Out of the 6 drugstore products I've tried so far, this is hands down the best one. Disclaimer, it is also the only clay I've tried. All the others have been pastes, creams, and fibers. So maybe clays are my calling. It applies and washes out very easily, has a nice matte finish, and has the best hold. I like to style my 2.5" hair upwards and this is the only product that truly satisfies my styling needs. My hair maintains its shape very well, even in the wind and into the next day! This product is unscented, which is a plus for me. The only downside is this product is becoming more difficult to find in stores, but it's still available online. Give this product a try, I highly recommend it!

First time user of this product and pretty satisfied with its performance. Took a bit of getting used to as I have been a Forming Cream user for a number of years. I have superfine short hair that has a mind of its own. The Forming Cream was easy to use & did the job well. The Matte Clay however just a little harder to get right but discovered a fool proof solution. When hair is wet, spray a small dose of Sea Salt Spray on hair then dry off. Then take a fair size blob of the Matte Clay. Work it around your fingers then massage into your hair. Usually don't need to comb or brush just style with your fingers to get result you want. Would recommend.

Great product in terms of it not being oily and makes your hair look more natural. However, the hold isn't great and so if you have thick hair then this product doesn't work that well. Overall decent, but probably you can get better.

This is exactly what anyone who wants to style their hair needs. It's very cost effective, only need a pea sized amount. It smells great and has great hold without turning your hair to rock. I really rate this stuff, it's easy to spread through your hair and lasts all day, I don't have any issues with it. Would recommend to anyone.
This is one of the best hair control products available. It holds well without any visible means of support. It lasts for a considerable time. I just wish there was a travel size container as there are of other similar AC products.
Was looking for an alternative to Claymation and this did the job.Easy scoop and applies nicely with a good scent. Washes out easily which is a plus (maybe not so in the rain). The hold was decent but definitely not as strong as Claymation and wasn't as matte as I would like. Overall, I would consider purchasing again if my usual products were unavailable.Thanks ATC
I got this about 3 weeks ago. I thought it would be a great choice however it has been leaving my hair extremely greasy, it’s as if I had left product in my head and didn’t wash it for days. It’s supposed to be medium hold however it’s way too thick leaving my hair in a matte-semi hard state by the end of the day. There have also been a few times that my hair was left with streaks of grey, some one at the grocery store even said to me, “ it’s okay to go grey young”. I lol! I’ve tried the fiber from ya’ll and never had the same issues. I’ll just switch back to the fiber type. Thanks.
American Crew Matte Clay - I've been using American Crew for more than 10 years, the Matte Clay is perfect for men or woman who have short hair with a fade. It provides texture and definition without it looking greasy or you've got put too much product in your hair. I'd using sparingly to start and add more if you feel the style needs it. Its also not waxy at all, so when its time to wash out it, it comes out really easy. Highly recommend

What I like about the matte clay is first off, I'm an older guy and my hair is not super thick. My hair is pretty tight on the sides and I like the front to sort of just stick straight up and back. the matte clay allows me to put a small bead into my damp hair and just pull it through and I usually pull it up. I give it a few moments to settle in and then I use a wide tooth brush and easily style my hair. My hair just behaves with the matte clay. Once in place I usually hit if with a little hair spray to lock it in. Lasts all day long. My hair has a slight shine but not much. I've used so many products and I've settled in in the matte clay.
