Best foot wear for more than the gym...

Then the desperate search began to find a store still stocking the 29 version - a new purchase of an old favourite - so grateful to have these for an upcoming event.Sorry Asics, you may have lost me as a Kayano customer - been with you since the 1990s with only a few deviations along the way. .

Good Looking, sturdy but flexible Running Shoes
14 August 2023

This is my 2nd pair of Asics running shoes, and they more expensive than I'd normally buy.First of all they are a good looking pair of shoes, but that's not really what matters in a running shoe, so on with my running experience in them. I slipped my feet in and the fit was perfect and we set off on our first 10K together. I'm nut sure if it was me not being used to the FF BLAST PLUS cushioning or the Gel in the rear and front but the GEL-KAYANO 30 felt heavy on my feet, and my leg muscles ached in places they hadn't before, I also had issues with my Achilles despite or maybe because of the AHARPLUS™ heel. Despite all that I managed the run in a decent time for me.I've now completed half a dozen runs in them and it may have just been that either they needed ... MoreThis is my 2nd pair of Asics running shoes, and they more expensive than I'd normally buy.First of all they are a good looking pair of shoes, but that's not really what matters in a running shoe, so on with my running experience in them. Kayano 30 - unrecognisable as a Kayano
16 July 2023

I’ve waited patiently for a year for the Kayano 30 after skipping the 29s which was quite a departure from my faithful Kayano 28s.The 30s were not worth the wait.A totally revamped overbuilt shoe - like a hoka bondi with ASICS branding. The step in feel is amazing and initially you feel these shoes are so comfortable while walking. Once you start to run the true Kayano 30 reveals itself. The shoe runs a little narrow and short so be aware. The upper is much better than the 29 but has little in the way of ventilation. A wide midsole gives the impression of stability however the overly soft cushioned foam lends itself to an unstable ponderous run. I felt I had to fight the cushion as i sank into it to propel myself forward. Kayano 30 review
9 August 2023

A cpmpletly revised shoe and for anyone like me looking for the Kayano 26 this is not it maybe asics should continuw the good shoes. Why change an amazinf shoe to compete with the trend of brining oht new models. If it works keep it. But this s an amazing shoe. The 29 was horendous.this, like i said is a completely different shoe just the same name.Much more stack and more cushioning but the over pronation element is obvious and very effective. Ideal for the long runs where over pronation affects us most. Not ideal for the fast runs but not impossible either, it really depends what you expect and are used to.

Loved Previous Models, but not sure this one is for me.
4 September 2023

Having owned many previous iterations of the kaynos (even having 2 pairs of the 28's), I was excited to try the new updated model. After putting it on, it feels noticeably different to its predecessors but very comfortable and supportive. The wider base is very noticeable but doesnt impact performance or make the shoe feel clunky. I feel however the change in design to the midsole has not agreed with my feet (my more dominant right foot especially) and i notice that on some longer runs I tend to get a sharp stabbing pain under the ball of my foot. I do accept that this is a personal issue which is reflected in the score. I did also notice it was a smidge snug around the stop side of my left foot around the toe area (and was a tighter fit in genreal out of the box) ... MoreHaving owned many previous iterations of the kaynos (even having 2 pairs of the 28's), I was excited to try the new updated model. On shorter runs i absolutely love the shoe. It is incredibly stable and comfortable and my go to option for my easier, shorter distance recovery runs. Still very much worth the $280.

Not a Kayano
29 July 2023

This is not the Kayano you grew up with. I wear size 14. At that size, the shoe is just gigantic. Running in them was like running with a pair of pontoon boats on my feet. I started making contact with my opposite leg in the swing phase because the shoes are so bulky. I saw reviews from runners wearing size 9 and 10. The shoes already look big at that size. Well, the higher you go, they bigger the shoe as they maintain the proportions. At size 14, these shoes are similar in size to my basketball high-tops from the 1990s. That's not to mention that the shoe tech is completely different than the previous shoe. This isn't an evolution, it is a revolution. Why isn't this just a completely new shoe? Premium cushioned running shoe
15 August 2023

First time running in ASICS and I'm impressed. Having read that earlier iterations of this shoe tended to come up small, especially in the toe box, I was a little worried, but this new designed model seems to have overcome that obstacle - I had no issue with my usual running shoe size (being a size up from dress/casual shoes)The shoes have a premium look and feel, matching the price tag, which is noticeable as soon as they are on your feet. Cushiony soft with a comfortable upper that holds your foot securely. These are definitely a shoe for longer, slow runs - the weight prevents them from being used for speedier workouts or tempo runs. Think long Sunday recovery run - this however makes them a tad expensive compared to other shoes in the same bucket.Overall, ... MoreFirst time running in ASICS and I'm impressed. Running Store and Collegiate Runner Viewpoint

I bought this new Kayano when it first came out because I am interesting in the 4D guidance approach to stability, rather than a medial post. The shoe now guides you towards running through the center of your foot, rather then pushing you towards center mass with dense foam underneath your arch. It still supports your pronation, but uses a wider base and a thicker sidewall to hold your foot up. Similar to that of Hoka or Brooks shoes, but I like the Asics way the most so far. The shoe has been great. Contrary to other reviews I do not have an issue with the sizing, I can run in 11.5, but get 12's because I get ingrowns and it fits as I'd hope. The cushioning is fantastic, the stability is not what it used to be, it is definitely less aggressive now, but that is the ... MoreI bought this new Kayano when it first came out because I am interesting in the 4D guidance approach to stability, rather than a medial post. The cushioning is fantastic, the stability is not what it used to be, it is definitely less aggressive now, but that is the goal and it still does the job well. I 100% recommend this shoe to runners looking for some stability in their shoes, but it is no longer going to support those with more severe pronation as much as they want and is moving away from what many walkers in my store tend to ask for. Unfortunately this is the future of running shoes (following Hoka's footsteps to be honest), so if you don't like it grab the Kayano 29 asap. The rocker has felt great on my runs, the cushion is soft and dense which I love, and the fit is very consistent arch wise and width wise for Asics (a touch narrower in the heel, but roomy toe box similar to Brooks). It has felt great for anything from speed work to my longer runs, though those are only 6 miles right now. Great shoe, but if you are not sure, go to your local running store and try it on if you can.
