Destiny is an amazing game. This is going to include the base game and all of the expansions. The original story is forgettable but the one thing that keeps you going is the game play. The gun mechanics are some of Bungie's best work. All of the expansions that came before The Taken King is about as good as the original story but they make up for that with raids and new strikes. Raids are great because for the most part you have to make sure that everyone is on point and watching each others six. I know that some pro players will get some raids done solo but this is much more fun with friends or just other people. The Taken King has cut scenes before and after almost all missions and they give NPCs that just were stationary at your home base personality. There is more story in the first 10 minutes of the expansion than the original game. This game has been out for a year and you may think that it is to late to jump on the bandwagon but with this game they give you a pass to level 25 so that you can start your new expansion. They have made the looting system 100 times better so that it is not as frustrating as it was on day one. This game is an awesome game/expansion and is defiantly worth a pick up for newcomer and veteran players alike.

It doesn't matter what type of shooter games your into you will be able to find something you like on this game. You have story play with close to 80+ missions. The crucible which is basically just Multiplayer objective maps. Trials for the hardcore multiplayers. Strikes for gamers that like teaming up and going thru a story mission on hard mode to get better gear. Last but not least by any means is Raids where you have to gather a team of 6 to figure out the puzzles to beat certain parts of the missions for better gear and just to say you've done it. You can free roam to collect resources to upgrade your gear, do random world events, team up with other players just to explore or race sparrows(kind of like a hovercycle). So I paid for the version of the game that comes with all the DLC and it got here and I saw it was a separate download from the game. That’s fine I can type the code into the PlayStation store that’s not a big deal. And then I see the code expired in 2017… for a game I bought in 2023… and paid extra to receive this added content. I don’t see how you can get away with selling this and labeling it as the full product when it clearly isn’t. I understand Bungie was the one that put the expiration date on it, but you as Walmart are selling them as if the code isn’t expired.

It is said this game cost more than half a billion dollars to make. That is an incredibly massive investment for such a really short game. Honestly, I still can't believe how short it is. It can't be this short, can it? The maps for each of only 4 planets (yes, only 4) are medium to big but are barely used. There are only a handful of core story missions for each planet and even these missions feel repetitive because they make you retrace over the same places you've already been. The core story makes it sound like you are embarking on a super big, long journey. Unfortunately this is not the case. You power through the few core story missions and after a few short hours find you have actually beat the game. The core story makes it sound like you are embarking on a super big, long journey. Unfortunately this is not the case. You power through the few core story missions and after a few short hours find you have actually beat the game. They have extra side objectives (grinding stuff) to help you build up your characters level, skills, etc. and this serves as a temporary distraction to the fact that you've already beat the stupid game! It hits you like a bag of bricks once you realize there's no more. That's it. Now all you can do is grind in the same areas which already felt repetitive way before because you've already retraced your steps there. It's pretty much like a small sandbox, and you keep grinding within this small sandbox, repetitively doing very similar things. The fun ends way before you realizedit. It really leaves you in shock and awe as to how a game this expensive can be so unbelievably short.
As you may or may not know Destiny was released a year ago with much hype and praise, the game was made by Bungie and released by Activision companies that brought us Halo and many versions of Call of Duty. The game itself is an online first person shooter and sees you and other players take on aliens gain loot take on more aliens get better loot and so on and so forth. At the original release the game was criticised for its rather lacking campaign/story and hugely repetitive mission structure, I had been expecting a space opera similar to the Halo campaigns and the multiplayer appeal of Borderlands but maybe I expected too much. That said the gameplay and the soundtrack was excellent, the graphics also fine but like the game Rage it did not offer much ... MoreAs you may or may not know Destiny was released a year ago with much hype and praise, the game was made by Bungie and released by Activision companies that brought us Halo and many versions of Call of Duty. At the original release the game was criticised for its rather lacking campaign/story and hugely repetitive mission structure, I had been expecting a space opera similar to the Halo campaigns and the multiplayer appeal of Borderlands but maybe I expected too much. That said the gameplay and the soundtrack was excellent, the graphics also fine but like the game Rage it did not offer much interactivity. The Taken King Legendary Edition contains the original game the two expansions (The Dark Below & House of Wolves) as well as the next chapter of the Destiny saga The Taken King. This version aims to improve the overall experience by reducing the amount of grinding that you had to (something that caused me to stop playing the game), change the levelling system back to the traditional method of gaining experience through missions/quests as opposed to mixing and matching your wardrobe to gain levels and provide more variety of opportunities to gain that experience by introducing more bounties, NPC quests etc. Now unfortunately I have not completed the game mostly because I have not reached the max level cap which introduces further challenges and quests and I'm far too anti-social to form a fireteam and attempt the raids (multiplayer events that involve up to six players taking on some of the more challenging enemies and levels). The gameplay mechanics themselves remain the same and is still very enjoyable and with the matchmaking system which can help you form smaller fireteams to attempt strike playlists (more challenging versions of the 'story missions') adding more ways to enjoy the game, the one wrinkle is the player vs. player component of the Destiny experience the 'Crucible'. The crucible tries to even things between new and existing players by negating levels however this does not affect the skills or item abilities you or the other players have gained, so newer players will struggle against those that have played regularly. Now is the game worth buying? Well if you enjoy the online experience of games like Call of Duty and Borderlands than yes especially if you have not played the original than yes; you are getting a lot of content, great gameplay and fun multiplayer component (if you can build the right skills and equipment). If your looking for a solo experience, great story and memorable characters than not really I would recommend Borderlands 2 it has similar gameplay and memorable characters as well decent humour (this along with the first Borderlands are now available for current generation consoles) or Dishonoured for its more engaging campaign and more varied gameplay. Thank you for reading and I hope you found this useful!
