I'm a casual rider and opted for the Burton Step On system. I tried on both the 2021 Rulers and Photons, and the verdict is that the Rulers definitely fit my foot better out of the two. There was no heel lift, or hotspots. Boots are true to size. I have normal feet. The flex is a bit on the soft to soft-medium side, but are super comfortable.
I love these. Not have to unstrap/strap my bindings after every run has probably added 30 minutes to each day. Quite comfortable and warm. SIZE UP, I think they run small.
I was impressed that Melbourne Snowboards sent these so quickly and they arrived in excellent condition. I think however that Burton should make the Ruler boot in a wide fitting, as well as provide an ankle dial for it too. I had to remove the hairworms, as always with everything, from the linings. I got the sizing with the regular Rulers and then thought I'd be fine with the Step On versions because they should basically be the same shoe right?No they're not. They're extremely tight to the point where it gets uncomfortable after 30 minutes. I wanted to switch it out with the 8.5s, but the employee there was an absolute bloke and just would not let me walk away with the 8.5s. He kept swearing that after a heat mold and the hydraulic press, my feet would feel comfortable.Turns out he's wrong. I want to get these shoes off immediately and the guy at the store wasted about 2 hours of my time. I am just a casual rider, but I finally took the (expensive) plunge and invested in Burton step on boots and bindings, and I am never going back. This will transform your experience. SO much of my middle age rapid exhaustion on the slopes is because of the incessant up and down required with strap bindings, not to mention my frequent wiping out off the lifts (don't judge). It took just a little getting used to, but this binding set up gives you so much more control and feel while riding, coming off the lifts, and getting on and off the board. You also don't have to drag the board with one leg through the lift line, which is amazing. The men's size 10 boot will fit on the women's large step on binding. Hail to all the moms who ride??

Great boots, very comfortable, and the flex is perfectFor information, my strongest foot is about 25.8cm and the US size 9 fits perfect.
