A great boot for a big foot

These boots have been great so far. I ride an affrica twin and even in a size 15, the foot controls are easy to use. The break in period was short. I wore them around the house for a couple of hours and they were good to go. They are quite a step up from my old tech 3s for not much more money. I recimmend these boots for anyone looking to do moderate off road riding. I am sure they would do fine on the mx track as well but i wont be able to find out as the suspension on my bike is too soft to get on a track.

I just got back into riding last year after a 20 year hiatus, so I didn't want to spend a lot of money on gear knowing I might not stick with it. Well, a year later I hooked again and plan on sticking with it as long as my body is able (I'm in my 60s and retired now). I originally purchased some IRC Corona boots and have been happy with them except the buckles can be a challenge to latch/unlatch. My grandson has started riding and need some boots, so I took this as a great opportunity to give him my ARCs and upgrade my boots. I settled on the Tech 7s based on recommendation from friends and online reviews. I have to say that the boots are comfortable and well made with high quality materials. The buckles are night and day better than the ARCs. Sure they are better, but for the extra $280 I cant see that you're getting a whole lot more. So for me, they are a good product but overpriced when compared to some other options.

Couldn't be happier with these, even coming off Gaerne SG-10's. At first I was worried the toe box was too tight, but after walking around a bit, they loosened up just enough. I have marginally wide feet, and these are fine.Fit, comfort, and protection are first rate. Very first ride and had no break in issues, or trouble shifting or braking.Size 9's weighed exactly 3.75 pounds each on my scale, a full pound lighter than the SG-10's (each)! As long as these hold up in the long term, these are my new go-to boot.

Awesome blend of comfort, protection, and feel
5 October 2021

To justify my 5 star, take into account what I was looking for: a combination of comfortable, protective (but not absurdly hard or stiff), toe box wide enough to accommodate a somewhat wide foot. All that said, these things are super nice.OVERALLThey're comfy out of the box, they feel sleek and have great peg feel, the latches are solid and easy to use, the toe box is very good on the levers. Basically if you want great feel, comfort, and maybe a 8.5/10 on protection with others maybe being a 9 or 10/10 but sacrificing feel or comfort, then go for these. Also great for wider toe boxes.SIZING NOTEOne thing to be aware of is that for me they def run large. I am almost ALWAYS a size 12 or even 12.5 in regular shoes and an 11.5 in athletic shoes where I like my toes crammed up on the end with about half-pinky width of space (soccer, tennis mainly). In these I tried a 12 and 11 and even the 11 had a forgiving amount of space with thick socks on. Felt no pinching width wise either. 11s run great but I'm happy I tried on in person. Also my buddy who has even wider feet got an 11 too and he was surprised they fit better than the 12s.NITPICKSNitcks the buyer should probably ignore but RMATV/Astars could take into account to make them 6 stars:-I wish you could go even tighter on the latches sometimes. The way the latches are designed makes them stop at a certain point....maybe not necessary, but there could be a slightly better design?–a little bit harder plastic protection below the ankle bone on the flat part of the inside of the foot (I took a spill and the peg landed on there and punctured through. Seems like a common area for pegs to crush in on during crashes. I will say that the boots did the job for one impact and my ankle/foot took no damage and the weight of the bike landed mostly on that zone.

Awesome boots but not ideal for slim feet, ankles and calves.
5 January 2021

This is my first pair of MX style boots but based on a lot of research I think these are a best bet in terms of features, protection and value. I’ve put a few hundred miles in them and am pretty happy with my purchase. They are really nicely built and feel very protective. A note on fit. I wear a size 12-13 in all my sneakers and boots and have slightly narrow feet, ankles and calves. I purchased a size 12 and feel they leave me adequate length and plenty of room to wiggle my toes which seems necessary in a boot that’s so stiff and I’m confident I can wear them for many many hours without discomfort or hot spots. I’m making them work but I would say they’re made more for a typical American foot, leg and calf (wider/ thicker). My sense is that for taller slimmer folks such as myself, perhaps a sidi would be a better fit and route to take but sadly all the sidi boots I was interested in were sold out and I wanted to be riding safe asap.

