Buyer Beware, Shoe Workmanship Below Standard

After having been a longtime Gel-Nimbus & Superblast fan, the Metaspeed will be my final ASICS purchase. Shoe could be great if the inside material glue held properly. After three miles though the glue was giving on inside seam of the shoe causing the material to ball behind the heel. ASICS denied warranty and claims this is a shoe fit and use issue and not workmanship, which as a quality professional and long time runner know is absolutely false.

These shoes are incredibly lightweight and feel crisp and responsive. The faster you run, the more they seem to propel you forward. I noticed an improvement in my pace because of the increased stride length and longer air time.Personally, I love running in them, but they lack the stability and cushioning of the Kayanos. I’d highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great pair of racing shoes.Daily trainers - Kayano 30mileage per week - between ~50km

Great Shoe for Running, Awful quality

I bought these shoes with high hopes and was disappointed from the start. Right after my first run I had the bottoms coming off. I notified Asics and they said this is normal wear and tear and not damage that was caused by a defective product. This was clearly related to a defective product. I then had no choice but to continue to run in them. Less than 100 miles the soles were coming off, the shoe was just disintegrating. The shoes were actually to run in if the quality matched. Within 2-3 runs I had no traction. Never buying asics again.

Great lightweight race shoe

My 3rd pair of MetaSpeeds over 4 marathons. Got this pair just in time for Melbourne Marathon when I noticed my previous pair had done over 500k and were starting to show signs of wear. (Probably shouldn’t wear them on training runs, but they are so fast)Some reviews and articles will suggest that the edge is for 10k & half’s, and the sky is for marathons. That is not correct, the edge and sky are for different styles of runner (cadence vs stride). These are a great marathon shoe for me.

Light. Airy. Very comfortable running shoe.

While it’s a very expensive running shoe you won’t find a running shoe other than maybe a Nike shoe made of very similar materials. Fortunately ASICs gives a Veteran’s discount and it saved me about $65.00. It’s a respectable discount! A shoe this light is very difficult to find. Most shoes are much heavier. This shoe is less than 7.5 oz. I am an endurance runner that runs every other day, so I require a quality shoe that won’t fatigue my feet or legs. You will have faster running times with this shoe as a result. While it’s probably the most comfortable running shoe I have owned it’s also a good looking shoe. The shoe is made to breathe and provide ample cushioning. The shoe is made to breathe and provide ample cushioning. Just a little more arch would be helpful, but as in other shoes I have used, I simply place arched inserts in the shoes, and this adds additional cushioning if you feel you need it. I wear a men’s size 11 in running shoes because the next half size down is too small and the next size up is a little big, but placing the inserts in the shoe fits almost perfect. They may seem a tad big around the top of the foot but I think that’s by design for a more comfortable fit and less weight. And it works for me. The strings are a little difficult to grab for pulling the laces tight and the tongue is a little thin, but it’s by design I am sure for a lighter shoe. As I said the only other light shoe of this quality is the Nike Vaporfly ZoomX at about 6.9 oz., for about the same price and I liked that shoe, however, when I learned that Nike overtly supports “woke” and “cancel culture”, I will no longer purchase any Nike products and have informed family and friends of their practice with hope they too will boycott anything Nike. I now have two pair of these same ASICs shoes to allow for rotation. I recommend this shoe. It will definitely help your running if that’s what you do regularly.

