One of the best Glycerin yet. Been using Glycerin for regular road running since the 17, this is my favorite pair yet and I plan on buying multiple pairs before the 21 takes over. Tons of cushion, very lightweight and decently breathable, break-in very quickly, and true to size.My biggest complaint with the 19 was they ran small compared to prior models. That’s no longer the case, luckily. Order the size you normally would for your running shoe (approx. 0.5-1 sizes larger than your normal shoe). As a reference, put side-by-side against the wall, my size 8 Glycerin 20s are the exact same size and length as my size 8.5 Glycerin 19s. I typically wear a size 8, so I’m happy they’ve corrected their sizing back to the norm for the 20.Overall, fantastic shoe, best yet ... MoreOne of the best Glycerin yet. These shoes are incredibly comfortable! I'm not a runner, but I am very active, walk a lot for work and pleasure, and have a few issues with my feet that cause pain. I recently threw away several old pairs of shoes from various brands and chose to replace them with this pair of Brooks Glycerin 20s and a pair of Hoka Clifton 8s. Both shoes are very comfortable and work great, but I like these a little bit better! They are the best fit, the most comfortable, and the most accurate to the picture compared to the Hokas. Don't get me wrong, I like both brands, but this has been the biggest hit so far! I love that the sole on these is actually a light grey color as opposed to white. Doesn't show dirt and scuffs as much, and it looks exactly as pictured! Also, I typically ... MoreThese shoes are incredibly comfortable! Sometimes the 15s are just too small, but these 15s are perfect, which is why I selected that they fit a little roomy and run a little large. So, if you're in between sizes, you may want to go down to the lower size, but overall these shoes fit incredibly well!

The most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned hands down. Previously I’d had two pair of Launch 7 and 8. Read the reviews and decided to bite the bullet and order. The price was definitely a slight deterrent. I’m so happy I gave in. Feels like walking on a cloud all day. The shoe doesn’t feel as heavy as I thought. Even after a long day or much exercise, whatever else gets sore or hurts, my feet never do. I was given a brand new pair of Adidas Supernova 2 as a birthday present. Nowhere near the same. The first day I wore them, before the day was over I sat down and ordered my second pair of Glycerin 20’s. This time I am trying the GTS. That purchase marks my fourth Brooks purchase and second Glycerin purchase. Nothing else truly feels right on your foot once you wear ... MoreThe most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned hands down. I have high arches, narrow heels, and normally fit between a 2E and D, so finding a shoe that fits well, is comfortable, has plenty of padding, and doesn't slip is hard.I had a shoe from another brand that had the sock type liner that I love, but is old and beat up and have had problems finding another. This shoe was intriguing, but unfortunately didn't come in a 2E, but I decided to try it anyway. Glad I did. I fits perfectly.Prior to purchasing it I read all the reviews, especially the negative ones.I have a suggestion that may solve the issues of some buyers saying it was too narrow, pinched, and didn't work for high arches as I initially had those issues when I first tried on the shoe. When you first try on the shoe, loosen the laces all the way to the ... MoreI have high arches, narrow heels, and normally fit between a 2E and D, so finding a shoe that fits well, is comfortable, has plenty of padding, and doesn't slip is hard.I had a shoe from another brand that had the sock type liner that I love, but is old and beat up and have had problems finding another. Amazing difference. Fit now is perfect.Great shoe.
I think it’s worth noting that I’m a new runner. Although I do have an athletic background. I’m also a heavier guy at around 230lbs. Athletic build, but heavier runner for sure. I bought these shoes after researching several. I landed on these because of Brooks reputation in the running community and the cushion that these come with. The shoe right off the bat fit great and was super comfortable. I really loved them at first. However the more I ran in them I began to develop some pretty serious knee pain. I’ve tried diagnosing different areas such as running form, possible overuse, or lifting causing the issue. Through trial and error, and trying other shoes that I had previously, I came to the conclusion that this shoe was the cause of that knee pain. Through trial and error, and trying other shoes that I had previously, I came to the conclusion that this shoe was the cause of that knee pain. I believe due to the high heel to toe drop and max cushion causing me to heel strike more than normal. In a bigger guy like myself this caused issues and I found I am much better off in a lower heel to drop shoe with more responsive cushioning. All this to say I think this shoe could be great for the right type of runner. I loved the fit and these were incredibly comfortable. They just simply did not work for me. Not to say they will not work for you, just something to consider if you’re a similar runner to myself.
