This stuff was so good yummy. I tried a sample and it turns out that I actually do like Chanel No. 5 Eau de Parfum, even though it is much too popular. It's nice. Really nice. Subtle, soft, and confident. It keeps getting better. Very alluring and addictive. It doesn't demand, it beckons. Three hours I get peppery notes but perhaps they are musk. It feels supple, nimble, and elegant. It makes me want to live up to it's magic. Note: I have a sensative, can become very irritated with fragrance, but this is beautiful and lasts well over a day worn under my ears and wrists.

This is a really unique, lovely scent. The aldehydes are prominent, but as the name suggests, in a lighter way than the original no. 5. It's light, effervescent, almost like a fizzy lemon soda. It's bright, sophisticated, airy, and very beautiful. The lasting power is about what you'd expect from an eau de toilette -- a few hours or so I'd say. I love a beautiful bottle and this one doesn't disappoint. It feels luxurious. From the gorgeous, iconic design to the incredibly luxe feeling atomizer, it is such a joy to reach for. All in all, this is a beautiful, modern interpretation of a classic. It loses a star for me really just because of the performance at this price point and because it is a bit of a challenging scent with the aldehydes but I still think it's at ... MoreThis is a really unique, lovely scent. I will never understand the hype about this perfume. They are lying to you. It smells quite awful. Lol This scent is the epitome of a "grandma", "old lady" perfume. (If you're a Gen X-er like me, than you remember those types of scents quite well. Lol That era was before the perfume game had evolved into what it has become today.) This is strong, quite musky, and smells like a very expired fragrance. Add in chemicals, a hint of stink weed and molded citrus. I like strong scents typically. G.A. Sà Intense is my favorite, just for reference. It's strong, but sweet and enticing. It's strong but pleasant. Chanel N°5 is strong, but repelling. (Very much like a bug repellent). It's strong but very unpleasant. It will make you recoil. Smell it in store first, before ever ... MoreI will never understand the hype about this perfume. They are lying to you. Smell it in store first, before ever ordering this online. Ugh! It's just so bad imo. I'm sorry if that offends people, but I'm convinced people are continuing a societal perpetuation and myth that this a desirable fragrance only because they've been told it's a classic scent and they should desire it. Sure the bottle is gorgeous. It's expensive, and the brand exemplifies wealth and stature. However, it's time to tell the truth about the scent.

Chanel No. 5 L'eau EDT, released in 2016, is classified as a floral aldehyde fragrance, with notes of aldehydes, lemon, neroli, ylang-ylang, jasmine, and white musk. I will start off by saying that the look of the flacon is still absolutely gorgeous and simple and the atomizer is something I think most perfumes should really adopt: the continuous spray is what helps get the scent on nicely. Now, this was a creation meant to accompany the modern woman without the heaviness of the powders, musks, and vintage atmosphere the original EDP evokes. I do say that they have done their job well. The signature aldehyde opening is extremely fresh and soapy, and the opening citruses further carry out that zesty freshness. The florals are quite understated, with exception to the ylang-ylang which has been reformulated to be a bit sweeter and more citrusy than its counterpart. At certain times, though, it feels like I've opened a can of Sprite and let it sit out for a while. At other times, it feels lightly powdery and clean. I think it depends on what you smell when it dries down, and where you apply it on the skin/clothes. It feels like the original, but much lighter and more airy. Because of that airiness, though, it feels like it's fleeting quickly. Performance is to be expected for this EDT, but slightly lacking in projection: longevity is around 3 hours on the skin, and sillage is moderate for the first hour, then starts to become a skin scent after that. Modern, effervescent, clean - it's the perfume you wear for fresh out of the shower, or anytime during the day - maybe even a bridal scent. Since it's so light, it wouldn't make much of an impact during the evenings, unless you wore it bed. It is important to understand, however, that since this is a "l'eau" composition, it's not meant to be heavy or long-lasting, so do keep that in mind when sampling. However, it does still retain some of that EDP DNA, so you won't be missing out on too much if you were to get this over the original. If you are a fan of the EDP and want something lighter, or you really enjoy citrus aldehydes, I recommend it.
