The GEL-KAYANO 29 shoe creates a stable running experience and a more responsive feel underfoot. Featuring a low-profile external heel counter, this piece comfortably cradles your foot with advanced rearfoot support. ASICS also updated the midsole with FF BLAST PLUS cushioning. This helps keep the shoe lightweight while creating a more energized rebound in each step. A LITETRUSS stability feature is placed on the midsole’s inside angle. It’s designed to help keep your foot from rolling too far inward during your stride.

I've been purchasing Asics Gel Kayanos for years as they are one of the few trainers made for overpronation. I recently purchased the Gel Kayano 29 model. Unfortunately, the soles don't feel as comfortable as previous models - they feel less 'spongey' and the balls of my feet hurt. The insoles also seem of a lower quality than usual - they are a strange rough, itchy texture. The text that was printed on the insole has also already worn out after wearing them a few times. Asics trainers generally also seem to wear out quickly and develop holes in the toe area - this part of the shoe should be reinforced with stronger material.

I have worn ASIC gel nimbus for years. I bought this style because I don’t care for the new design on the gel nimbus. I figured it should be similar considering they both are for neutral stride and it’s ASIC so how can I go wrong? Well…I was soooo wrong. I don’t if it’s this particular pair of shoes, but the quality is not the same. They look cheap and feel cheap. I wore them to work (I’m an RN and on my feet for long hours) and my feet were killing me by the end of the shift. They def don't fit the same as the nimbus, either. I feel like they may run slightly bigger. I’m really disappointed because I’m never going to buy the new nimbus design.

I bought these to replace my GT2000 (7) And the GT2000s (7) were my 4th pair of GT2000s.The Gel cushioning was immediately apparent - straight away comfort. The shoes are the right balance between true to size and snug. My heels feel perfectly secure and there's great room in the toebox and they don't feel overly heavy.Overall, I feel upgrading from the GT2000 range to the Gel Kayano was a great decision.Re P&P / speed of delivery: they arrived in a timely manner.Overall a great experience both on the foot and in purchase and delivery

The gel-kayano 29 model is completely changed from previous models and NOT for the better. I have been wearing gel-kayano models for 10 years in the same size. I ordered the same shoe this year as always and immediately could tell they were too small and my toes kept sliding forward. I figured I’d just deal with it, until a few days later when I started getting awful pain on the right side of my foot only when wearing this shoe. I’ve been in contact with customer service and since I’ve worn these shoes outside (how else would I be able to test them out to see if I like them), I cannot return them despite being under the 90 day window. Other major shoe brands like Brooks allow returns after trying them outside. Do not purchase these shoes.
Bought these for my Mom who has been suffering with sore toes as a result of developing bunions. She rants and raves over how comfortable these shoes have been! Here’s her words:I just wanted to tell you that I love my new tennis shoes that you gave me. They are the best tennis shoes I have ever had and my feet never bother me. I wish I'd had them when we were walking so much in Berlin last year and this past summer! Now I'm having a hard time - I’ve got so many other tennis shoes and I feel bad not wearing them. But every time I look at my closet I gotta wear these!
I have been wearing gel-kayanos for two decades; they are my go-to shoe. So, I don't know what happened with these shoes. I have been running in them for nearly a month and, from day one, they have been painful. I've had pain at the front of my ankle from the tongue, such that I had to move the tongue to one side and loosen the laces, which, as someone with slender feet, is uncommon for me. I've had pain at the back of my ankle and heel, and even on the bottom of my feet when simply walking in them. I'm flabbergasted because these don't feel like the gel-kayanos that I know and love. I'm honestly wondering if I got defective shoes because, in all my years of running in Asics, I've never had this happen. My gel-kayano 28s were a dream from day one. When looking for some new running shoes I discovered ASICS had the option to cater for particular running styles and I found out that the pain I had in my foot was due to being an over pronator. I decided to give these a try being top recommended for my budget and requirements. The fit is good with a firm supporting insole with noticeable additional support provided to compensate for my run style which slightly raises the position of the ball of my foot and big toe which alleviates some of the pain I have been experiencing in that area as a result. I have been using for a couple of weeks now and the overall pain when not running has lessoned too and I'm hopeful over time these may help towards reducing further this. So far impressed enough to point that I bought a ... MoreWhen looking for some new running shoes I discovered ASICS had the option to cater for particular running styles and I found out that the pain I had in my foot was due to being an over pronator. I used to love Asics shoes. I have bought DOZENS over the last few years (min 4 pair/year). In the past year and a half or so, things have really gone down hill. Not just the shoe quality (extremely inconsistent sizing even within the same model), but more importantly the customer experience and customer service/support. Here are a couple of examples: 1) I ordered a pair that were on back order, my credit card was charged, waited two weeks, then received a 'order canceled' notice. I had bought the shoes on promotion, but when I went to purchase a replacement pair they would not honor the promotion (and indeed didn't even offer me a promotion at all); 2) the same pair that had been backordered then canceled, actually showed up on the site again. I purchased (same size as previous pair of Gel Kayano 29s, just different color), and they were a 1/4 to 1/2 inch longer than the previous pair. Returned and charged a $4.99 restocking fee! Used to be "members" received free shipping and returns. What has happened, new owner? Goodbye forever Asics, you have lost my business.
I’ve been wearing Kayanos for over 15 years, I normally buy 2-3 pairs at a time so I can prolong their lives by rotating shoes throughout the year. My last pairs were Kayano 27s. This new Kayano 29s were a big disappointment. The angle of the heel has been changed (steeper) that it has completely changed the feel of the shoes and has ruined it for me. I wanted so badly to like these new shoes but I kept getting shin splits while using them that I gave up. The shoes themselves are well made, good material, good padding/sole. But none of that mattered because they were so uncomfortable. I ended up returning them…
It's a shame but the Kayano series has taken a very negative turn in recent versions. Something has gone wrong with the quality control and there are serious inconsistencies across different pairs. I've now had to order and return two pairs. One was too small compared with the same-sized pair of Kayano 29's I already have (and a few others I've tried in shops). The other had some fault in one of the insoles. Other pairs I've tried in shops wobble from side to side on a flat surface, which also seems like a manufacturing defect. The Kayano 29's also overheat. So all in all it seems the model is moving backwards rather than forwards.