Lightweight and Super Comfy

After a long wait, I finally got a pair because it was out of stock on the ASICS website. Before purchasing, I watched some videos on Youtube to get to know METASPEED EDGE+ better. I purchased a pair of Kayano 24 years ago and loved the pair a lot. It's just about time to replace the Kayano 24.I don't go for a run often, but running is part of my job description, and I wouldn't say I like running with heavy running shoes. I tried it out earlier this afternoon when I went to do the beep test. When I got this pair, it surprised me how light they weighed. The support and stability were good during the warm-ups when I just ran slowly, and it got better when I got into the beep test. I ran on a concrete surface and felt better about my knees and feet, as it caused less pain and fatigue after running. I also felt like it helped me conserve more energy and could go further (a few more laps) with my training, which was excellent, and I absolutely loved that. I cannot wait to wear the pair for my weekly 5K run, and I believe the experience will be as great as, if not better, than the beep test experience.Regarding sizing and fit, I got US Men's size 9/42.5 for Kayano 24 and based on the True Fit recommendation. I went with US Men's size 9.5/43.5. I'm glad I followed the recommendation as the pair fitted me brilliantly.I only regret that I didn't buy one more pair while it was in stock.

Metaspeed Edge+
11 March 2024

I bought my first pair of Metaspeed Edge+ 2 months ago to see how they compared to my Vapourflys and I haven’t looked back! I’ve just bought my second pair of this super comfortable shoe I love them that much!! I feel like the fit is more snug, particularly around the back of the foot, thus providing more stability. Also a little wider around the toe box than the VF’s which for me is provides even further stability. Nice and light, and decent “pop” means these shoes are fast with just the right amount of support. I love these shoes and highly recommend.

[Rewarded Review] Great fast shoe for all distances
14 February 2024

I have been running regularly for 7 years, but this is my first go in a carbon plated shoe, and my first opinion is amazing! The shoe feels so light, yet so comfy and springy. In the week that I’ve had them I’ve been for 2 runs…a 5km parkrun, which I ran my fastest time for over a year, and just over half marathon to see how they’d feel longer distances. The plan is to run a marathon in them in April. I ordered my normal size of 10.5, which fits perfectly. I’m 6’4” and 93kg, and feel the shoe provided enough support and protection. So in summary, everything about these shoes so far is positive.

For the price tag, not a great shoe. Caused a lot of numbness in the forefoot while running. I had to lace them really loosely to avoid discomfort. The other thing I noticed, which I have noticed on other ASICS shoes I have used. Tried them in store in London and they were surprisingly comfortable (albeit didn't feel 100% stable), but I'm not a very fast runner, so I didn't mind. Went around to try some other carbon plated shoes and even though the Adizero PRO was a star, I chose the Metaspeeds because of the price and because I have been buying the brand for ever. But when I ordered them online, the shoes I received felt nothing like the ones I had tried at the shop. And I have experienced this with two Noosa Tri 14 pairs I bought last year. [Rewarded Review] The Best Running Shoes I Have Ever Bought
28 June 2022

I started running again just over 8 months ago, I was running on another brands shoes, I was happy enough with them, however I kept hitting a speed wall. So like anyone who wants to know answers, Idid some research into why I was not getting faster, I soon realised that my running mechanics & body structure where a limiting factor. Being under 6ft and not having a long stride length meant I reached my limit & the only thing I could do is turn over faster. When I turned up to 184 SPM I soon realised that my speed increased a lot, that I needed to look into shoes that catered for this. I saw a Asics Youtube video about series Meta Speed Edge (v1). Then earlier this year Asics had their Time Trial event where the Metaspeed Sky+ where the show. Then earlier this year Asics had their Time Trial event where the Metaspeed Sky+ where the show. I studied everything about the Sky+ & Edge+ & I mean everything & knew that the Edge+ where for me. I tried to purchase these before launch to no avail, on the day the launched I bought & I have not looked back since. I have PB'd my 5k, 10k & improved my average pace by around 1-1.30 miles / Per Min, which is crazy. I have done 3 runs so far, First was a 9 Miler Threshold, that I simply could not get to, it was too easy, hence 1.30 miles / per min faster, 2nd was meant to be easy that ended up being a random fartlek & my 3rd run was my first race with my Athletics Club & I ran faster and easier than I have ever run before. I cannot recommend these enough to someone who is a runner that simply cannot stride out & is looking for a long distance or fast shoe.
