Great safe play balls

Excellent product but rather expensive (but a lot cheaper than a vet dental bill!) My dogs (spaniel and a kelpie collie) love these balls. They provide all the fun that a tennis ball provides but not the risk of damage due to weight or fibres. They work well in the chukit launcher which is goog because they get very slimey !!!! Super product, I will never buy another tennis ball. I do make sure that both dogs return their ball after play! at 5 each I have explained to my pair that its a lot of dog bickies!!!!

Note - My fetch player does not overheat so my review is more focused on the ball's playability. If you have a dog that does overheat do consider trying this ball.We have Chuckit! Ultra and Glow balls in regular use at my home - both loved by dogs and people alike, so I wanted to try this version as well. The open form of this ball does allow for more airflow for the dog carrying it (Ultra has no holes, Glow has a hole through the middle of the ball). This makes the ball also significantly lighter. It does not fly as far, does not bounce as high, and it is much quieter (barest sound on concrete, often no sound at all when falling on grass/leaves and none when in the air - Ultra hits the "loudest" and Glow whistles somewhat when it flies). My dog often overruns this ball. He takes off when I raise the launcher but the ball does not go as far as he is used to and often it has fallen, bounced and stopped before he turns around giving me the "hurry up and throw look". So my fun, watching him catch a bouncing ball at a full run across the field and seeing the joy on his face as he comes running back, is diminished. I think his fun is less too (he certainly gets less exercise/running with this ball). My dog does love the feel of the ball though (he likes to carry balls around even without fetch) and does choose it occasionally from his stash for play.

While not as cheap as used or new tennis balls and other fabric covered dog toss balls, the health of my dogs are paramount. Of course, the choice is up to the consumer. I would recommend all non-fabric toss balls for dogs if they frequent dog parks. This particular ball is quite the favorite of my dogs as they satisfy the chewing urge and cannot be punctured. No matter how muddy our dog park becomes, I live in Oregon, these clean up in a snap. Chewy frequently has specials with these toys. I always take advantage of them as I live on Social Security.

Not for heavy chewers, but Carl approved!
30 January 2023

Our dog Carl (chihuahua/italian greyhound mix—he is a rescue but he picked this name cuz we jokingly called him tht and he responded immediately) LOVES these balls. He chews them and fetches them. I believe its softness feels good on his teefs. He is not the type of dog like likes to tear things up so he actually will curl up on them to nap. Its been great for his anxiety. His new lil sister Birdie (chihuahua/pom mix) loves them too but mainly its way to get Carl to chase her. She is 12wks and chews a lot of things cuz u know razor sharp puppers teefs. Even tho she is young i would not trust her alone with these. That said NOT GREAT FOR STRONG CHEWERS! Not sure if it says tht on package or not. But if ur dog is missing teeth or just in general doesnt like to destroy ... MoreOur dog Carl (chihuahua/italian greyhound mix—he is a rescue but he picked this name cuz we jokingly called him tht and he responded immediately) LOVES these balls. Really good balls

I've had problems that the "normal" chuckit balls don't last very long as the multiple pieces come unpeeled, so I tried these. We haven't worn one out yet and they last quite a while. They are light and airy, so behave different from the normal chuckit balls.1. They don't go as far when you throw them. I easily get 20m or so, but if I go to a big park, I'll bring heavier balls. My dog is a vizsla, so when we are at the big park, she wants to run far.2. They float in pool, but only just. When my dog jumps in after it and knocks it underwater, she might have to wait a few seconds for it to surface again. No problem at all, but just different.3. I worry about her teeth when she catches heavier balls in mid-air (I try to avoid it, but sometimes she gets there ... MoreI've had problems that the "normal" chuckit balls don't last very long as the multiple pieces come unpeeled, so I tried these. I worry about her teeth when she catches heavier balls in mid-air (I try to avoid it, but sometimes she gets there quickly). These are light and flexy enough that I don't worry about that at all.4. They occasionally slip out of the chuckit thrower, but it's easily managed once you get the hang of it.I've not worn one out yet, but bought two more, just in case they get discontinued.

The ball is great, but my dog can't see it well
10 February 2024

The ball is great, probably the best one I ever bought. It's nice because you don't have to worry about your dog chocking on it, and it bounces a lot, my dog loves it. The only problem is that my dog have a hard time seeing this ball when playing outside, probably because of the color orange. I assume that the way dogs see orange against the green of the grass makes it hard to see. Even thought they can't see red, my dog doesn't have a hard time seeing her red frisbee, probably because it contrasts against the green of the grass or the blue of the sky. It would be nice if they had different options of colors for this ball.

Too small for my dogs.
17 September 2024

These are perfect fetch toys. Safe for running dogs to still breathe. However, I have lots of them but these are smaller than the others and much too small for my golden retrievers. I didn't get out my tape measure and should have! I was sure these would be correct because there were only 2 sizes offered. I had one that was too large in the past, so I thought mine were the standard. Wrong, they must offer more sizes in other places. Disappointed but won't give to my dogs, will have to find someone with smaller dogs1

Wrong descrpition
26 November 2023

I ordered this ball thinking that it would be: 'Assembled Product Dimensions (L x W x H)9.00 x 7.00 x 5.00 Inches'. I was so excited to see a ball that would be this big. It did state XL. Well, unfornately when it arrived I was extremely dissappointed as the ball was about 3 inches! I would have sent it back, but this was the only ball that I could find that my dog plays with, and she needed one right away. I just wanted to leave a review so others knew that the size is completely wrong.

XL is nice size, breathable
26 October 2024

Got XL ball for my black lab. He likes it b/c he can breathe thru it during 10-min fetch sessions where he starts to breathe heavy. I like it b/c it's larger than a tennis ball, so it doesn't seem he can get it caught in his throat. My dog likes to shake it back and forth hard sometimes, so after a while the ball starts to fall apart. You can still use it but eventually it comes apart to where you need a new one. Last one lasted 6 months?? I'll keep getting it b/c he can breathe thru it and it's larger than a tennis ball.

play fetch with lab. he loves that he can breathe while carrying this back to me. it's larger than a tennis ball, so i don't worry that he could get it caught in throat. easy to rinse off after when it gets dirty. i could see him chewing this apart; i only use it to play fetch with him. after a while it breaks and you need to get a new one. i started getting XL balls b/c I didn't really throw a spiral with this playing fetch. cute look tho.
