This is exactly what I was hoping for: a small footprint so it's easy to tuck away in a small apartment, makes a good amount of rice for a couple of people, and the quality of the result is so much better than what I make without a cooker. Cleaning has been a breeze; everything pops apart easily, and it feels like it will hold up well. I'm a little worried about the thin gasket around the upper liner, but that's going to just be a case of being careful with it, I think. It's also adorable: my rice cooker has a little elephant on it, and it plays music when it needs me to do something. I was... not expecting how much joy I would get out of that. ;)So far I've just made white rice; I'm excited about trying out brown and GABA though. I also really want to try making ... MoreThis is exactly what I was hoping for: a small footprint so it's easy to tuck away in a small apartment, makes a good amount of rice for a couple of people, and the quality of the result is so much better than what I make without a cooker. I purchased this to replace our Sanyo one after 12 years of use. This was a lot more expensive, but I wanted one that would last just as long (if not longer). I would’ve gotten the Sanyo one, but they no longer make rice cookers. We eat rice 1-2x a week, but I do make sushi and also sweet rice for dessert. This rice cooker does all of these, and also cooks brown rice exceptionally well and consistently. My old Sanyo wasn’t even this good with brown rice. I like that it evenly cooks the rice and cooks it well, even if I was off on the measurements or the water. I just find the music when you turn it on annoying - but the kids like it lol.

I purchased a similar cooker from Zojirushi more than 10 years ago in the US. At that time they did not have the IT model, but I still liked it. I lived in Japan during the past 7 years and purchased this IT cooker and enjoyed. Now I am back in the US and found the IT model from Zojirushi and immediately purchased. I am very happy with this product. By the way, my old cooker is still alive!

Cook times are longer than I've experienced with other, lower-priced rice cookers. This is maybe necessary for producing excellent rice, which the zojirushi certainly does, but was an unexpected characteristic. The machine is beautiful, seems well built with quality materials, and is sturdy. The versatility is a plus, allowing and giving directions for a multitude of rices and gains. All things considered, I feel that the price may be a bit higher than is worthwhile.
Extremely easy to use. Very high quality materials. The flavor of the rice is noticeably better than cheaper model rice cookers and the consistency is unmatched. The keep warm function allows for fresh tasting and safe to eat rice throughout the day. The price seems high but if you eat a fair amount of rice the end quality, consistency, and flavor are well worth it. Clean up is very quick and the cooking surface never has rice stuck to it. I am very happy with this product, and will look to zojirushi for other products I may need in the future because I am so impressed with the engineering and quality.
I’m going to lead with summary conclusion and then you can read the details below if you want.Summary: Unless you really want the induction feature consider a lower costing model Because I personally do not feel this was an upgrade from my previous rice cooker nor does it really seem to cook any faster. Details below:This is a nice rice cooker. It’s well built.I generally cook short grain white rice and brown rice. I buy good quality rice in small bags as I’m not cooking for a crowd.I had the white Umami model previously and I loved it but unfortunately it was broken during a move. Many of my friends had recommended going to an induction model. This machine seems more heavy duty with a more heavy duty bowl. Many of my friends had recommended going to an induction model. This machine seems more heavy duty with a more heavy duty bowl. It’s a smaller footprint because it’s 3 cup versus 5 cup. Which I was happy with.I believe it has the same settings minus the umami setting which was no big deal. I used the umami setting once on my old model but but I didn’t like how long it took to cook nor the consistency of the rice as it seemed mushy. All that said the big takeaway for me is I think with the regular settings frankly the rice tasted better in the umami model And I wish I had bought that instead!I also found that because this is induction I have to use more water than the markings show or end up with super dry almost scorched bottom rice. Yes I know that could be indicative of an older batch of rice but I really think it’s the induction heating. It’s not a big deal as long as you’re aware.Because it’s all about the rice, right?Basically I wish I could get a model that’s built like this one, 3 cup size, but white (personal aesthetic preference) and that cooked like my previous umami model. My daughter is purchasing a rice cooker and I have advised her to purchase the umami model or if She wants a 3 cup cooker//Smaller footprint To consider a micom model and save on the cost.
I love the size of this rice cooker, it is perfect for my place since it is only 2 people. I have only cooked medium grain rice and it has come out perfect every time! If you need a small rice cooker, this is the one. The quality is also something to note, solid build and looks good in the kitchen!
This is the most awesome rice cooker ever! I've tried a few other automatic rice cookers in the past and often been disappointed. This one is the perfect size for me, 3 cups is perfect for one or two people. It's made perfect rice every time, it's easy to clean, it's compact and easy to store. There's even a carrying handle for easy portability. The Zojirushi people think of everything. I've no regrets on purchasing my cooker and highly recommend to others. This is a high quality, high performance, quality designed appliance.
Nice addition to kitchen appliances. Easy to use once figured out. Thank you youtube! Anyhow, makes rice nicely. Makes steel cut oats without the timeconsuming effort of stove top. Bought the smallest as have small household. Works great
Have wanted a Zojirushi rice cooker for a long time. They are expensive. Though you get what you pay for, these are made well and easy to use. Have had several other brands of rice cookers that did not work well. Everything I have made in it has turned out good i.e. wild rice, sprouted brown rice, jasmine rice, steel cut oats, quinoa. Easy to use, small, does not take up a lot of space, enough food for one person and does say for small families. Recommendations are that they add an on/off switch so the plug doesn’t need to be taken out in order to turn it off. Also, to use standard time on the clock instead of 24-hour clock. Otherwise, I would have given it “5” stars.
