the purchase so I have purchased another Zen Bed.
It's a very sturdy bed frame with packaging that is easily disposed of.The chamfers that is advertised to not hurt your legs can still hit and hurt at times but it's not often an issue. It is a low lower than most frames on the market so underbed storage will become a tricky thing to work out.Outside of that. Probably one of the quietest frames I've slept on.Worth noting to add rubber floor stoppers since the bed did slide around a bit when reading a book while leaning against the wall on a hardwood floor setting. No issues outside of that.Worth the money. Already recommended it to my friends.
Thoroughly enjoying our zen bed . We have a super king bed . Finding a low slung bed base that accommodates a super king was difficult and costly . I was very pleasantly surprised to find the ecosa was neither . Cost effective , sturdy , no creaks or squeaks. Aesethetically pleasing and well made. Great height and exactly as described . Would recommend this bed to others . We bedshare occasionally with my toddler so the height and rounded corners also are a plus for us .
A lovely looking simple bed base that’s a perfect design for a smaller room or simply for a minimalist look. It’s sturdy and built to last, unlike many of its competitors. It was the simplest bed I have ever put together and came with really clear instructions. The packaging was eco friendly with compostable tape. I’ll definitely buy another zen bed base for a spare room if needed.
While the bed was pretty easy to put together it’s way too low for someone to sit and stand from if they have difficulty getting on a floor. While we measured the height of the base and mattress we didn’t realise we needed to add the depth allowed for the mattress to sit in. Would have been great to see the floor to top of the mattress height to make an informed decision instead of adding the two heights and getting it wrong like we did. It’s lower than an average dining chair and you can’t return the base so we’re stuck with it. The mattress is very comfortable though. Would be great if there is an ability to change the legs to a taller option.
