I wanted to install grab bars in a shower and tub surround. This meant locating studs behind 3/8" ceramic tile over 1/2" dry wall, since for me, anchoring grab bars securely to studs is an absolute must. Drilling a screw hole in the wrong place would really make a mess of the tile and be expensive to repair. I haven't used all of the features of this stud finder (locating electric wires and metal) but it worked great for what I bought it for. I installed 4 grab bars (24 screw holes) without any problems. It accurately located the center of the studs so that I could drill 2 screw holes side-by-side and another beneath them for each end of each grab bar. The stud finder is somewhat expensive, but far cheaper than repairing/replacing tile if I messed up.

Was used on a ceiling that was painted using a textured popcorn finish. Found every stud. Then used to find floor joist under two layers of plywood, 1.25" plywood flooring to stop floor squeaks by driving new floor screws into the joists. Worked like a charm. Can't say enough good things about this unit.No comment on the other features of this unit. Have had no need as of yet to use them.

The zircon Multiscanner i520 in an awesome piece of equipment. One thing though, make sure your first 9 volt battery is fresh! I like the simple and reliable interface ; no BS getting in the way of getting your project done.

I bought several intro stud finders. None of them worked. So after frustration I spent more money and got this. It was the best model they had. The other stud finders could not find a stud and made a high pitch sound. Very annoying. This one has a nicer sound that doesn't hurt my ears. Best thing is it finds the studs unlike the cheaper ones. Only bad thing about is it cost $50. Wish the cheaper one worked.
Don't chinse on a cheaper product. This is exactly what you need. It finds live wires, plumbing and deeply buried studs. You'll know exactly what is in your walls with this scanner. I may use it once every couple of months, but when I do, it gives me eyes where I need them. Worth every penny, and can save bundles by not hitting plumbing or electrical wiring.
I've had several stud finders over the years usually opting for cheaper models to save money. My dad once told me never to go cheap with tools because when you need it you want it to work. Cheap stud finders just don't locate the studs as well and definitely don't tell you where center is. This one does not miss. I used to hate locating a stud with a cheap stud finder only to find that no stud was behind the sheetrock in the targeted area.I would buy this stud finder again.
This is the first stud-finder that I have owned that actually works well. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to buy one. Detects stud well and has a setting for deep detection, metal detection and electrical wire detection. Glad that I made the purchase, no more guess work. I hit hard wood every time when putting up a stair railing as well as a porch swing.
I am not a professional and used this for installing crown moulding in my Family room. It found every beam and made quick work of this installation. I did not have time to read the directions or watch the video but the device is very intuitive to use and figured it out in a couple of minutes. This model also finds wires in the wall (it showed me a few areas to avoid nailing) as well as works on various wall depths. These are more features than I need but I figured spending an incremental $20 for this more expensive model now may eliminate the need to buy another better model later so went for it.
I found a couple of flaws with the item. Check accuracy from each direction.Center of stud can vary if moving left to right or right to left. I found a varience of 1/2 inch and when looking for center, can make a world of difference. I drove a screw in where it showed stud center within 1/4" right to left and left to right caught edge of stud! In putting in a cupboard, that mattered. Hit the other two studs by taking average center.Be sure to calibrate on wall off of a stud. Also not accurate for end studs. No way to find center unless you can cross the stud.On stud scan mode, it was showing AC wires in many areas where there were no AC wires.I can only relate this problem to being within 4' of main breaker box. It was distracting. If move to AC scan, you can acheive accuracy. AC wire detection is a critical function.Best I can say is nice bright screen. But in the end, I returned mine in search of one more accurate. My $20 Black and Decker finds stud edges and is just as accurate but cannot do pipes or AC.Overall it is a good unit for features yet overpriced. I would value this unit at $39.00with that level of accuracy. At $59.00 I expect near flawless performance. In spite of all this, it is still one of the nicest locators I have used. But $39.00 unit i320 may be the better buy. since has same features.Remember vets, you get a 10% discount.
All of your stud finders are sort of hit and miss if you are trying to find the center line of the stud. There is another stud-finder that outdoes all the other stud finders but unfortunately, you do not sell them. It would be nice to carry ProSensor 710 Franklin Sensors Precision Stud Finder in your stores. As far as finding the center line of the stud accurately, this stud finder brings all other stud finders to shame!
