The eufyCam 3, 4K Camera System is Eufy’s most sophisticated and powerful security camera system yet, and is a major development step beyond my current camera system. The eufyCam 3 Security Camera System is a complete kit which includes two Model S330, IP-67 rated, “Weatherproof” 4K video cameras and a Model S389 HomeBase 3 hub. The kit includes all of the necessary camera mounting items, including a pair of screw-on mounting bases (camera attaches via a ¼”-20 threaded stud), with an adjustable gimbal mount with friction collar, as well as the necessary screws, plastic plugs and drilling templates to facilitate mounting on multiple surfaces including wood, drywall or masonry. A USB-A to USB-C cable for charging the cameras and a flat Ethernet cable for connecting the HomeBase 3 to a router are also included. The eufyCam 3 camera is an improved and upgraded evolution of the prior Eufy cameras. The most significant improvement is the 4K UHD camera resolution. The CMOS sensors have a 135° field of view and f 1.4 aperture for superior low-light video. One of the very appealing and compelling features which differentiate Eufy security camera systems from others, is that all videos are stored locally on the Eufy HomeBase 3 hub which is equipped with 16GB of built-in eMMC flash memory. No cloud storage account is required with a recurring fee, (optional cloud storage is available, if desired) and no arbitrary time limit for video storage is imposed. 16GB of storage will hold many videos for a long time, before overwriting older files. The storage has never been a problem for me with my 2K Eufy cameras. If there are video files that I want to preserve, I download them from the HomeBase. In the event that you really need or want to store videos for extremely extended periods of time, the HomeBase 3 has added a hard-disk slot which will accept any 2.5” hard disk drive (HDD) or solid-state drive (SSD) up to 16TB. Downloading videos from the HomeBase 3 is easily accomplished either by downloading files to a smartphone with the Eufy Security app, or for bulk file transfers, using the Archive function to transfer files to a USB drive. Setup of the EufyCam 3 Pro Security Camera System is generally straightforward. Initial setup and all device configuration and management functions require the Eufy Security smartphone app (Android and iOS versions). The printed Quick Start Guide instructs you to connect the HomeBase 3 to your Wi-Fi router with the supplied Ethernet cable. Thereafter the Eufy Security smartphone app provides step-by-step instructions, including audio guidance. Adding the HomeBase 3 and two 4K cameras to my existing Eufy “Home” only required about 5 minutes. If you are currently a EufyCam user, you are aware that the prior versions of the HomeBase, including the HomeBase 2s that I currently use, can be connected wirelessly to your Wi-Fi network. This feature, which I find to be essential, is not yet implemented on the HomeBase 3, which currently must remain connected to the router via ethernet. I called Eufy and was informed that it is expected with the release of the next firmware update, anticipated for the first quarter of 2023. The absence of Wi-Fi connectivity is problematic. Eufy cameras communicate with the Homebase on a private, 2.4 GHz network. With Wi-Fi implementation, the Homebase will communicate with the router via the network’s 2.4 GHz network. Full wireless functionality, which involves two wireless hops, facilitates greater flexibility in camera placement relative to the hub. In my installation, the HomeBase 2 hubs are located near the side of the house where the cameras are mounted, while the nearest Wi-Fi Mesh node is further away. I have good RF signal between the cameras and the HomeBase hub, and good RF signal between the HomeBase and the Mesh node. Being required to cable the HomeBase 3 hub with the Mesh node, places the cameras at the very fringe of RF signal from the HomeBase 3 hub, resulting in significantly increased camera battery drain, as well as occasional connectivity dropouts. I am somewhat surprised that the new 4K system entered the retail channel without a basic functionality that the legacy HomeBase hubs already have. Based on past experiences, I do however, have full faith in Eufy correcting this issue soon. Once implemented, an additional menu item will appear in the apps “Settings” > “General” menu for Wi-Fi Setup. The online FAQs erroneously state that Wi-Fi connectivity is available after the initial ethernet cabled setup is completed. The EufyCam 3 features and capabilities are quite extensive and robust. Prior models already incorporated face detection, but Eufy has now expanded the Artificial Intelligence (AI) software with their “Bionic Mind” AI learning, which should differentiate humans, animals/pets and vehicles, and supports creation of a Facial Recognition database using images supplied by the user or captured from the Eufy cameras. Attach the name to the face and receive notifications of who is