ASICS EX89 Sneakers

The EX89 sneaker combines the traditional look of the gel-extreme basketball shoe from 1989 with the most modern cushioning properties. It was originally created by Toshikazu Kayano in the late 80s and constitutes the designer's first project in collaboration with ASICS. The layered leather construction of the upper is also finished with bright colors that match the iconic NBA uniforms of the time. The shape of the heel is sculpted, to improve comfort under the foot in all situations that are faced daily. The pattern of the sole represents an urban panorama seen from above. Its functional grip was initially inspired by the designer's first business trip to the United States in 1987.
