The software shows everything in really crisp resolution. But prints look like they are 100dpi or less. I think the product features are exaggerated.. The software could show a more realistic preview. I would not recommend any advanced version based on the experience with the software. It does not accomplish much more than what the cheaper Dymo models do. The resolution is much lower than what I have expected for a product today. Maybe 20 years ago this resolution would have been awesome, but today it just looks like an old product facelifted.

Although this product had some very good reviews, they all focus on the "stand alone mode". This review is on the Dymo computer program to print labels. I downloaded from the Dymo Web page the program for the Dymo 280. After 45 minutes of failures to print I called Dymo. After half an hour on hold the Tech Rep said that "Dymo Connect" was the wrong download but admitted it was what the Dymo site said to download for the 280 printer. He told me to download a Software program from their site. It downloaded and opened without a problem. It was easy to use. I typed a label and pressed "Print", my little Dymo Label printer said "Printing", made a little noise, and NOTHING came out. Tried this several times. Only an hour and a half to get my first computer generated Dymo Label! Not happy dso fdar but it seems to be working well now.

I wish I had known about DYMO label manager 280 earlier! This is one good tool to stay organized in office as well as home. At first, I was skeptical that it would be tricky to use. But, it proved me wrong. It is a very convenient and easy to use label manager. I liked the big LCD display, which makes it easier to see the words while typing. The computer style keyboard helps in fast and easy typing. I was able to delete or add the text without any issues. I love that, I can choose from 6 font sizes and 7 text styles to design the label I want. Moreover, there are symbols and other things that can be added too. How cool is that!! I also liked the flexiblity of selecting the width of label that I need. After printing, the label is cut off with a press of side ... MoreI wish I had known about DYMO label manager 280 earlier! When my old Brother P-touch died I looked around for another portable label maker. This Dymo is much better and it has received top ratings. All the cheaper models either don’t come with an AC charger or they drain the batteries quickly. This one is perfect!
I am new to labeling and used this to organize an office filing system. This appears to have the best of the best features among labelers. It is priced nicely and will hold up long term to use for large or small labeling jobs. It made my task easier and was easy to operate and was not time consuming. It was helpful that it is rechargeable, handheld and portable so I could move around to different areas of the building and label files before moving them. This labeler is lightweight, very simple to operate and I like that it has a large display screen and good quality key pad. To get a label you select the font size, type your label line, hit the print button and the label comes out of the top and you push the button on the side to cut it off cleanly. Pretty easy and the labels are easy to read and look great. It has some memory to remember text you use frequently so you don’t have to retype over and over. The labeler comes with a USB cable and can be connected to a computer to make labels with custom fonts and graphics. Now the filing system is organized, neat, uniform and much easier to access and keep in order.
I havee used Dymo long ago when the only choice was the plastic embossed label. I saw how beautiful modern labels can be. SO, naturally I drifted towards Dymo. Brand is not important, as it appears all these labelers waste tape. I chose this model because it has several typefaces i really like. could not find anything I liked from Brother or Epson, The computer link I really cool! I can use any typeface on my computer! I and use any clip art or even create my own! looking at reviews and YouTube channels, what I see behind most complaints of all 3 brands, Is people just do not know how to correctly install the cartridges, use it in some other wrong manner, Or drop it, abuse it and expect it to still work. Most every consumer product is made JGE (just good enough), so it works, for awhile, hope you abuse it some how, put out some new models so we buy a new product in a couple of years.
Needed a label maker for around the house. Did a search on Home Essentials Direct and a million of them showed up. Went with the recommended choice and it does not disappoint. Let's be real...you just want to type a word or two and just push a button and have it print out so you can stick it to something right? You don't need 25 different options or fonts or font sizes or colors or special symbols or international keyboards etc. You just want to type, say, "Home Essentials Direct" and just print it out right? Yup. Me too. 1. Push power button for 2 seconds to turn on. 2. Type out your word(s). 3. Push the print button. 4. Press the cut button on the side. 5. Stick your label on whatever. I'm sure there are many options this impressive label maker has but I don't ... MoreNeeded a label maker for around the house. Did a search on Home Essentials Direct and a million of them showed up. My Dymo Label Maker LM160 disappeared so I bought the LabelManager 280--mostly because the 160 was not in stock and might take a month to arrive. I was attracted by the ability to run software on Windows to print labels as I can with my Brother address-label printer. It would not let me do anything until it was charged so I read the manual while waiting. The doc only tells how to install the battery and the tape cartridge and sends customers off to a website to install the software. The USB cable has a sticker that warns not to plug it in until the software was installed. I'm a retired Microsoft engineer with over 40 years in the PC industry. The software installation was chaotic at best. The USB cable has a sticker that warns not to plug it in until the software was installed. I'm a retired Microsoft engineer with over 40 years in the PC industry. The software installation was chaotic at best. The Support.Dymo.com site had me install Windows software that was supposed to be compatible with versions of Windows 8.0 and later. Unfortunately, it's not. I installed it several times only to find it did not start. I ultimately gave up and called Dymo support (in Poland). The tech told me that there was a bug in .NET (an internal component in Windows that every single application written in the last 10 years uses). He admitted they didn't have enough engineers to get it working. He did, however, point me to a Dymo site where I could download older versions of the software. By today's standards, it's pretty lame. He also said the interface to Microsoft Word was broken as well. He suggested that I type in Word and cut/paste into the old Dymo app. As far as a basic label maker goes, it's all right--probably 4 stars. If your thumbs don't wear out trying to navigate the menus, you can make pretty fancy labels--that's why I like to use Windows apps to format the labels. Since it's the only model available for now, it will have to do.
This little device has been a huge help in our home organizing. I’m not sure who likes it more, me or my fiancée. Both of us find it extremely easy to use. You just pop in the tape cartilage, turn on and you are ready to go! You can plug the device and pair with your computer or you can just use it by itself. I find that the device is very self explanatory, buttons are easy to read. On the side there is a button to cut the tape, you just press and it cuts. You can change the font size, the direction of the wording with a simple push of a button. It also comes with a charging cord. This device is very convenient and is a huge help with home organizing! Definitely recommend!
Most of the handheld label printers are built using ABC keyboards vs. the QWERTY keyboard, and that was a key factor in my decision to buy this scanner. Some people have claimed that using DYMO label makers vs. Brother label makers will save money as the DYMO does waste less label when printing. I need to see if this is Real!... After unwrapping and placing the rechargeable battery into the back of the labeler, I charged it with the included AC adapter for 3 hours per the instructions. I unplugged the charger and inserted the tape (what the device prints on) into the back of the labeler. I depressed the round, red power button on the lower lefthand side of the LCD screen, confirmed the tape size and then began typing on the Qwerty keyboard what I wanted on a label. ... MoreMost of the handheld label printers are built using ABC keyboards vs. the QWERTY keyboard, and that was a key factor in my decision to buy this scanner. I depressed the round, red power button on the lower lefthand side of the LCD screen, confirmed the tape size and then began typing on the Qwerty keyboard what I wanted on a label. I like how the keys are rubberized and yet soft to the touch. I heard a slight click when the key press was engaged and it was clearly visible on the gray and black LCD screen. Pressing the blue print button to the lower right of the screen printed the label and depressing the large silver button on the righthand side of the labeler cut it off the tape. Navigation on the labeler is very intuitive and easy to learn. The keyboard buttons depress with a click, but all others are flush and have more of a touchscreen feel. For me this was a great bargain, and perfect for light or occasional use without the need for lots of special characters. Connecting to your PC is an option and I love the rechargeable capabilities too. (NOTE: Do not use this labeler with the charger attached - per the instructions.)
