Awful pain after 20 miles. Awful return policy.

I miss gel nimbus 23 and prior!
16 March 2024

I bought these with high hopes after I had to return the 24s because the tongue was irritating my ankle. Big improvement on the tongue’s cushioning (as advertised), but now I’m experiencing chafing /blistering on my heel that is intolerable—even with high socks. The back of the shoe goes too high. I’ve never experienced such a hard break-in period with Asics. I’m 33 years old and have been wearing the gel nimbus model since freshman year of high school. The 24 model and up have been giving me problems. Please bring back the magic that was the gel nimbus 23! I’ve had to buy them on second party websites and there are not a lot of 23s left. I might just need to try another model sneaker from ASICS or switch to a new brand altogether. Not a Neutral Shoe
9 September 2024

I need a comfortable shoe for working on concrete floors 10 hours a day. Nimbus 26 cushioning felt great on my feet. However, I underpronate, i.e. supinate, so the outer edges of my heels and outer balls of my feet hit first while running or walking. I purchased the Nimbus 26 based upon Asics’ website recommendation for underpronation. I expected my feet to feel neutral in the shoe while standing such that the inner and outer edges of my feet are level. However, while standing in these shoes, the inner part of my feet (the arches) were tipping upward at an angle rather than sitting level. The fact that my arches are tipping upward exacerbates underpronation, rather than provide needed support. For $160 the shoes should come with laces long enough for proper heel locking.

Ugh. So sad about the changes made to the Nimbus. The 25’s were perfect and I actually ran my first marathon in them just last month. Since I loved them so much, I went ahead and bought the 26’s and they’re… not good. For me at least. I’ve worn them on three runs so far and on all three my pinky toes have gone numb in the first two miles. It’s not a size issue. The length and width are perfect and the same as the 25’s. If anything, the 26’s are a touch bigger in length. But I believe the problem is either the new lacing structure or the firmness in the forefoot or a combination of the two. The new lacing structure puts added pressure onto the top of the foot and no matter how loose I make the laces, I can feel the laces on the top of the foot. I’ve never even given ...Ā MoreUgh. I’ve never even given any thought to the laces on the 25’s. You couldn’t feel them at all. And yes, the 26’s are firmer which isn’t necessarily bad, but there’s some very firm areas in the forefoot that just plain hurt once you’re running. Wish ASICS had a better return policy because I would definitely return them if I could. It’s hard to know if a shoe is going to work until you’ve run in it at least a few times, but then you can’t return them, so it’s frustrating. I’m definitely going to be sticking up on the 25’s and keeping my fingers crossed that next year’s version goes back to the previous lacing system and back to the soft cushion in the forefoot.

The ā€˜running forever feeling’ shoe

The ā€˜running forever feeling’ shoeFirst thing that caught my eye on this shoe was the stunning, summery colour that it came on. I was also very impressed when I held them for the first time, and as bulky as they initially looked, they were super light! To carry on with my initial impressions, I didn’t want to believe that they could be any comfier or softer than the previous model, and to my surprise, they really were. After running around 60km with them, I have found a few major changes to this shoe in comparison to the Gel-Nimbus 25, although overall they’re very similar. As a neutral shoe, aimed for longer jogs, the Nimbus 26 pretty much guarantees max cushioning and comfort for miles on end, whilst keeping the bouncy and comfort. With both shoes having the Pure Gel in the heel area, there’s plenty of comfort in the heel and a super enjoyable landing for anyone running with a more heel pronounce technique. The upper mesh and knit tongue is an absolute highlight of this shoe, and I am very glad they kept using this feature; it provides comfort whilst still allowing breathability. The addition of rubber to the outsole seems to be adding durability and grip, with a very minimal weight gain. The most noticeable change is that the bottom of the lace throat loses the ā€œWā€ shape and is now a ā€œV,ā€ the lacing system gets more built up with wider straps over the arch. I find this extremely helpful as my ankles tend to become unstable after a few hours running, and so this new, simple feature has been really welcomed. The most significant changes are the firmer midsole, helping them become considerably more responsive than the Nimbus 25, but also keeping a very similar soft feeling.Apart from those improvements, overall, it’s a very similar shoe form the Gel-Nimbus 25, and if you enjoyed the previous model, you will certainly enjoy this one. It really feels good to run in and it’s a much more firm shoe and definitely up there as one of my top pics for longer runs.

Is someone actually testing these shoes? I have been wearing Gel-Nimbus for almost a decade and I cannot believe how utterly disappointed I was that this show is even worse than last years. For the first time ever I got blisters wearing your shoes. BLISTERS, ASICS! BLISTERS! Not only on the back, but on the front of my shin because the tongue is horribly stiff and just digs into you. You have to wear socks that come up past the tongue or you will regret it. I have to buy all new socks or find new shoes. You also have to break these shoes in for the foot bed to feel comfortable and supportive. Honestly, give them almost 2 weeks before deciding if you don't like them. Honestly, give them almost 2 weeks before deciding if you don't like them. I am hoping that they will last longer because the gel is firmer.I have been asking for Red Shoes for Years and you have only given me reds mixed with pinks and this year a tomato red. It is a cross between Neon Red and Orange. It isn't a Red Shoe.WHY are the shoes GENDER specific? I fall in love with the colors for Men's and Boy's and I wear a Women's size 7 so it isn't possible for me to enjoy those colors? Please make one color selection each year and then just make them for all the Genders so I am not constantly disappointed. Besides, wouldn't that be easier for you all? Not having to come up with sooooo many different color combinations every year for each model for each Gender and Age . . .You clearly do not know what people want since you have removed the padding from the tongue and then used a stiffer material because the tongue was just netting without the padding.Put the padding back. I am tired of having my shoelaces imprinted on my feet because someone thought that was a good idea? The shoe is larger on the bottom so it cannot be because of 'room,' right? I had to change my shoe stand because the larger shoes do not fit.Do any of these thoughts occur to you all when designing the shoe? I am curious. I would love to be a fly on the wall during the designing . . .You know everyone talks about the 18 like it was heaven, because it was. Chuck Taylor stuck to a good design when they found it. They didn't change the design. Just the colors.Imagine if you went back to that shoe and used the technology that you have today to improve the shoe. Don't change the design. Just the materials used and the colors of course.Like a Real Red Shoe . . . Please!I am an autistic woman in her 40's who likes her shoes and would like to continue liking my shoes. I cannot wear anything other than sneakers, so you are my only shoes. Please help me Asics. Please!

I will definitely not be running anything longer than a 5k in these...but I'm tempted to just keep them as an everyday work shoe. Like I said this shoe might be great for other people but its not for me. That being said I'm still an Asics fan.

Still trying to break in these shoes. I have done about 5 runs. The energy return is much better than previous versions. I like that the style has returned to the earlier gel-nimbus models - I stopped wearing these when the bottom midsole became so wide I felt like I was slapping the ground. Cons for me: I feel like the high back of the shoe is causing rubbing on my heel that I have never experienced before. There is also a little bit of rubbing at the tongue when I first put on the shoe. Second, I think the bottom needs slightly better treads/grip. Certainly an improvement over their recent models, but no longer my favorite shoe like they used to be. Finally, ASICS needs to provide a trial to run with shoes outside and be able to return them.
