I have several Chuck-it launchers, and love the comfortable handle on the Pro. However, I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks, and the medium rubber Chuck-it balls I use, even the worn smooth ones, still stick and don’t release without a full power throw and a sudden jerky stop to force a ball release. That sudden stop motion reduces control of distance and trajectory, and further creates elbow soreness after repeated use, so into the the bin it goes. I’m back to using my old base 18” model which works great. I had similar ball sticking problems with a base level 12” launcher and a 25” launcher, too, so it seems like quality control issue in production. I don’t use the felt covered balls so I don’t know if it’s an issue with them. When you get a good one with ... MoreI have several Chuck-it launchers, and love the comfortable handle on the Pro. Unfortunately, I’ve had three now that haven’t worked well with the rubber covered medium Chuck-it balls. The balls end up bouncing on the ground in front of you.

Our 3 Great Danes absolutely love this. Our oldest, Ripley, especially loves it. She's gained weight since her spay. This has been a fun, interactive way to increase the exercise. We purchased the glow-in-the-dark ball for use with the Chuck-It and I've never seen the Danes more excited. This is the perfect toy for being able to throw the ball farther or to assist if you have difficulty throwing a ball.

We've purchased various Chuckit! standard size launchers in the past and they're great. I ordered this one not realizing you must purchase the larger balls to go with it. I just wanted to try a longer handle. This is my fault for not researching more carefully. Either way, we decided to keep it. It's more cumbersome to launch the ball since the handle is longer, the ball is bigger and heavier, and the texture of the handle is more cushiony at the base, but not as easy to get a grip on.Once my dog caught the ball, he'd busted it completely open upon grabbing it the first time. I have working shepherds and running or hill sprints are important exercise that we incorporate into our routine. Chuckit launchers get the ball going at a great speed. This is their largest and is perfect for my largest dog. He is 82lbs lean and the medium balls we were using posed as a choking risk. This ball is perfect and won’t get lodged in his throat if he jumps up to catch it. The handle of the launcher is comfortable and grippy so it should stay put in my hand when it rains. I can get the ball to go pretty far but not as far as the medium size. The regular tennis style ball that comes with it will wear out too soon for regular use but the rubber balls will do great. I do have to bend down to pick up the ball but I’m a tall person. I do have to bend down to pick up the ball but I’m a tall person. This size is harder on the shoulder - it’s got some weight to it due to the ball alone but the launcher is pretty light. This is a great price for the size and I know it’ll hold up over time.
Tried it out on the beach this morning. My two dogs love it. Read a lot about dogs breaking the ball so I ordered the 2 pack of the plastic Chuckit balls just in case. My dog will sometimes crush the larger tennis balls with his strength;but that’s just part of dogs having fun. I ordered X large as my one GS has a very large mouth. I believe a smaller Chuckit stick would be better for me; but my dog is 120 lbs. Thus extra large. I just swing it two handed, like a baseball bat. Great inexpensive dog toy. Great exercise for canines and humans. My larger boy even carries the stick with ball back to the car. My dogs said 5 stars. As for my 2 handed bat launch, I will build up my muscles too..
This has to be one of his (and my) favorite purchases. This item does "launch" the ball so much farther and higher with little effort. Without it your arm will eventually get tired and sore from throwing the balls. Any of the large balls work BUT the tough balls Chuckit! makes are still in use after the others have been thrown out because they split from wet conditions or being chewed on during play. No felt for the dog to crew off and potentially get lodged in their digestive track. With the long reach on this toy you don't even have to bend over to pickup the balls to launch them again. Must have if you dog enjoys chasing balls.
I don't have to bend over, touch a gross ball, or hurt my shoulder anymore. I can throw the ball 5x farther now. My only gripe is the cheap tennis-type ball that comes with it, which is much lower quality than Chuckit!'s other balls. Sadly, my dogs would rather try and rip the fur off it than play fetch, so it doesn't get any use.
After reading different reviews, I have to agree with them. This launcher is not as good as the one I am replacing. The ball won't come off the launcher. I am forced to push the ball in only partially. Also, it does not go anywhere in the direction I want it to go. My dog chewed off the top of the launcher after taking it from me several times. I am hoping the plastic will loosen to hold the whole ball and to release it. When this breaks , I will continue to look for a different one. My only problem is that I need a large ball and most launchers are for smaller tennis balls which are too dangerous for a large dog.
We’ve been using the Pro Chuck-it 25M since our black lab was a pup and she’s 14 this year. We’ve never had a problem with one breaking or snapping. Our biggest problem is losing them when we go somewhere away from home.My husband and son both played baseball, so they don’t need the assistance throwing the ball a distance, but I can’t throw a ball to save my life. That wasn’t a big deal when Maisy was a little pup, but as she grew, a dribbling ball across the ground was a bit of a disappointment. My son got this for me.Years ago, before Maisy, I visited my sister in Kansas and we visited the greyhound track in Wichita. I’m pretty certain Maisy could give those dogs a run for their money when she was young and on the ball. I’m pretty certain Maisy could give those dogs a run for their money when she was young and on the ball. And she would go all day if you let her.She still loves it, but now she’s slowed down and has the gray muzzle and arthritis. We have to limit her on throws because she’ll still try to go all day, but if you don’t stop her, she ends up stiff and limping.I don’t use actually tennis balls like we used to. They fit too tight in the cup of the thrower and don’t always fly smoothly. Maisy likes squeaker balls, so I get Frisco Colorful Fetch Squeaky Tennis Ball Toy, sized Medium. They fit the thrower cup perfectly and don’t get stuck in there when you try to throw. They are available here at Chewy. They also last long. But Maisy doesn’t chew up balls, so I don’t know how they do if your dog really likes to gnaw on them.
I have a chuck it knock off I used to throw teiinis balls for my Doberman pup. He is getting bigger and I was afraid that he may get a tennis size ball stuck in his big mouth so I decided to purchase a "real" chuck it to throw a larger size ball for him. It came with a fuzzy tennis type ball that would not release from the chuck it. I also purchased at a local store the large squeaker rubber balls for the chuck it. Now I am 68, but we play ball every day so I do know how to use it. Ball is stuck so tight in the cup it won't come out. This thing sucks. I tried to trim back to cup 1/4 inch so the ball will come out with no success. If I hadn't tried to "fix" the cup I would have sent it back-DO NOT RECOMMEND. Maybe I need to throw the chuck it stick to him to retrieve ... MoreI have a chuck it knock off I used to throw teiinis balls for my Doberman pup.
