The days of flappy wind-proof cycling jackets are over. Castelli was one of the first to make aerodynamic wind-proof jackets. Since then, Castelli has made improvements. Wind and waterproof jackets such as the Idro are lighter and more compact than ever. The Squadra blocks wind completely but unlike many of its predecessors, the Squadra fits like a second skin. Beside wind-blocking, the jacket is breathable so sweat and heat get drawn outwards. At around 100 grams in weight, it is incredibly lightweight. Stretch panels are tightly knit and the high collar keeps drafts out. No material flaps around in the wind nor does cold air circulate into the jacket. The design creates a perfect fit no matter what position you hold on to the bike. Reflective details on chest and lower back increase visibility when the sun is low or covered by clouds. The Squadra is easy to fold into a small package and store in your rear jersey pocket.

A light weight jacket as an extra layer for rain or cold. Packs small in the rear pocket of the jersey. This replaced a similar older castelli rain/wind breaker that cost $50 from many years ago that isn?t made anymore.Castelli sizing is always a problem depending on what you?re buying. I?m 5?7? and 152 lbs with medium build. The medium size was tight like race fit with not much room for layers underneath. I gave this to my wife. The Large size was perfect and allows room for long sleeve thick jersey without being too baggy and flapping in the wind. I haven?t tried it in the rain but should work fine most of the time and I?m not planning on riding in a down pour. Also works great as a windbreaker for added warmth. Looks well made. It should last for awhile as long ... MoreA light weight jacket as an extra layer for rain or cold. Packs small in the rear pocket of the jersey. Excellent light weight cycling shell. Great for cutting the wind on early morning spring and fall rides. Folds down nice and compact when things get warmer. Not waterproof but good enough for light drizzle. Typical Castelli sizing so order one size up from you normal size.

After reading many reviews of the Castelli Squadra Stretch Jacket, I was hesitant to purchase this cycling jacket in my usual size (L). I gambled and went with the suggestion of going 2x ones usual size and ordered XXL and was pleasantly surprised that it fit perfectly. Highly recommend sizing up 2 sizes if you’re interested in purchasing this jacket. It’s very light weight and fits in one’s jersey pouch when not needed. The quality of the garment is first rate and is competitively priced. Another great product from Castelli.

I lost my previous ultralight wind shell (another manufacturer), so I came across this. This is almost as light and compact as my old jacket, but seems to be much more durable. I like how it is a trim fit and does not flap around in the wind. The stretch parts of the jacket provide a bit of breathability, but for the most part, the jacket is not as breathable as those with more substantial vents or made with more expensive material. That wasn’t a primary criterion for how I will use this.I will say what others have said that this fits small, even by Castelli standards, when compared to their other products. It is stretchy enough to fit ok, but size up if you don’t want to accentuate any bulges!
I was looking for a light outer layer that provided a tighter fit than what I previously was wearing. I sized up based on the reviews that I saw (I usually wear a medium, so I went with a large). The jacket still feels somewhat tight over a long sleeve jersey, but feels good overall. I'm not sure if it'll fit over a jersey that has stuff stored in the back pockets but I haven't gotten that far yet. Overall I'm happy with the purchase; I like how light it is and the stretch feels good for mobility. But definitely pay attention to the sizing.
Jacket is a bit transparent therefore your shirt can still be seen a bit. It has water resistance properties but it doesn't sweat me out when I used it on chilly mornings. As for the fit, it's almost identical with the size of a Castelli jersey and I bought small. The waist has a bit less stretch than their jersey. A bit more room upper body, arms, shoulders and chest, won't restrict your riding at all. I wore it a few times already in my rides and packs very small to fit in your jersey's back pocket.
Even smaller than I expected based on the review. My husband wears a large for a standard fit, and an XL for a roomy fit or layering. He could barely get into the XL. I wear a men's medium, and it barely fit me and felt tight. Otherwise, it's a super light jacket and the fabric is so thin that it easily gets caught into the zipper which would drive me nuts. Seems technically good, but not what we needed/expected.
I think this is a quality product for what it costs. The fit is even tighter than for other Castelli jerseys. I wear an S for Castelli jerseys, but an M for this jacket, and even then, it is tight because the material is not stretchy. Packs down well to fit in a jersey back pocket so you can take it out as needed. The zipper is finicky - it's not a YKK zipper.
This ultra packable jacket is perfect for warming up at the beginning of your early morning group ride or for cutting the wind on a snappy descent. Excellent at keeping your body heat in; not great for rain. It runs slightly small, but it isn't meant to be a layering piece. Think of it like a wind sleeve that fits snugly over your aero jersey. I kept the size medium.
kudos to altitude sports once again for their amazing returns process. i had to make an exchange for a larger size. i am 6'1" and 195lbs, broad-chested, athletic build. i read the reviews on this before ordering, and ordered a size L - i am usually a M in shirts (i like them fitted), but the L was too small (i wear a L in craft jerseys, if that helps). exchanged for an XL and it fits perfectly over a jersey, and the stretch panels allow full articulation.as for performance, i wore this over a jersey on a cloudy and blustery 8ºC day, and while i was a little chilly on the outset, after 10 minutes i was comfortable and after 90 minutes on my return i was downright hot. very happy with it, especially for the price, and it does indeed collapse down into almost nothing.
