The Dunlop Roadsmart III Tires are the latest version of the Dunlop Roadsmart Tire Series. In development of the Roadsmart 3 Tire Dunlop performed an internal test putting the Roadsmart III Tire up against the Michelin Pilot Road 4 Tires over a distance of 3,000 miles. The results show the Dunlop leads the Michelin in all categories. Dunlop's exclusive MT Multi-Tread design binds a high-mileage compound to the center, and high adhesion compound to the lateral flanks for high cornering grip. New front and rear tire compounds enhance wear resistance, and include an innovative resin that increases wet grip. Rear tire profile designed to increase the footprint and improve mileage. Optimized construction for mileage and wet performance. New sidewall construction helps to provide superior shock absorption and precise handling. Innovative new cross groove tread pattern achieves better drainage in the wet for more grip.

Installed on a 2011 Honda ST 1300. Rear tire wears as normal (with minor cupping) front tire center is wearing normal but has a bad cupping problem in the areas where the rubber is softer. This occurred at about 2500 miles. Tires will have to be replaced but not with Dunlop. I was recently told that the ST1300 is too heavy for dual compound tires. I now know why.

If I had to describe this tire in 2 words it would be 'outstanding mileage'. I got 6000 very aggressive (acceleration to red line out of corners!) km out of this tire. In comparison, I only got 8000 km at a moderate spirited pace out of Michelin Road 5's. The steering is very light and neutral giving good handling that also doesn't degrade as badly toward the end of the tires' life compared to the Michelin's. Grip in the rain is only average (and downright scary in <7° C rain) compared to the Michelin's, but dry grip is very comparable making for an excellent alternative if you only ride when it's dry. All that said, I cannot give this tire a high score simply due to how insanely difficult it is to install and remove the tires! The tire's excessively stiff sidewall makes for a very unpleasant installation experience without a tire machine even when heated up to finger-burning temperatures, and it doesn't get better when it comes time to remove the tire as it literally doesn't want to un-bead from the rim! The Michelin's were a dream to install and remove in comparison.

Purchased front and rear Dunlop RS 3s for 2022 Kawasaki Z900 ABS. So far, cornering grip good. Have 4 K miles on tires: wear looks good. Got 11 K out of OEM RS 2's. For the price, I think these tires are really good. Hope to edit this review when I get to end of life on the RS 3's to report mileage. Haven't ridden in rain yet with these tires. Do long distance commuting on Z900 on SF Bay area freeways.

This is a 4 or 5 star tire depending on how you use it. Its designed to provide great grip once warm but it doesn't warm up as fast as some. I find a full 5 minutes of careful warmup is needed in cool to cold weather, which is only a problem for me because I have a 7-min commute and want to ride as much as possible in winter and spring. Flip side, and the main reason to buy is that it allows you to do some superslab in the summer without ruining the profile. I have >6k on a set and I am just starting to think about replacing the rear, the front is fine. So that's pretty much what I wanted. I am surprised to hear about cupping issues because I bought these over the R5 based on the more cupping resistant front tread pattern (I don't trust the horizontal sipes). I am surprised to hear about cupping issues because I bought these over the R5 based on the more cupping resistant front tread pattern (I don't trust the horizontal sipes). I have not had significant cupping on mine. So my advice is that these are a fantastic high mileage sport touring tire as long as you give them time to warm up in cool weather. I wish I had been able to use these on more long rides because they are awesome for that.
I have ridden these tires over 10,000 miles in roughly 5 weeks. They perform will in heat and severe rain. We road a lot of two lane roads including the Blue Ridge parkway and a number of horrible road surfaces including gravel, fresh chip seat, sand, pavement roughened for repaving. The Roadsmarts didn't slip or at any time make me feel uncomfortable. I ride a 2015 BMW R1200RT and it was loaded fairly heavily on this trip.As a comparison, I have been Michelin Pilot Road 4 GTs with this bike and I average about 8000 miles on a set of them. Great value and a solid tire.
Love these tires! I have a 2014 Ducati Multistrada and I have had Pirelli Scorpion trail (did not last very long but good tires) Pirelli Scorpion II better then the previous gen. but still short lived. Then I switched to Pirelli Angel GT. Great tire, great handling, better life (about 6000 MI) but i found them to be prone to puncture especially from midlife on. Last puncture accrued in Nova Scotia wile on a 2 week tour with my wife. I had no choice but a set of Dunlop Roadsmart III Well, this is my 3rd set and I must say they last me about 7500 miles, and what I really like about them is that even after 4000-5000 with a flat spot they still feel and handle like new. Highly recommended. And yes they are a bit cheaper too and so far no punctures.Giordano
I’ve been using Metzlers for years with my Triumph and FJR 1300 as they have been fantastic all around tires. Due to their unavailability and relative pricing with these, I decided to try front and backs with Dunlop Roadsmart 3’s On the Yamaha. After an initial 225 miles riding aggressively through summer time twisty canyons and mountains areas and different pavement types, I can say that these tires were just as good and provided really good grip, feel and confidence. Only gave 4 stars as I have no tread-wear or wet weather I can speak to.
I've put just over 10k of mostly commuting miles on a set of Roadsmart 3 tires on my BMW K1200GT, and I'm extremely happy with them. They're wearing great - I expect I've got 3k-4k more miles left in them. As a 100 mile a day commuter, good life is one of the key things I look for in a tire. Despite the life, though, they still grip well - I'm not the most aggressive guy out there in the canyons, but I'm not afraid to scrape the pegs now and then, and the RS3s feel planted and confident.About the only downside I can come up with are that they squirm a bit when they're cold, especially in cold weather. Most experienced riders know to be careful starting out with cold tires, but these move around a bit more in those first couple of miles than the Michelin Pilot Road ... MoreI've put just over 10k of mostly commuting miles on a set of Roadsmart 3 tires on my BMW K1200GT, and I'm extremely happy with them. Most experienced riders know to be careful starting out with cold tires, but these move around a bit more in those first couple of miles than the Michelin Pilot Road 4s and Road 5s that I've run in the past. Considering I'm getting perhaps 40% more life out of these Dunlops than I got from the Michelins, with no noticeable loss of grip or handling, I'll take the tradeoff.
Yes, I have an adventure motorcycle but let's face it, I spend the vast majority of my time riding up and down the highway from point A to point B. It is impossible to accurately project how many miles you will get before the back tire squares off and wears down enough to be changed due to road conditions, loading, how aggressively you ride, etc. I must say that I got about 13,000 miles out of my first 170/60ZR-17 rear tire before it showed the fibers in the belt. And the 120/70ZR-19 front tire outlasted three rear tires. I could have gone even longer than I did. The Roadsmart IIIs have been such good tires for my motorcycle. I do ride in the rain and on wet roads occasionally and have never been hesitant to lean in a curve when riding in wet conditions.Another ... MoreYes, I have an adventure motorcycle but let's face it, I spend the vast majority of my time riding up and down the highway from point A to point B. And my order was $65 less than the same pair of tires on that website that is named after that river in Brazil. You damn Skippy I will be ordering from DennisKirk again in the future!
I bought these for my ST1300 when I couldn't find a matching set of Michelins in the correct sizes. After 500 miles, I am taking them off. I have been running the Honda specified 42psi front and rear, with the same suspension settings that have worked well with previous tires, and I am not impressed. They are squirrelly in the corners, to the point where my wife asked what was wrong with the bike. I haven't ridden in the wet with them yet, but given the poor dry performance I don't want to even attempt it. I just dropped the extra cash to get the Michelin road 6s, and will consider the amount I paid for the Dunlops the price of education.