I've always heard good things about Brooks, but I've never been able to find one that fit me perfectly or comfortably. And believe me, I've tried several different styles over the years, but they've all fit...strange. Sometimes they were too tight, or the arch hit too far forward, or the heel cup was too narrow and struck my heel every time I took a step. And this was consistent with every size, across the board.Well, I don't know if someone got the memo, but with the Glycerin 20, that ALL changed! I'm not sure I've ever had more comfortable shoe and I don't buy cheap running shoes. These things are smooth, full of cushion, light on the feet, and even after wearing them in an amusement park for 10 hours pushing my kids around all day in a stroller, I forget ... MoreI've always heard good things about Brooks, but I've never been able to find one that fit me perfectly or comfortably. These things are smooth, full of cushion, light on the feet, and even after wearing them in an amusement park for 10 hours pushing my kids around all day in a stroller, I forget they're even there. I'd wear these to bed if my wife wouldn't kick me out - they're that comfy! Now with that in mind, I haven't done serious running (10+ miles/week) in over a decade, but I'm at that point in my life where I need to think twice about my health and get back in shape. So I've started up again, smaller runs, long walks...that sort of thing (baby steps, right?) just to make sure I'm not hurting myself. But I tell ya, I think these shoes could stand up to any sort of run you put them through: chasing kids around an amusement park is pretty good practice for shoes outside of an ultra-marathon, in my honest opinion. If you're on the fence about trying these shoes, do yourself a favor and give in to the 'yes" - they're amazing and you won't be disappointed. Just make sure to get a color you like! Oh, and wear comfy socks, too.EDIT: after 4 weeks of near constant wear, the style badge on the back of the shoe has come loose. It's minor, I don't blame the brand or manufacturer, sometimes glue just doesn't stick. There's no way to know if this portion of my experience will be representative of yours and it's nothing a small dab of super glue can't fix.
I was on my fourth pair of Ghost 11 Wide, as recommended by a local Runner's Store. The first pair were from the Runner's Store,, appreciating the time they spent with me. The next three pair were from Altitude Sports. Fast forward to now. I went back to the same Runner's Store and was told I should have been in in a Ghost 11 1/2 Regular - not the 11 Wide as they originally recommended. The Wide were "sloppy" and "too short".For the record, I have been a 10 1/2 in a normal shoe most of my life. Being gun-shy. I decided to go to two competing Runner's Stores and received further conflicting recommendations (11 1/2 Wide & 12 Regular). So confusing and so disappointing considering they were the experts commenting on the same shoe! So confusing and so disappointing considering they were the experts commenting on the same shoe! Then my senses took over - Altitude Sports have me covered if they don't fit - they will exchange them - no problem. Most of the Runner's Stores had to order in - Altitude had them in stock. And so, I went crazy, instead of getting yet a fifth pair of the Ghost in grey (being the only colour wide seems to come in) I went for the Brooks Glycerine in a 11 1/2 Regular (as they are spec'd slightly wider than the Ghost). A perfect fit - and received them in TWO days instead of two weeks from the Running Stores, oh, and they are NOT grey!
I started with the DNA and loved them so much I had to find their equivalent when it was time to replace them a long while back. Since then, I’ve ordered the Glycerin shoes. I had 19s before these 20s.The shoes are beautiful and have a great instep, but it seems like Brooks made some changes to the style with the release of the 20. They’re bigger—more room in the toe—which means my usual half size up from a snug fit (my feet swell like crazy when hot) is like wearing clown shoes. The laces are too long now. They used to be the perfect length (lace length is one reason I don’t like the Ghost shoe).Overall, I’m pretty disappointed. These aren’t cheap, but I care about my knees so I replace them every six months. Now, I’m stuck with a pair of shoes that doesn’t fit right (couldn’t return them after wearing them for a long walk) and find myself wearing my 19s again. If you’re wondering why I didn’t simply try them on, note they didn’t work, and return them, it’s because I have to wear a shoe while working out so my feet do the weird thing they do before I know if they work or not. My 19s are perfect, so I had no reason to believe these would be any different. My options are: Order again, a half size down, and hope they fit, or wear ill-fitting shoes for 6 months and risk injury.
I may go back to these. What I really want is a Glycerin Trail with Vibram Megagrip, and lower around the ankle bones. I was wanting a trail shoe, so I tried the Cascadia 17. While I liked the lower ankle bone area, I was wanting to go back to the Glycerin for the higher toe box. Then I wanted to go back to the Cascadia for the lower ankle bone area, grip, and not feeling the cushioning compress every step while rucking. I love black shoes, so the Glycerin. If the two shoes could have a baby. The Brooks Hatlen (Shawshank movie reference). My feet are size 9.5 medium. I have found the further I ruck, the bigger size shoes I need. I have a different brand I wearing in a 10. The next model I needed a 10.5. Now I prefer an 11 Wide in all my shoes. I also like the ... MoreI may go back to these. I also like the Cascadia because I don't have to tighten the heck out of the laces like I do with the Glycerin. Maybe I will just stop wearing shoes. I know I can't do that due to the different types of terrain I ruck on. I ruck everywhere. I don't own a vehicle, so I need shoes that work all day, as the only shoes I own. I seem to spend a lot of money for shoes that don't totally work for me. I just kind of settle for sorta works. Hopefully I can find something that totally works in the future.
This review may be awfully specific to certain circumstances but I hope it may help another runner.1. This shoe is very slippery in wet conditions. I took them on a couple of road and sidewalk runs after some rain - the pavement itself felt slick, however anytime I hit a plastic crosswalk indicator I may have well been stepping onto an ice rink.2. I was trying to upgrade my extremely old Saucony Ride 8 (these have a lot of miles on them and any cushion is flat at this point), and I only otherwise walk/hike in zero-drop altras. Running in these really messed up my knees, lower back, and legs. I'm going to attribute this to the heel to toe drop these have on them... which is in stark contrast to my other shoes. I should have known better but I didn't - hoping this ... MoreThis review may be awfully specific to certain circumstances but I hope it may help another runner.1.