My husband attempted to purchase this for me for Christmas, but was sold the original No 5, not the L'eau No 5. I gave him a sample of it to bring with him and the salesperson at Macy's told him it didn't exist in the Eau de Toilette which is obviously not the case. We returned it, and I ordered this on line. The fragrance is my new favorite. The original No 5 is strong and even though I wanted to wear it (because it reminded me of my mother), I just couldn't get past the strong scent. THIS is perfect. It has all the good of the original scent but so much lighter. I am in love! This will be my new signature fragrance going forward for a while. If you like the original No 5, but find it too strong, give this a try. I highly recommend.
This is a beautiful light weight scent with the calming effects of ylang ylang. This smell is clean and refreshing, as well as calming... I love to spray it all over my body as soon as I get out of the shower. HOWEVER...I Wish the scent would last longer. For as much as I am paying for this scent, I LOVE...! I wish the scent would last longer. I feel it seems to wear off fairly quickly after applying. I love the scent so much, even as a man... I really wish it could last longer than one hour. I would buy bottles and bottles of this as an after shower spray as long as the scent would last a few hours longer ...
I was so excited when I saw the price. But I was apprehensive about buying it because of how great the price was. I should have trusted my instincts. I’m believe this is a fake. First of all it came leaking, secondly the Chanel logo on the cap is misprinted…. and lastly the cap barely closes and it can twist of off the rectangular piece of plastic on the lid. Also, on pictures of real bottles and in stores the back of the bottle should say “floral aldehydes”, but this has nothing of the sort and only has the number “4500”…. spend a little more money people on a REAL AUTHENTICATED CHANEL FRAGRANCE. I’m so disappointed and sad. :(
I am so disappointed!! I actually bought this because of the tear-out sample in a magazine! I loved it and was excited to get it right before my anniversary. It was not very alluring when the scent wore off before I finished getting dressed for the evening. I have Chanel #5 (a nod to my Mother), Chance, and Coco Mademoiselle. All three are lovely but do not compare to the little strip of magazine scent that lasted in my purse for three days! I would have returned this but I had thrown away all the packaging at the hotel. SAD, SAD, SAD!! Question of the day? Why did I buy the biggest bottle available?? Also, very unhappy with the stuck-on cardboard sticker label and the glued-on little ribbon on the cap of the bottle. I apologize for the rant!
I got a sample of this when buying my favorite Chanel no 5 eau de toilette. I tried it and really disliked it when I first put it on, it was sharp and abrasive. But it slowly changed and after about 45 minutes the scent mellowed into a wonderful complex floral, fruity, fresh scent with a hint of sensuality. This a perfect day fragrance. It's so different than any other version of Chanel no. 5 I've tried, but like each of them, very complex. Definitely try this one is you like floral but not sweet. It's an adult floral. Glad they gave me a sample when I made my purchase! If I'd just sniffed this one on a sample card I'd have tossed the card and filed this under "not for me", but now it's one of my favorites!
I ordered the 3.4 ounce Chanel No. 5 L'eau EDP Spray and paid the standard price of $146.00. I received a bottle that wasn't "up to par", as the beautiful cap, which only adds to the classic look of the bottle, just falls off when I remove it from the top. Seems the plastic "stopper" that is normally inside the cap was missing, which meant the cap would not "click" when placed on top of bottle to close it, but was and is loose and will not stay on the bottle as it should. I'LL JUST PURCHASE THIS ITEM FROM MACY'S or NORDSTROMS IN FUTURE, AS I NORMALLY HAVE DONE IN THE PAST. NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM PREVIOUSLY. Whomever chose this bottle to send to me SHOULD HAVE CHECKED TO MAKE SURE IT WAS AS IT SHOULD BE, FROM TOP TO BOTTOM, ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THE COST OF THIS ... MoreI ordered the 3.4 ounce Chanel No. 5 L'eau EDP Spray and paid the standard price of $146.00.