Extremely narrow and pokey buckle attachment points
24 May 2020

I was excited to try and replace my 7 year old fox comp 5 boots (still love those), and was anticipating greatness from these tech 7 boots based on all the great reviews and even staff picks. However, these are just about the most narrow boot I have ever tried and are completely painful in just a couple of minutes, even with the loosest settings. I normally wear shoe size 13 and go to 14 for boots just to be safe, but these 14s feel like they just took a size 11 and stretched it longer and not wider. Also, there are strong painful pressure points from the buckle attachment points about mid way up the boot, and that has nothing to do with size, just a boot that is not well designed. Guess I have to eat the cost and time of shipping these back. I will definitely be avoiding this brand for boots going forward. Revzilla has been terrific with shipping and as much as I can expect for returns. Five stars to revzilla, zero for the boots.

Five star Premium Boot.

Always have been a big AStar guy. I?ve always believed they made the best stuff. I?ve worn fox boots most of my life, but have always wanted a Tech series boot. They are fantastic. Good grip Super comfortable. The protection is awesome. The only weird thing about them is the smell. Maybe it?s unique to me, but I got them wet, and for whatever reason, they have a smell similar to cat pee when they are moist or wet on the inside. It?s hard to get them dry because of how well they are protected. Offset that with a hair dryer and some dryer sheets under the foot pads. My only regret is not forking out extra money and buying the tech 10s. If the 7s are THIS good. I can?t imagine what the 10s are like.

Great boot with horrible water 'resistance'
24 July 2020

I really want to love these boots, and I do, except for one major flaw -- They have *zero* water protection. Zilch. Nada.Don't pay attention to any review or claim that they have good water protection -- either these people have no feeling in their feet, or they're just repeating marketing claims.I bought these because I live in the desert and rarely see water. Today went riding through the rare mud puddle and hitting the water, it literally felt like someone was spraying water on my bare foot. The water went *straight through* the boot material -- instant wet feet. I literally stopped to make sure my boot hadn't ripped open or something (they're brand-new almost, maybe 5 rides) -- nope, it just went through the 'shift area' instantly.I didn't submerge them at ... MoreI really want to love these boots, and I do, except for one major flaw -- They have *zero* water protection. Not cool.

Really good boots for east coast hare scrambles

My 15 YO faster-than-me son says that initially these boots took some getting used too since the soles felt taller than his old traditionally soled moto boots. However, after a few rides he really fell in love with them. I rode in them a couple times and enjoyed their comfort. I typically wear a mid-width 9.5-10 and these 9.0s don't feel too tight. So I would order these for myself in a 9. Really like the buckles and build quality, the soles seem durable and stay on the pegs, really good shifter feel, but a bit awkward to walk in for me. You kind of roll from heel to toe like with ski boots which makes me nervous about hyper extension of my 50 YO old knees when wearing them w/out my knee braces. So I absolutely wear my knee braces with these - which makes walking much less worrisome. These boots also interface well with my Leatt Z-braces. No issues there. Only gripe I have is that there seems to be no cushion at the achilles area above my heels and that feels a little uncomfortable there, thicker socks or taping my ankles would solve that, which I should probably do anyway. He also reports that they stay pretty dry if you aren't crossing knee high creeks and he has good grip on the bike.

Holy Moly! Let me just say that I have gone through a lot of boots but none like this. I have always ran boots considered budget friendly I've heard a lot of good things about the tech series and was planning on buying the tech 3's, they were sold out everywhere so I went with the tech 5. These boots are incredibly comfortable and light. For not being considered waterproof, they go a long way to keeping moisture out while keeping your feet cool. If I was forced to find a complaint with these, I would say the sole tread could be more aggressive. My pegs aren't grippy but the boots never slip off. The issue is walking around. It could be to scope out a section of trail or taking a quick break, these things don't really have the tread to walk around on. But these ... MoreHoly Moly!
