These are the most frustrating bottles I've ever used. When you have a hungry baby crying, the last thing you should have to worry about is making sure the bottle is assembled just right or else it leaks everywhere. Even when you're being careful to assemble the bottle correctly, the cap still doesn't properly screw on, or it does but then pops off the threads. I'll do it perfectly, then later reheat the bottle, and when I put it in my baby's mouth, it starts gushing milk everywhere from the lid. It wastes the formula and my time. I regret this purchase. For how much these bottles cost, I expected better quality. I used Avent bottles 8 years ago for my previous 2 children and never had this issue. Something must have changed since then.

Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this bottle set to test out!My little one is 6 months and started out as a breastfed baby, but due to being premie and not latching, turned into a bottle baby with breast milk. When we were continuing to try and breastfeed and bottle feed, I learned a lot about bottle nipple flow rate and correct bottle nipple shape and latching. This nipple shape is not great for correct latching to avoid air getting into the baby’s mouth. The top of my baby’s lip would curl under and it took a lot of effort to get the correct latch on the nipple which left my little one frustrated and me feeling defeated that it wasn’t just an easy and great bonding time during the feed. The nipple shape also makes it hard to clean really well when washing since it is a drastic change from the base of the nipple to the top. The nipple material was really sturdy and would not be broken down easy for teething babies, so that is a plus! It is also very helpful to have a variety of flow rates to choose from for each stage of feeding! The bottle was really easy to put together for an anti-colic bottle. There was just one extra part that sits on top of the bottle before putting the lid on. The anti-colic piece was easy to clean and put together. However, there were a couple times that I didn’t get it lined up correctly and it would leak. I didn’t like how the lid fit on the bottle, as it didn’t seem to really be on there firm and tight, even though it was.The bottle did not cause any extra gas, or spit up and my baby seemed to burp the same amount when using this bottle, so I don’t feel that it helped or hurt in easing my baby’s gas since he has a normal amount of gas for a baby.Overall, this bottle nipple may work for some babies and parents, but I wouldn’t recommend for breastfed babies, or parents looking to get a natural and easy latch and easy to clean nipple. If parents are looking for an anti-colic bottle with minimal parts, this one is definitely the way to go!
We were using MAM brand and I couldn’t stand all the parts to clean as well as the fact that it’s impossible to warm those bottles because of the thick bottom/air vent being there. My son does well with these and the first few weeks I would’ve given them 5 stars- however like many people mention they do leak around the nipple at times. Each time I put one together I have to tip it upside down and then adjust it a few times so the nipple vent doesn’t leak. The green insert has to be pushed all the way down and seems to warp over time making this difficult- and the nipple needs to be turned sometimes to line up the air venting in a way to prevent leaks…. However after doing this they don’t leak. Other than putting them together tediously I love them and will continue using them! They’re great bottles
I previously would have given these a 5. They're easy to clean, baby loves them, and I feel more secure knowing he's drinking out of glass not plastic. However! The nipples need to be upgraded. When you put them in the dishwasher there is a tiny hole that is impossible to get dirt out of. It washes grossness from the dishwasher in there and no amount of cleaning will get it out. I was so desperate I even cut that hole out, but of course now had the issue of dribbling everywhere. Ended up throwing all of them but one away, and for that price? Yikes is an understatement. IF you get these be sure to only hand wash the nipples. Which kind of defeats the purpose pf having washable bottles. Probably best to save yourself the trouble and get a cheaper but better quality ... MoreI previously would have given these a 5. I used these for my 2nd child and had no problems. I just started using them again for my 3rd child and these are terrible. I’m not sure if they changed something or if it’s user error. They leak like crazy and get her clothes full of milk. My newborn gets so upset because she can’t get enough milk out since the level 1 flow is so slow. The green piece also keeps popping out which is annoying. Unfortunately, I had to recycle these and get a new brand of bottles that works so much better for us. Think twice before getting these.
I used classic Avent with my first two kids and loved them. They were the perfect bottle. Few parts, well vented and easy to clean. I was hesitant to use them after the change to add the valve, but tried them anyway. I really liked the durability of the bottle and wanted them to work.Pros - the valve is one piece and easy to clean. Sometimes it guides the air out of the nipple if the baby is positioned on their back.Cons - the Airflex nipple was well vented and preformed it’s job better than the new design, this new nipple is not vented at all. Air flows in back through the tip and makes air bubbles in the milk. The air bubbles don’t go through the valve unless baby is sitting all the way back, so they stay where they are if pace feeding and baby takes in the air, ... MoreI used classic Avent with my first two kids and loved them. Yes, even when you fill the nipple with milk before feeding. The valve needs to be pushed in firmly around the neck of the bottles or it leaks terribly, hard to do with one hand.I regret buying this and wish I had went with another vented nipple bottle such as Parents Choice or Lansinoh. Giving 2 stars because the bottle is still has durable and easy to hold. The vented system on this bottle is nothing more than a gimmick to make their product more marketable.
The Philips Advent Airfree Vent Seal Bottle is designed to decrease common issues related to feeding including colic, reflux, and gas by keeping the nipple full of milk instead of air. They come in a variety of sizes and starter packs, and for the purpose of this review, I was sent a 3 pack as part of the Stellar Product testing panel. The bottle comes with 5 pieces: a 9oz bottle, a #2 nipple, the ring that the nipple fits in and screws on the top of the bottle, the lid/cover, and air-free vent. The air-free vent is a single piece, promising that this product is simple to use and easy to clean.Overall, I had a great experience with these bottles. While we (luckily) dont have a colicky baby, our LO does enjoy a post-feed spit up from time to time and was known to be quite gassy after a big bottle so we were still able to benefit from this product. With this simple yet effective design, there was a noticeable decrease in the amount of gas and spit up that she had following a full feed. What I really liked about this design was that I am able to sit her up more than with a traditional bottle, as the nipple remains more full of milk regardless of the angle. This has made night feedings a little easier and with less interruptions. I also really like the shape of this bottle as its shorter and wider and does not lose volume. The only downside I found to using this product is having an extra piece to clean and sanitize, especially if we are cycling through and using all of the bottles back to back. However, that being said, because it is just one piece it is easy to clean, and it sits at the mouth of the bottle effortlessly. Also as my baby gets older, I find that we dont need to use the air-free vent as often as she is naturally having less feeding issues.I gave this product a 4 star rating because I am unable to speak to whether or not it does reduce more extreme cases of colic specifically. I did see a reduction in gas and spit up with my LO, and I really like the bottle overall and continue to use it. In general, I would definitley recommend this product to my friends who have feeding issues related to gas and discomfort.
My daughter is almost 3 months old and it was time to get her a level 2 nipple for her Dr. browns anti colic bottles. When I went to buy new nipples for them, I saw the avent anti colic bottles and figured I’d give them a shot. The dr.browns would always get milk suctioned into the air vent and cause milk to spill out of my daughters mouth. After switching from dr.browns anti colic to these avent anti colic bottle it has been a game changer! She is no longer spilling milk out the sides of her mouth, she is WAY less gassy and less fussy & it somehow also helped her stop spitting up as much. We completely threw away the dr browns and got 2 more packs of these bottles. Can’t reccommend them enough! Not to mention the parts are so much easier to clean than dr browns ... MoreMy daughter is almost 3 months old and it was time to get her a level 2 nipple for her Dr. browns anti colic bottles.
