I am a 69 year old man with overpronation and walk 5-6 miles almost every day. I have worn the Kayano 28 and 29 for the last 2 years and have enjoyed the comfort and wearability of these shoes. December 2023, I purchased a pair of the Asics Kayano 30’s online. I received my new shoes and started on my morning walk. I noticed after 2 miles my hips were beginning hurt and continued on my walk until I returned home. I had to take my shoes off immediately when I got home and noticed I had very sore muscles in my calves and my hips. Two days later, I thought I’d try my shoes on one more walk and at the end of my walk I had the same results. I went back to wearing my Kayano 29’s and chalk up the purchase of Asics Kayano 30 as a bad purchase and search out other brands. ... MoreI am a 69 year old man with overpronation and walk 5-6 miles almost every day. Good things can only last so long and I think Asics Kayano series has run it course.

I have an issue with my right foot and have worn cartilage on the ball of my foot from working as a service repair tech for over 26 yrs. That being said I needed to change the type of sneakers I wear and switch to a Max cushion for better comfort. I have always gone straight to New Balance or Hoka but was pleasantly surprised at these Ascis and how amazingly comfortable they were the moment my feet slid inside them. I am very picky with my sneakers and if it's not perfect for me then I move on. This sneaker was all around impressive! The added bonus was the color... I was advised by my Chiropracter to buy HOKAs for stability and comfort on my feet. I went into the store asking for the HOKA Bondi 8 or Gaviotta 5. The salesman asked me what were my goals with a shoe and I told him and he wanted me to be open to the best shoe for me not what "I thought was the best shoe for me based on some one else's recommendation." He had me try on four models, New Balance, Hoka Bondi 8 and Hoka Gaviotta 5, and the Asics Kayano 30. Bottomline the Asics Kayano 30 was the hands down winner. The shoe fits like a glove and the stability and cushioning is amazing. I bought two pairs I was so convinced, one for work one for walking/hiking. You can literally feel the cushioning in both the balls of your feet and heel working all the time. This shoe is a winner, definitely recommend to give it a try if you're looking for stability and supreme comfort!

These shoes are not worth the money and ASICS does not stand behind their product. I have never had an issue with numbness in the ball of my foot until wearing the Kayano 30. When I contacted customer service regarding the issue I was told that they to don’t replace or refund shoes for “fit and feel” issues. To make things worse, the shoelace on the right shoes was six inches longer than the one on the left. ASICS refused to replace the laces stating “thelaces come with the shoe” and they do not have replacement laces for individual shoes. You are taking a $160 gamble when you buy these shoes from ASICS online. You need to be certain the “fit and feel” is spot on for you, because they will only refund you money for visible defects in the shoe itself. I came looking for a shoe I could stand up in all day without foot pain. This was the one! At first, I felt like my foot was being tilted backwards. However, I decided to make a couple of adjustments by removing the factory installed insoles and adding a pair of Massaging Gel insoles and a pair of Massaging Gel Heel Cushions underneath to ensure proper leveling of my feet.. These two inserts made all the difference as it ensures my foot position inside the shoe is never uncomfortable. I chose Asics because I have an older pair of this brand that allowed me the lkuxery of standing all day at work with no pain at all! I admit I didn't use the shoe selector as provided on the website to get the right shoe, but given my previous experience with the brand, I was most of ... MoreI came looking for a shoe I could stand up in all day without foot pain. I simply needed insoles that I could use to replace those removed in order to ensure I could get the maximum comfort without the issue of using factory installed insoles which could wear out. Thanks Asics!
For 8 years I have worn some version of this shoe for running and now for walking. It has evolved over time, usually with small changes. This version is a big change from the past. It seems to be more intended for walking now than for running (although I cannot test it for the latter). It has improved on its original strength as an anti-pronating shoe. The sole is much more comfortable -- this is the first time I have not used an extra or supplementary inner sole. The price has increased many-fold -- I used to find older versions (with a bit of effort) for as little as $50. No more -- but this is the first version that it worth the list price!
I'd give 0 star for these shoes. It's the second time I buy Asics that did not last too long. Both shoes had big holes in the heels after just 3 months of use. I contacted customer and warranty service. After sending photos, they basically told me that it was my fault. The defects were due to use, not to its poor quality. They were so "nice and kind" that they even sent me a link with tips "how to wear my shoes". After years and years having shoes from many brands (never had shoes with holes in the heels), now Asics wants to teach me how to wear my shoes. So, I contacted then again, and then I got another email that ends with the following words: This claim determination has been confirmed and will not be reviewed further. Also, this person (who used to buy at least 2 pairs of Asics every year) won't let anyone in his family buy anything from Asics again.
I have purchased a new pair of Asics Gel Kayanos every spring for years. The new and improved Gel-Kayano 30 manufactured with a host of recycled materials is by far the worst pair of GK's I have ever purchased. I bought them in mid April 2024 for $220.00 and it is now June 2024 and the sole is worn down to nothing, the (recycled material) top mesh is opening up and they look like crap. The thing is; these are my walking shoes, hense I only walk in them. I do not run or jog anymore. I have resorted to wearing my old pair of GK 29's for now. The GK30 is crap and destined for wearing around the yard to cut grass etc. It may explain why this "new model" of GK30 are "on sale" already and the 31 is already on the market. When I first tried these on, they felt great. I need a stability shoe due to plantar fasciitis & neuroma issues. This shoe is billed as a stability shoe, but now that I've worn it several times, I feel the opposite of stability. Maybe it's because of the cushioning, but I feel like my feet are constantly moving around inside the shoe as I walk. The result is more foot pain and not less. Now I have a basically brand new pair of shoes that I don't want to wear. Unfortunately Asics does not have a "comfort guarantee" like Brooks & Hoka do.I gave 2 stars because the quality of the construction and materials. (plus they look nice)I'm disappointed in this purchase and would not recommend this shoe as an alternate to the Brooks Beast or the Hoke Gaviota.
I bought this new Kayano when it first came out because I am interesting in the 4D guidance approach to stability, rather than a medial post. The shoe now guides you towards running through the center of your foot, rather then pushing you towards center mass with dense foam underneath your arch. It still supports your pronation, but uses a wider base and a thicker sidewall to hold your foot up. Similar to that of Hoka or Brooks shoes, but I like the Asics way the most so far. The shoe has been great. Contrary to other reviews I do not have an issue with the sizing, I can run in 11.5, but get 12's because I get ingrowns and it fits as I'd hope. The cushioning is fantastic, the stability is not what it used to be, it is definitely less aggressive now, but that is the ... MoreI bought this new Kayano when it first came out because I am interesting in the 4D guidance approach to stability, rather than a medial post. The cushioning is fantastic, the stability is not what it used to be, it is definitely less aggressive now, but that is the goal and it still does the job well. I 100% recommend this shoe to runners looking for some stability in their shoes, but it is no longer going to support those with more severe pronation as much as they want and is moving away from what many walkers in my store tend to ask for. Unfortunately this is the future of running shoes (following Hoka's footsteps to be honest), so if you don't like it grab the Kayano 29 asap. The rocker has felt great on my runs, the cushion is soft and dense which I love, and the fit is very consistent arch wise and width wise for Asics (a touch narrower in the heel, but roomy toe box similar to Brooks). It has felt great for anything from speed work to my longer runs, though those are only 6 miles right now. Great shoe, but if you are not sure, go to your local running store and try it on if you can.
