I like it a lot. The tone and sound is good. The mallet is the only concern. I just had to order a paiste mallet with a soft cover. Other than that, I'm very satisfied.

My girl friend had breast cancer and went through the radiation treatments. She mentioned that when the radiation treatments were over , the women rang a small victory bell. I have gone through cancer treatments and now I am done and starting to heal up. My Doctor and I talked about a bell or something that could make some noise to celebrate radiation treatments being over for men. This gong is what transpired. I am hoping it will be struck by men and women who have undergone radiation and want to celebrate life after cancer treatments. A symbolic banging of the gong so to speak.
really don't have enough experience with various gongs. with that said, this one met my needs. sure, a gong from a tibetan monastery would be cool, . not a great variety in sounds. perhaps i need to learn to "play" it
