The gas bottle that was sold with the BBQ does not fit, and the team were unaware of the issue. Have spent far too much time getting this BBQ setup to work and awaiting the gas bottle issue to be resolved. Ask the question about the gas bottle prior to purchasing. This is not a minor purchase. Not sure about performance yet - time will tell.

I am a qualified chef so I understand the grilling process, and I have found the domed glass heat source in the Ziegler and Brown turbo classic to be inadequate to seal and grill a steak properly. To achieve a better heat source I have swapped the burners which works better but there should be a defusser of some type between the burner and the grill bars. Can you help me with this problem?Ross Wiseman

Good overall BBQ, if only I could get better heat from the burners.
4 October 2022

Overall build quality is good and the hotplate works just fine. The Radiant Quartz Technology (RQT) burners sounded like an excellent idea in the showroom but I can't get enough heat out of them to cook a steak perfectly, they STEW more than BBQ and cant get good grill marks/crust. Overall, a bit disappointed given the price-premium for these Ziggies.

Great BBQ
7 November 2022

I’ve had my Turbo for 2 years now and it has been great. The quartz burners are plenty hot enough, to the point where you need to be careful not to burn your hand with the radiant heat, so my experience is different to some other reviewers who have complained about lack of heat. No rust whatsoever on any of the components. My only gripe is that the markings around the gas knobs and the safety/operating instructions have all come off. It is only ever wiped down with a chux and water so this is poor for a BBQ at this price point.

The rust in this bbq is extremely bad. Rust bubbles from beneath clean, dry and protected surfaces. Bolts and fittings all rust. Burner piezo ignition fails and can't be replaced. The drip tray beneath the burners is unhygienic.Cheaply built rubbish.

Overpriced / Overhyped BBQ and Terrible customer service
14 October 2022

I’m really disappointed in my BBQ. How it was sold to me as advanced burner technology and ease of cleaning versus it being just a really expensive BBQ. The burners that aren’t supposed to allow fat fires, flare up everytime it’s used. The glass burner covers are hard to clean and you really need to clean them every time you use the BBQ otherwise they can’t be cleaned. On top of my disappointment in the BBQ itself, BBQ galore have provided terrible customer service. I needed to wait to receive one of my side carts due to stock levels. They said it would be delivered and installed at my house within 4-6 weeks when stock arrived. It’s been almost a year and I still don’t have it. I’ve called BBQ galore 3 times to follow up on this and they haven’t been able to find a ... MoreI’m really disappointed in my BBQ. They have never called me back once and everytime I call back we have to start the process again. I guess they are just hoping I will give up.

So close to being great
14 October 2022

Overall it’s a really good barbecue, but a few little niggly things prevent it from being a great barbecue.1) Five burners is ridiculous overkill, I can only use it on very low settings otherwise everything just gets charcoaled. The four burner would’ve been more than ample, wish I’d known & got that one.2) The hotplate drain hole is right above the centre burner if you install the plate as per instructions, which is stupid as you get flare ups and fat build up on that burner glass. I returned and queried this and was advised that used to be only a four burner but they changed it to 5 and obviously they didn’t re-engineer the plate.3) As the unit comes in pieces and you have to build it yourself select which jets you use and install the supply hose. How this is any different for LPG that you have to get a plumber to certify it for use on natural gas is a farce!Very good build quality and easy to assemble because all the holes lineup and the instructions are clear.

This thing is amazing! I haven't owned many, because I only buy good ones! Best BBQ I've owned.

I agree with Lumpy, this thing is amazing! I don't understand where the negative comments come from either?? I expect most people have decided to change it over from bottle to town gas and haven't performed the required jetting change, maybe...Yes, you do have to preheat the grill prior for 15 minutes (hood down), much like you do with most gas grills, it aids in the pre cooking cleaning phase and for sterilizing...Ours is plumbed into the house gas. I have 4 RQT's (Quartz) burners generally fitted. Sometimes I simply remove 2 of the burners and use ceramic beads or the cast iron burners, a simple quick swap over anyhow. I also have the rotisserie accessory kit as well. But once this thing is cranking, this thing burns like an imploding sun! I generally cook with ... MoreI agree with Lumpy, this thing is amazing! I generally cook with the hood down and take progressive peeks for the progress. I clean the quartz tamers on occasion with BBQ cleaner, all good there. I live inland, so I don't have the rust issues, but I do cover it up when not in use for prolonged periods. Definitely haggle and keep your eye out for a bargain. Great BBQ.

Great BBQ.Looks fantastic people are always impressed by it on the deck.Generally easily cleaned however there are some hard to reach peices that are difficult/ stubborn. The flame thrower ignition is not my favourite and can take a few turns to get it going.Radiant heat keeps moisture with in the meat as promised. The oven heat can be difficult to maintain for longer baking/ roasting.Overall I am happy with the BBQ and I would recommend the purchase for others.
