I received these shoes in exchange for a review. Glad I had the chance to review the classic 70 lows since they are one of my favorite silhouettes from converse! This shoe runs big so I always go a size down when purchasing converses. I usually wear a size 10 in regular sneakers so I ordered a size 9 in these and they fit perfect. This particular shoe to me is a staple in Converses arsenal, just like air force ones are a staple for nike and the old skool low is a staple for vans. I love the thick sole on the bottom as they provide more support for my feet. I also prefer the off-whitish finish that it comes in versus it being completely white. It can complete the look of most of my outfits and I mostly pair them when shooting our bottoms (jeans, pants) as the garment drapes cleanly over the converse shoe, so the customer can really get a good look of the jean or pant. I really don't have any negative critiques of this particular silhouette. Thanks for giving me a chance to review them!

I'm 51, and I've owned a lot of basic high-top and low-top Chucks since I was a teenager. These Chuck 70s are easily my favorites in terms of aesthetics and fit. At 6'2" and 230 (depending on the day and depending on what I ate), I appreciate the slightly more beefy construction because it feels more proportional to my bulk. They're just really cool, solid, classic shoes.

These feel good but they feel more cheaply made than they used to. I don't know if it's the glossy finish they added but the rubber toe looks smaller than it used to to me. Also the foot bed seems cheaply assembled. Stilll my favorite shoe even if they don't look as cool as they used to.

I own two pair, but every time I wear them people have commented on the fact that the glossy rubber looks funny. I'm not sure who it is supposed to appeal to. I wish converse would rethink that. I love everything else about the shoe. Lose the gloss, please!!!
I bought the Chuck 70’s black in mid February and couldn’t be more happy and satisfied with them. They were my first pair at 51 years of age. I ended up getting my daughter the exact pair for her birthday. A couple of weeks later I ordered a low top in white. The back of the heel rubs like no one business and I’m currently trying to work it out by wearing them strictly in the house. The build is good. The high tops, on my case were, better.
I love everything about my Classic Chuck's except the insole, which is why the Ortholite insole cushioning was one feature that made me finally decide to buy the Chuck 70 version of my fave black shoe. Unfortunately, the toe box is too narrow, especially for those of us with wide feet. The Classic Chuck provides a more uniform appearance overall and comfort across the foot. The Chuck 70 does the opposite. I'm a little disappointed and am contemplating returning the shoe. There are other major differences, but I can live with those.
My pair of papyrus Chuck 70s are so different than my black ones I bought a year ago and other past pairs. They’re wider, the toe caps differ in size (I didn’t think it would bother me, but it does), and the canvas feels and looks like plastic. I’m hoping I just received a defective pair or something because these have been my everyday shoe for the past four years and I don’t know what I’d do without the Chuck 70s. Disappointed!
My foot is very narrow. I have a very old pair of All Stars that fit wonderfully. These new ones I just bought are fine, because I can lace them up to be snug in the arch area and the heel...but the toe area is very wide. They don't fit as well as my old navy low-tops...TImes change, but do the width of people's AAA feet? You've let your shoes get wider in width to my relative dissatisfaction...Still pretty comfortable, even though my toes look a bit more like clown shoes.
Usually I never have sizing issues with my Cons. When it says, "runs a little large" that usually just means my wide feet are comfy. These are my first "Vintage Chucks" and hoodaddy, they are NARROW. Length is standard, but you better have very thin feet... The eyelets dig into my toe bend and the side rubber squishes my foot over the sides to look like a muffintop...Unfortunately, my confidence that my Cons always fit means I missed my return window, so I'm stuck trying to figure out how to make them look good and be comfortable enough to wear in hopes the fabric softens up to be wearable. The color is perfect for fall (tawny owl/egret) so I was very excited to start breaking in a new pair-- especially since my last pair bit the dust last weekend...Alas, I ... MoreUsually I never have sizing issues with my Cons. Well worth the extra cost. Canvas is thicker and the added insole make these much more comfortable. I personally like the vintage looking eggshell color on the mid-sole and toecap too. Look like they're aged with all the new tech added.
