What I expected that I would have the same screen but bigger and with higher resolution.The new U3219Q have much much worse backlight bleed compared to my old one. There is a HDR mode which is best left off for day to day working because it's like working from a TV, the colour gets blown out on folder icons etc. This applies to all HDRs on the market at present. If you want HDR workflow for editing you keep one monitor just in HDR and the other for working. It is beneficial for the PS4 plugged into the extra HDMI socket though. That looks incredible in HDR. As for general colour performance in sRGB, it's absolutely stunning. The blacks are never going to be ultra deep black because it is a matte panel and even apple couldn't overcome that without applying a glossy screen to the surface. You get an immediate sense of the quality once you start unboxing this beast. Resolution is on-point, pixel pitch and bit-depth are great, and image contrast is great for professional applications. For those interested, I'm upgrading from the DELL U3216Q that I had for 3 years (previous 4K generation from DELL/same size) and now will be using the older one somewhere else. I wasn't expecting such an improvement but the colors are much more vivid and I can't see any pixelation - looks like everything is painted on - not being displayed! The text on white is much more clear and haven't noticed any light bleeding at the edges on regular use, but a Pro reviewer did - I'm just saying you won't notice it unless the whole screen is completely black. Windows 10 does however provide a means to scale things up to suit with some minor exceptions. I find with some font/text scaling that the viewing distance is comfortable with the monitor about 20-22 inches from front of screen to leading edge of my desk and about 24 inches to my eyes. The monitor came with a calibration sheet. To my eyes, I felt the 75% default screen brightness setting was too high (contrast was also set to 75%), affecting my photo editing (using Photoshop) and so reduced the brightness to around 40%. The monitor did not come with a detailed user manual which would have been nice (especially to identify the screen adjustment button functions, etc.) but it can be downloaded. I have not yet used my separate monitor calibration tool, but told by Dell that this monitor can be calibrated with it. After only a couple weeks of use, thus far I find the display to be very sharp with great color and no apparent flaws.
This monitor does everything I'm asking it to do. With the built in KVM I use two laptops, one with USB C and the other HDMI, and the monitor will automatically switch between the two as I put one to sleep and wake up the other. If I choose, it can be manually switched them also if I elect not to put them to sleep. The thing to be aware of is the monitor's HDMI is 2.2 which can be changed to support 1.4, which needed to be done for it to work with an older laptop. I wanted 4k but didn't think a 27" display was going to be large enough to run at the native resolution with no scaling (which I was correct in assuming). If you are hesitating because of the RTINGS review, I would suggest pulling the trigger as well. This is far and away the best looking 32" display I have seen (design wise and visually). The display manager makes easy work of making this 4 x FullHD displays. The ComfortView is very easy on the eyes (nearly immediate visual adjustment) and is a couple clicks away if you need to go back and forth for reference. I find I run this display almost always in ComfortView with the exception of final renders.The other concern I had before purchasing was how much space was BELOW the monitor at full height (I was trying to place a studio monitor/speaker below it). I couldn't find anything about the actual height measurement. At full extension, there is 8 inches below the monitor.The only thing I needed to change was the length of the cables and picked up some 10 footers for my particular install and there are no issues.The only "gripe" if anything, is the placement of the usb ports on the side. This has been where Dell puts ports for well over 10 years. When you have dual displays, you immediately cover up the right monitor's ports so you are stuck using the left only. This can limit you cabling options if you like keeping your desk clean. I think a simple solution would be to move them to the top of the display.