For years I have been a fan of bungie, playing halo and playing destiny(since beta). I used to be a huge fan of bungie until they showed how much they really care about their most loyal fans. Last year I bought the 80$ collectors edition of destiny. The game had been my go to get away since it launched. I bought every expansion, had 3 characters and had spent weeks of in game time. Since I enjoyed destiny so much I thought it would be cool to own something THAT ALMOST NOBODY ELSE WOULD HAVE! I enjoyed being able to flaunt my special gear in the tower and reef. However I was given no indication that this gear would be given out FOR FREE at a later date. I spent my money and time for something that was ultimately free and common, even though I was told that it was a ... MoreFor years I have been a fan of bungie, playing halo and playing destiny(since beta). I spent my money and time for something that was ultimately free and common, even though I was told that it was a RARE collectors edition, only available for a limited time! It is my belief that bungie is a dishonest, manipulative company that cares more about its revenue than its customers. I am deeply dissatisfied with bungie and destiny and will not be buying the future dlc that I have been waiting months for. If you read this bungie I hope you know how many people out there you have disappointed and driven off with your decisions and actions!
Destiny is an old game now and has been replaced by it's successor Destiny 2. Despite that there is still an active (but small) community in the Destiny 1 game at least on PS4. The game has been reviewed left and right and I won't get in the depth of it. In the end it is a solid game and it now offers a plethora of activities to do (if you can find friends to do it with). I got the Collector's edition because I wanted the items included with it (and complete my collection has I have the D1/D2 collector's box) I absolutely loved the art included but it might not be worth it for you. I think this collector edition is great if you are a Destiny Hobbyist and want to complete your collection. Otherwise, if you are looking to get into the game, just get the Destiny 1 ... MoreDestiny is an old game now and has been replaced by it's successor Destiny 2. Hmm, what to say about Destiny concisely? Hard to go wrong for under $40 dollars though a ton of value at this price. I'll just give you my opinion of the pros and cons:Pros:Beautiful environment, this will show off your next gen consoleGreat play mechanics, all the good shooter attributes from HaloPlenty of content at this priceCons:Thin story even after the 3 expansions. Nobody wants to create an account and logon to bungie to read the cheesy grimoire cardsConfusing missions and raids, not sure what to do many times and need to go to youtube to figure out the point of what the game wants you to doTOO MUCH PLATFORMING! I hate platformers where a slight misflick of the stick sends you to your death to start over. This may must be a personal issue. If you ... MoreHmm, what to say about Destiny concisely? If you like platformers you'll be fine.Ridiculous update breaks without warning. I was about to win a crucible match (pvp) which is hard given my lack of skill and bungie kicks me out with seconds left and forces me to update. No credit for the win or daily pvp marks. The game ultimately ends up a tedious gear grind like most MMORPGS. You'll be constantly chasing gear while they continually move the carrot just out of reach.
This has been the worst XBOX game I have ever bought. We bought this for my 11 year old for his birthday. My son opens the game and ecstatic about it. Put it in the Xbox, and guess what? Downloads needed. Not one download, but 10. Yes I said 10 downloads and updates- 3 hours later- which is a conservative estimate- the game was FINALLY loaded and ready to play. But wait, it gets better. You MUST have an XBOX live account to play this game. No big deal, I have endured two days of my 11 year old begging and pleading with me to help him play this, why not log in and get him to blasting evil alien bad guys. Another hour later, finally it loads and he is playing. But wait it gets better- My 2 year old turns off the console while they are playing and then the XBOX wont ... MoreThis has been the worst XBOX game I have ever bought. Another hour later, finally it loads and he is playing. But wait it gets better- My 2 year old turns off the console while they are playing and then the XBOX wont read the disc..."disc tray error" it says. Several hours later digging into my XBOX and repairing the issue leads to "unrecognized disc" after reboot and hoping to play this game. I have tried all of the fixes- clean laser, clearing the queue, etc. etc. Nothing will work. Long story short- our XBOX works fine on every other game but this one. I have tried deleting all of the updates and starting over- nope, nothing will work.Overall impression: This game is ridiculously riddled with bugs, updates and problems- save your money for something else worthwhile.
A fantastic collection for anyone wanting to experience what. Destiny 1 was like way back on Xbox 360. As a close to 10 year veteran player of Destiny as a whole, this is the perfect addition to any game collector's library as this game set many standards and benchmarks we see in gaming today.
