The days of flappy wind-proof cycling jackets are over. Castelli was one of the first to make aerodynamic wind-proof jackets. Since then, Castelli has made improvements. Wind and waterproof jackets such as the Idro are lighter and more compact than ever. The Squadra blocks wind completely but unlike many of its predecessors, the Squadra fits like a second skin. Beside wind-blocking, the jacket is breathable so sweat and heat get drawn outwards. At around 100 grams in weight, it is incredibly lightweight. Stretch panels are tightly knit and the high collar keeps drafts out. No material flaps around in the wind nor does cold air circulate into the jacket. The design creates a perfect fit no matter what position you hold on to the bike. Reflective details on chest and lower back increase visibility when the sun is low or covered by clouds. The Squadra is easy to fold into a small package and store in your rear jersey pocket.

I needed a packable cool weather jacket that wasn't like a trash bag. Castelli did a great job with this one. The jacket has a mesh fabric under the arms and into the armpits that allows a little air exchange giving this jacket nice breathability. This makes it great for me for temps into the high 30's. Any temps lower and I'd go for something heavier. It packs up into half a jersey pocket space no problem. Finally, this is a Castelli product so the fit is tight. I'm 6' and 150 lbs. A medium fit perfectly when I usually get small. Buyers probably should size up.

A light weight jacket as an extra layer for rain or cold. Packs small in the rear pocket of the jersey. This replaced a similar older castelli rain/wind breaker that cost $50 from many years ago that isn?t made anymore.Castelli sizing is always a problem depending on what you?re buying. I?m 5?7? and 152 lbs with medium build. The medium size was tight like race fit with not much room for layers underneath. I gave this to my wife. The Large size was perfect and allows room for long sleeve thick jersey without being too baggy and flapping in the wind. I haven?t tried it in the rain but should work fine most of the time and I?m not planning on riding in a down pour. Also works great as a windbreaker for added warmth. Looks well made. It should last for awhile as long ... MoreA light weight jacket as an extra layer for rain or cold. Packs small in the rear pocket of the jersey. After reading many reviews of the Castelli Squadra Stretch Jacket, I was hesitant to purchase this cycling jacket in my usual size (L). I gambled and went with the suggestion of going 2x ones usual size and ordered XXL and was pleasantly surprised that it fit perfectly. Highly recommend sizing up 2 sizes if you’re interested in purchasing this jacket. It’s very light weight and fits in one’s jersey pouch when not needed. The quality of the garment is first rate and is competitively priced. Another great product from Castelli.

Believe the reviews that say this item runs small! I ordered a medium and had to exchange for a large. The large was still a slim fit which is a good thing because it does not flap in the wind like many other jackets. It is extremely lightweight but still provides a measure of warmth. It is great for the days that are cool in the early morning and then stows easily in a jersey pocket when the temp rises. High quality jacket at a great price.
Good for cool days and light rain, and easily fits into a jersey pocket. And for a very reasonable price compared to other options. Castelli does tend to fit small, but I didn’t want it flapping around creating a bunch of aero drag. I have an older version of the jacket in a large, but got this one in a medium because I wanted it tight fitting. I’m 6’ 170 lbs. so for many people it runs small, but if you want tight fitting kit, then it is true to size.
I am 5'8", 145 lbs, and initially bought a size small. When standing, it seems like it is a bit too tight, but on the bike, in the riding position, it feels right. The stretch panels are key - without these, I think it would be too tight, and I would probably split the fabric somewhere. It does not flap around in the wind. It does a good job of blocking the wind. I have not tried it in the rain yet. The hi-viz yellow color really stands out against the winter landscape. It packs incredibly small into a jersey pocket.A downside to the body-hugging fit is it is hard to access my jersey pockets. Sometimes I will ride with the jacket pulled up above the pocket line for this reason. After I bought it, it went on sale at a great discount, so I bought another, this ... MoreI am 5'8", 145 lbs, and initially bought a size small. Sometimes I will ride with the jacket pulled up above the pocket line for this reason. After I bought it, it went on sale at a great discount, so I bought another, this time in size medium. Now, on some rides, I bring both. I can put the medium on over the small, and have an extra layer. Plus, the medium fits better for me for mountain bike rides when I wear elbow pads.I weighed both sizes, and was surprised to see they weighed the same: 108 grams, or 3.8 ounces each. For rides colder than the low 40's F, I would opt for a Polartec-fleece type of jacket over these.
I bought this to wear in the morning when the temp is rising from 50-ish to jersey-only weather. Put on base layer (also to be removed later), jersey and this, and great from start to finish. Works nicely with only the jersey when it's just a tad cool for one layer. Fits snuggly and looks good too. (as always with this brand, buy one size larger.)
This worked very well layered over a Castelli Perfetto ROS long-sleeve jersey. I like the stretchy fabric for some mobility. I went with a medium but I normally wear a small. European styles run small but if you take your measurements and compare them to the sizing chart you'll get the correct size. I used it once on a cloudy and drizzly ride in low-mid 60ºF and it worked perfectly. It wasn't a hard ride and our group did hang out for a bit post-ride, I never felt really cold. It's really light and if I needed to remove it, it can be folded/compressed to fit in a rear jersey pocket.
This jacket is very thin, and serves just to cut the wind. Nothing more, there is no insulation at all. Also this jacket is very tight fitting so you should either order a size up, or plan to wear something very tight underneath it. It’s also slightly sheer so you’ll see whatever you have underneath through.
kudos to altitude sports once again for their amazing returns process. i had to make an exchange for a larger size. i am 6'1" and 195lbs, broad-chested, athletic build. i read the reviews on this before ordering, and ordered a size L - i am usually a M in shirts (i like them fitted), but the L was too small (i wear a L in craft jerseys, if that helps). exchanged for an XL and it fits perfectly over a jersey, and the stretch panels allow full articulation.as for performance, i wore this over a jersey on a cloudy and blustery 8ºC day, and while i was a little chilly on the outset, after 10 minutes i was comfortable and after 90 minutes on my return i was downright hot. very happy with it, especially for the price, and it does indeed collapse down into almost nothing.
