A lot of quality of life improvements have been made. Never got to play this when it first came out on the PSP, but really enjoy it. The one thing that sucks is you can't cancel your attacks; once their inputted you have to follow through. This is the one major difference between this game and the Final Fantasy 7 remake. You have to play a little more strategic. With that being said though, it's not a bad game. Worth picking up if you've never played the original or enjoy the Final Fantasy 7 universe.

What a game. What a game. Originally I played and beat Crisis Core on the psp. Back then I was able to play on my TV via the component cable. Very impressive at the time with graphics and audio. I was blown away that this game ran on a handheld. I loved every single second of the game that I replayed it on Hard. I'm so happy that many years later I can replay this not on the ps4 but a ps5. I'm having fun again playing a game as a game and not as a live service or dlc and micro transactions popping up on the screen. All the enhancements given to the remaster makes this by far the version to play to the point going back almost feels tedious. I really love the summons as well they are so good on Reunion. The scene with Sephorith, Angeal and Gackt....I mean Genesis is ... MoreWhat a game. What a game. Originally I played and beat Crisis Core on the psp. I always wished the already lengthy cutscene was even longer with the One Winged Angel playing showcasing Sephorith's real strength. This game gives such a different feel to Sephorith it makes you feel for him. Just an overall HIGHLY recommended game.

His legacy gave life to Final Fantasy VII. Witness the events that set FFVII in motion in the action packed prequel Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion. Join SOLDIER 1st Class Zack Fair as he investigates a mass desertion at SOLDIER and meets some familiar faces. This is a Remake of the hit PSP game with updated visuals and combat to match FF7R, a remixed soundtrack, and fully voiced dialogue featuring the new cast. Performance on Switch is similar to PS4, Xbone albeit with some visual downgrades. However it still looks and runs impressively for the hardware it's on. If you're a FF7 fan I cannot recommend this game enough

This game is absolutely amazing! I personally would rate this game a 5/5 due to nostalgia reasons playing this back on the PSP. If I'm being completely realistic it is not a perfect game.People need to know that before going into this is that this game WAS a PSP game and it really shows in some game animations and mechanics. A good tie over to the revamped Final Fantasy VII. Crisis core gives background on both Sephiroth as the arch villain of the series and of Cloud's Origins. Although technically Crisis Core was built after FFVII I would recommend playing it first so you get a deeper idea of the character backstories and also because the renewed graphics and play is nowhere near the quality of the FFVII remake. We played them in the order they were released, and found our opinion of Crisis Core colored by how awesome a game its predecessor was. As a stand alone, it is fun, but a touch repetitive. It is clear that a lot of the locations were borrowed from the VII redesign. Game play is more linear, without a whole lot of world exploration. THis makes it easier for a novice gamer, but can be a little disappointing for a seasoned Final Fantasy fan. It is clear this was built for a smaller gaming system. The story is interesting and less complicated than some others in the series. Zack is a genuinely likeable protagonist and so different than Cloud as a dispassionate protagonist. The game buttons are the opposite of VII too, which can make the transition tricky.
If you've played the original PSP game you know what you're getting gameplay wise. Its nearly identical, just some minor changes. The graphics are updated from the PSP version, obviously, but still look like a early era PS4 game even on PS5. However, the voice acting in this version is ATROCIOUS. I have no idea why they didn't just get the original voice actor for Zack back for this game, because the new guy did a terrible job. Its very jarring to hear this new voice after hearing the OG Zack voice in the original game who did a splendid job. Also, most of the emotional scenes are just devoid of emotion in this new voice. I remember how well done and emotional the dumbapples scene was right before the Wutai mission in Chapter 1, and it just fell flat in this ... MoreIf you've played the original PSP game you know what you're getting gameplay wise. Context: I did not play the original Crisis Core on PSP, but I love FF7 and its PS4 remake.Crisis Core Reunion is a neat little prequel package. It's pretty short, so I appreciate that Square priced this at $50 rather than the usual 60-70. The gameplay, I gather, has been updated to make combat more similar to the FF7 Remake, and I think it feels great to play. The real-time action is quick and snappy, and most encounters are over in 10-15 seconds tops. The environments, although simple, have a nice amount of visual polish and look nearly as good as those in the FF7 Remake. The story fluctuates between boring and hilariously dumb, but I knew to expect that from a Tetsuya Nomura joint. I don't think I'll be replaying this, but it's been a fun side chapter to tide ... MoreContext: I did not play the original Crisis Core on PSP, but I love FF7 and its PS4 remake.Crisis Core Reunion is a neat little prequel package. Absolutely phenomenal remaster, elevating the combat, graphics, models, and music to new levels. Everything is now voice acted. The combat has been revamped and improved in every way.Crisis Core has never looked or sounded better… for the most part. Unfortunately, the new voice acting for protagonist Zack Fair simply does not fit his character. It’s painfully apparent how much Zack’s character is shaped from Rick Gomez’s fantastic portrayal in the original. It’s disappointing, especially with how incredible the Remake cast was. As a massive fan of the original and Zack as a character, the voice acting unfortunately does hamper the enjoyment.
Like many others, I never got a chance to play the original on PSP. So im especially happy that this exists so i can experience it. The game looks pretty good and while its not a full remaster or remake like FFVII is, i think they did a great job touching up the game to be closer to today’s standards. One thing i must mention is that the game was surprisingly short. Its my fault for assuming that the game would be longer but, to my surprise, the game only took about 15 hrs to complete the main story. You can definitely get more hours out of the game if you complete all the missions but, i found that doing so would be a bit of a drag as they get a bit repetitive after a while. Still really enjoyed the experience and wish that this beautiful game lasted a tiny bit ... MoreLike many others, I never got a chance to play the original on PSP. First and foremost, I have never played the original one on the PSP. So as a big, longtime, and loyal fan of Final Fantasy VII/Remake, I have to say this game has really meet every expectations, so to say that I learn more about Zack Fair the biggest protagonist in the game, fighting monsters, completing missions alongside Angeal and Sephiroth. Yes, Sephiroth, but to really know the story about the whole thing, you'd have to start with Zack Fair. If you're a fan of Final Fantasy game, especially the VII, you'd have to buy and play this. It wouldn't matter what version you get for this game, it'll be all the same. Plus you'll experience the biggest and awesome game there has to offer. So to say, welcome back to Midgar. and say hello to Zack Fair.
