As always, the Gel Kayano is a great running shoe for those with wide feet, and a tendency to over-pronate. It is comfortable, cushions impact, provides good support around the foot and at all points when it is in contact with the ground. Since I first discovered the Kayano (10 years ago), I have never bothered changing, because of the reliable quality and performance of the product. I'm also an awkward customer - size 12, wide feet, and I need a lot of support for my left foot in particular, as it really rolls inwards. If you pushed me to say something negative about it, the only thing I could say is that the grip on the sole wears away in about a year of using it regularly (I do about 30 miles p/w), but apart from that there is nothing I would change about this shoe.

I bought the ASICS Kayano 28 a couple of years ago. They fit like a glove and we’re so comfortable it was like walking on air. They are now tired hence replacing them but as the 28 version were no longer I went for the 29 as reviews said the only difference was that they were lighter. Unfortunately they are not as comfortable. I did one body combat class in them and found the insole material already rubbing away with the friction of my movements. The 28 version insoles have not done this despite being two years old so I am going to put them in the 29 trainers to see if that makes a difference to the comfort.

I've been purchasing Asics Gel Kayanos for years as they are one of the few trainers made for overpronation. I recently purchased the Gel Kayano 29 model. Unfortunately, the soles don't feel as comfortable as previous models - they feel less 'spongey' and the balls of my feet hurt. The insoles also seem of a lower quality than usual - they are a strange rough, itchy texture. The text that was printed on the insole has also already worn out after wearing them a few times. Asics trainers generally also seem to wear out quickly and develop holes in the toe area - this part of the shoe should be reinforced with stronger material.

I bought these to replace my GT2000 (7) And the GT2000s (7) were my 4th pair of GT2000s.The Gel cushioning was immediately apparent - straight away comfort. The shoes are the right balance between true to size and snug. My heels feel perfectly secure and there's great room in the toebox and they don't feel overly heavy.Overall, I feel upgrading from the GT2000 range to the Gel Kayano was a great decision.Re P&P / speed of delivery: they arrived in a timely manner.Overall a great experience both on the foot and in purchase and delivery
I had to send my Kayanos back. Ive had at least 10 pairs of asics over the last 20 years, usually mid priced versions and every pair were great. I thought i’d treat myself and buy a top of the range model this time. They appeared to have a poorly made tongue which had sponge filling protruding out either side. The tongue also gathered up and caused rubbing and irritation when wearing. I done one 3 mile run in them. The inner heel material went bally after only 1 use. I was very disappointed and returned for a refund.
This must be my 6th pair of Asics, and my 3rd Kayano's. The 29's fit perfectly, my feet a wide at the front, and have some callouses, but these fit nicely and provide plenty of room and support.I've used them a few times now for my 5k runs, mainly on footpaths. My previous ones lasted 5 years, half marathon, multiple local runs. Hoping these last just as long.I got them all in black, as I also like to use them in the summer, as they allow my feet to breathe compared to other walking/running shoes. They're great for all purpose, and in all black they do look very slick.
When looking for some new running shoes I discovered ASICS had the option to cater for particular running styles and I found out that the pain I had in my foot was due to being an over pronator. I decided to give these a try being top recommended for my budget and requirements. The fit is good with a firm supporting insole with noticeable additional support provided to compensate for my run style which slightly raises the position of the ball of my foot and big toe which alleviates some of the pain I have been experiencing in that area as a result. I have been using for a couple of weeks now and the overall pain when not running has lessoned too and I'm hopeful over time these may help towards reducing further this. Great experience purchasing direct from asics, tracked speedy delivery. The shoe itself is everything and more I was hoping for. As someone who over-pronates, I have been looking for a stability shoe that also provide cushioning and ample fore foot space for my toes to splay. I hadn’t tested any shoes prior to ordering the Asics Gel Kayno 29 shoes, but I had done my research, and having used many of there tennis shoes, I know that Asics quality is second to none. I am pleased to report this was still the case. The shoe whilst feeling light and well ventilated, has a really secure collar fit and lace tie down. The ride is stable but well cushioned and has been suitable for both long and faster pace runs for me, as well as treadmill sessions. This is a terrible replacement for gelkayano 28! I hate it. It is a completely different shoe to the previous versions. It felt ok for a few days but it pitches my knees together and caused me a lot of pain in my lower back and knees. Fortunately I found 1 pair of gelkayano 28s online in my size. I cannot overstate how different from the previous iterations this shoe is. Most of the gel has been replaced with foam it’s really clunky and thick and the sole has a terrible sloped inwards feeling. Oh and not to forget, it’s made of different material that seems to cook my feet which would be appropriate for a winter shoe.
It's a shame but the Kayano series has taken a very negative turn in recent versions. Something has gone wrong with the quality control and there are serious inconsistencies across different pairs. I've now had to order and return two pairs. One was too small compared with the same-sized pair of Kayano 29's I already have (and a few others I've tried in shops). The other had some fault in one of the insoles. Other pairs I've tried in shops wobble from side to side on a flat surface, which also seems like a manufacturing defect. The Kayano 29's also overheat. So all in all it seems the model is moving backwards rather than forwards.
