First of all let me say I also have the G1ON and bought the G1X Four for the enhanced features and so I'd have one with the expression pedal. I sold all my tube amps when I was laid off, retired and moved to Mexico. My reference point is tweed and blackface era tube amps. I gotta say, once you learn how to dial in the tones you want, these little plastic boxes do a pretty decent job of amp and effects modeling. Like the G1ON, the G1X 4 does a good job of imitating the touch and volume control dynamics of a cranked tube amp at any volume. I really like the Deluxe Reverb, AC30 and DC30 simulations. Two kinds of spring reverb, one eats up a lot of memory but really sounds lush like an external unit along with the other types (room, plate, hall, church, etc.). Tremolo is built into the Fender models that have tremolo along with a couple of very configurable trems and rotating speaker effects. The G1 4 does NOT have the Z Organ effect the G1ON does, boo hoo. Beyond that, there are tons of effects to play with and they all sound good to my ears. I currently have 3 small amp setups. 1. Quilter 101 mini docked in their 10" BlockDock cab. 2. Quilter MicroBlock 45 pedal teamed with a 5E3 pine cab with a Emi Legend 12" and 3. an old Carvin SX50 1x12". I can get all three do to do the Deluxe Reverb,Vox AC15/30, E and F series Tweed tones that don't make me miss my tube amps. Wish I would have had the G1ON and the 17.7lb Quilter 1x10" combo back when I was in a blues band and gigging.Interface improvements from the G1ON... Improved display allows for more descriptive/longer patch names. Four pots act as master vol, bass, middle, treble during performance mode for global tone and volume tweeking. The four pots also make adjusting settings easier. To sum up, very cool pedal for under a hundred..

And with this order, I got it for 4 payments and not 3 and it was cheaper in total to boot. Also my order arrived in two days. So far I have enjoyed shopping here. I'm really looking forward to getting more gear now that I have found a site that stretches the payments out to 4, 6, 8 months. Those little extras in life that was just out of reach for my budget is now in sight. And with that I want to thank those here at zZounds for making this possible. Not every one of us musicians are making money at gigging and having a home studio during this "Lock Down" is a must to keep from going insane. I hope this little review helps someone. This Model, really is packed with alot of good stuff for it's size and price. I'm amazed at how much the digital world has changed since the first introduction of my Zoom 505 in 1995 and the Zoom G1X4 now. Man I'm getting old!

It works well, covers a lot of different effects (including amps and cabinets), and the user interface is pretty easy to learn. There are some limitations in its capabilities (for instance, there's little memory available to add effects unless you uninstall some of the defaults, and some combinations of effects can't be used because it doesn't have enough processing power), but at this price you have to expect that. One thing they could improve without adding cost to the device is the documentation; expect to use your favourite search engine a lot while figuring this thing out.

Great sounds
8 July 2022

I found the unit easy to use and program. All the effects are created by a chain of up to 5 fully editable modules e.g. Chorus module, Amp modules, reverb modules, all of which are adjustable eg. vol, gain, rate etc..You get 4 banks of 9 effects pre programed in.You build up your own bank of 9 sounds by creating a module chain for each, all chains are fully edditable.Once programed into the pedal a simple selction of the effect number or name recalls the effect.

Must have!
21 December 2021

I have owned a guitar for over 30 years. I always wanted a multi effects pedal when I was young but they were stupid expensive. I started playing seriously during the pandemic and recently saw this item at a reasonable price and bought. I cant believe how good it is. Its got it all! I am still learning how to program it but its awesome. It will keep me busy for the rest of my life. I cant believe its me playing sometimes. Sounds are great, drum machine, pedal and switches are solid. Best money i ever spent. Thanks

This is a fantastic little device for anyone that wants a huge range of tones in one handy pedal. For the price you are unlikely to do better. The forty patches pre-loaded into the pedal range from fantastic to mediocre, though this will depend a lot on your personal taste as the overall quality of the effects is very good. There are a few silly patches thrown in for reasons unknown, such as bombs going off every time you pluck a string... as a wise man once said, just because it can be done does not mean it should be done! However, where this pedal comes into it's own is patch creation. You can use the pedal controls or PC-based software to make a patch using a huge range of amps, cabs and pedals. If you can dream it, you can probably make it... or at least a close approximation of it... on the G1X.There are two cherries on the cake. One is the drum machine with more than 60 different rhythms to play along to... so much more fun that a metronome. The other is the looper. It's relatively short at just 30 seconds per loop, but is more than enough to lay down a backing track which you can solo over to your heart's content.Last but not least, you don't even need to run it through an amplifier. Plug headphones into the back and you can hammer away for hours without ever annoying the neighbours. If you do have an amp you can just use the G1X for it's pedal effects and let your amp do it's job.Overall this pedal offers huge bang for buck. If you don't have the money or space for loads of gear or an expensive modelling amp, then you can't go wrong with this little box of joy.

The perfect "first guitar pedal" for beginners
5 May 2021

For several years now, my pedalboard has had only ONE guitar "FX" pedal. First it was the G1Xon. Now it's the G1Xfour. I play both acoustic AND electric thru the pedal, and they BOTH sound great! Though I've played for over 40 years, I'm not a professional musician and rarely play out; but I do play a lot at home and IMO this is the best VALUE "name brand" guitar multi-FX pedal on the market. It's super affordable, very easy to use, sounds terrific, and is a total blast to play. In fact, this is the FIRST of TWO guitar pedals I recommend for every novice guitarist. Checkout my video links below for a quick start on G1Xfour pedal, and why it's one of the two first pedals I recommend.

Wish I bought this sooner

I needed a cabinet simulator to play quietly through headphones and now I don't really need anything else. Sounds great both through headphones and through my Acoustic a20 full-range amplifier. This pedal has a great selection of effects, amps and cabinet models and is easy to use with or without a computer. There's even an acoustic guitar simulator that makes your electric guitar sound sort-of like an acoustic guitar. The amp models don't exactly sound like tube amps but they are pretty close. Also note that most of the factory patches are way overdone and need to be toned down or tuned down. The patches have to have the microphone setting turned on to sound good if they have a cab sim and you aren't playing through an electric guitar amplifier.

Zoom has good distortion with drums and no noise
7 December 2021

The drum beats included are very useable. Many rock and 4/4 beats I like. Most other beats country and disco and funk I will use, too. Has the usual bebop swing and jazz that I will never use. On the guitar side there are maybe five amp/distortions I can create with, but they are very good sounds. This is enough distortions for me so I dont need any other boxes for this effect. Dont like the wah or reverb so I will keep those pedals in my chain. For the price the quality of tone is as good as most others. You can spend more and maybe better maybe not has been my experiance. Best way is to try befor you buy on pedals for sure. Most legit stores will let you return if you dont like.
