This review is for the 'solid EDP' version of L'Ombre Dans L'Eau. I tried the EDT itself back in November, alongside the solid EDP and found I preferred it more in the solid form. L'ombre Dans is primarily a 'green' fragrance, evoking memories of freshly pruned leaves in the garden during Spring. The initial notes may seem almost 'too green', however they quickly settle down, allowing the floral, rose - especially, and blackcurrant notes to filter through, whilst the green takes a slight centre stage. It's a classy, timeless and distinctive fragrance, with absolutely no hints of Vanilla, in fact it's somewhat tart and bitter. But I love it for being unique and breaking away from the mainstream. This solid alcohol-free perfume comes in a beautiful decorated black case with a swan design on the front and presented in a velvet bag, which I thought was original. When you open the lid it almost seems like a compact foundation, only compact foundations don't smell this divine! It’s also perfect for travel due to its compact size, and with restrictions on liquids in airports - this is ideal. I was worried the scent wouldn’t last, but I have been pleasantly surprised - it certainly lasts...and even longer than the EDT itself! -- My Top 10 Beauty Must-Haves

I haven't ever really tried Diptyque fragrance before, though I was familiar with the candles. This fragrance is very fresh and herbaceous, like spring in a bottle. Has notes of rose, blackcurrant buds, petitgrain and blackcurrant leaves. I can definitely pick up the black currant and petitgrain. Interesting and more unusual, just how I like my fragrances. Petitgrain is from the leaves and twigs of the Seville bitter orange tree, so it has woodsy, fresh notes with a tiny hint of floral. Upon the first spray, the herbaceous notes really pop. On the dry down its a bit more woodsy. A must try!

I was first introduced to this fragrance after purchasing and subsequently falling in love with the Diptyque Baies Scented Candle, 190G, the counterpart candle from Diptyque. When I first spritzed this perfume, I was confused. How was this supposed to be like Baies, and why does it smell like tomatoes? This initial confusion is what makes this such a special scent - it’s really unlike anything I’ve smelled before. The sales associate described it as a “linear” smell, meaning that it has a very distinct opening and closing scent. When it’s first spritzed, it smells like tomato leaves and fresh greens. It’s very sharp. It unfolds and blossoms into the lush rose and black currant smell I love so much. I recently purchased Diptyque L'ombre Dans L'eau Eau De Toilette Spray, and it has quickly become one of my favorites. The scent is fresh and invigorating, with a beautiful blend of floral and green notes that make it perfect for everyday wear. It lasts well throughout the day without being overpowering. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the bottle design could be a bit more convenient for travel. Overall, an excellent fragrance that I would highly recommend!
I tried L'Ombre Dans L'Eau through the discovery set I have. Diptyque's fragrances are so well crafted and luxurious each one being so unique. L'Ombre Dans L'Eau is a beautiful fragrance that's grown more on me as I've worn it but still feels maybe a little mature for me yet. I think I've just preferred a couple of the others more and gone on to buy them full size. This definitely captures an essence and is deeply aromatic.
Diptyque L'ombre Dans L'eau Eau De Toilette is a fragrance masterpiece. Its blend of blackcurrant leaves and Bulgarian rose creates an enchanting aroma that is both fresh and sophisticated. The 3.4 oz bottle is perfect for daily use, and the scent lasts all day without being overpowering. A must-have for anyone who appreciates high-quality, unique fragrances
I'm not a perfume person. A lot of scents smell good but are often too strong, making me nauseous or irritating my nose, make my body temperature too warm, or have afternote smells which couldn't be determined in-store but only after a long day of wear. On a totally spontaneous shopping trip, I tested Diptyque's L'Ombre Dans L'Eau and absolutely loved the smell. It's very fresh and green at first spray, later evolving into a lightly floral, powdery, sweet (but not sickly) candy. It is consistent in strength throughout most of the day, and I can still smell it on me eight hours later. I've never been so satisfied with a scent, the beautiful swan illustration and the sturdy bottle were the icing on the cake. It's also valuable to note that the nozzle sprays out only a small spritz at a time, meaning I can choose how much perfume I want to wear, and not risk spraying too much. All in all, I have no regrets about this impulse purchase - the whole experience, from physically spraying the scent to still smelling the scent on me after a long day, has been amazing.
This scent is almost identical to the Diptyque Baies scent which I absolutely adore! I was gifted the Baies candle and struggled to find a perfume that matched that scent until someone recommended this one and said that it was the coordinating scent. This perfume smells so elegant but also fresh, it is one of my all time favourites. Definitely should purchase if you are looking for a scent for special occasions or if you prefer a more luxurious scent for day to day. I cannot recommend this stuff more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do yourself a favour and go buy this perfume! Thank you space nk! đź’žđź’žđź’žđź’žđź’žđź’žđź’žđź’žđź’žđź’žđź’žđź’žđź’žđź’žđź’žđź’žđź’žđź’žđź’žđź’žđź’žđź’žđź’žđź’žđź’žđź’žđź’žđź’žđź’žđź’žđź’žđź’ž
I am not a fan of sweet perfumes - in fact, they give me headaches. I love the Diptyque Baies candle and this is a similar scent and I’d say it is not too overpowering. One spritz does the job, and I have had quite a few comments along the lines of “you smell really good”. The bottle is gorgeous and feels nice to hold. I would definitely recommend!
For me this opens with a brief whiff of bergamot then we are straight into quite a realistic rendition of the blackcurrant bushes that grew in the side garden of my childhood. This to me is the smell of the living plant - the leaves more than anything else, with only a tinge of ripening fruit. Do I get any Bulgarian rose? No, just a general sweetly floral note, which reinforces the impression of the bushes in summer - the background scents of the rest of the garden flowers. It makes me remember the sensation of eating a warm ripe currant off the bush at the end of the summer. I find it an interesting experience, but not an everyday scent (it is not really my ambition to smell like a blackcurrant bush), but I enjoy it now and then.