captured on a camera with known persons being differentiated from “strangers”. So far, the software has not been successfully differentiating animals. Excellent features include user-defined active motion detection zones, privacy zones (motion exclusion) and detection sensitivity settings. Among the important features and options which can be configured are those of motion detection boundaries and sensitivity, video quality, power management, notification options and more. I particularly like the “Automation” option to activate recording from both security cameras, when motion has been detected on either one. Eufy claims a full one-year battery life per charge, based on the energy conserving “Optimal Battery Life” configuration. The cameras have a large 13,000 mAh Li-Ion battery. The S330 cameras also have a solar panel on top that is intended to maintain the battery at full charge under most circumstances. If options such as “Optimal Surveillance” mode, which allows for clip length up to 60 seconds, instead of 20 seconds is used, battery drain is increased. With the most aggressive settings, I have seen battery discharge of 50% in just a few days. There is also a “Customize Recording” selection for even greater flexibility. There is a latency interval while the camera awakens for both video and audio, and there is also a delay for the transmission of the smartphone alerts. Live streaming is supported as well as bidirectional audio via the cameras built-in speaker and microphone. However, it experiences a significant level of latency, and effective real-time communication is inhibited. Live camera feed also encounters a delay. Since adding the new EufyCam 3 system to my Eufy system “Home”, I have started experiencing some anomalies that did not previously occur with my older Eufy components. This includes spontaneous cessation of smartphone alerts, which I succeed in restoring by accessing the app settings in Android and turning Eufy alerts off and back on. Additionally, events which trigger alerts and recording are frequently starting the recording well after the person who triggered the camera has walked out of the wide-angle view of the camera. Those recordings are useless, and even more troubling, they are likely to lead you to erroneously believe that those alerts were among the many “false alerts” / “shadow alerts” that the cameras are frequently triggered by when aggressive and sensitive motion settings are selected. I have repeatedly tested by walking directly past both cameras, triggering motion alerts on my smartphone, yet the recordings only show a thumbnail from facial recognition displayed with a video clip that I am not visible in. These problems have been intermittent and unpredictable, and appear largely to occur with the most aggressive detection and recording settings. These anomalies did not occur with the EufyCam 2 system which preceded this new installation. The the cameras transmit data to the HomeBase3 via a private 2.4 GHz connection. 5 GHz Wi-Fi is not supported. Eufy represents utilizing 256 bit AES encryption both in video transmission and storage on the HomeBase 3. However, it is not clear where the videos which are being streamed or downloaded are being decrypted. The Eufycam 3 system has crisp, clear high-resolution 4K video. This allows enlargement / zooming-in with sharp detail. Infrared video captured during hours of darkness is also sharp and clear, and the IR emitters appear to have good range for illuminating a decent area. The cameras also have white LED “spotlights”, the use of which is selectable in the app. These LEDs allow full-color night videos, as long as there is sufficient illumination from the LEDs and any other illumination present in the area. I found the color night recordings to be good and clear. The camera specifications and features are impressive, and integration with the HomeBase 3 and configuration and utilization with the Eufy smartphone app are all superior. I really like the EufyCam 3 Security Camera System, despite the handful of early deployment issues and intermittent anomalies that I have been experiencing. It supports integration with other Eufy devices as well as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant but not with Apple Homekit.

One of the biggest reasons for this, and one of the reasons these cameras impress me so much, is their quality without the need for additional cloud storage or fee for features. You don’t need to pay a monthly security fee, or storage fee, or anything other than the upfront cost of the cameras and the home base to go with them. Once you have all of the components, they work together completely on their own. However, this doesn’t mean they are lacking in software support or quality, as the picture quality is the best I have seen from a wireless camera system, and the software experience has been great! Starting with the set-up, getting the home base installed is super easy, with just a power cord and ethernet to the router all that is needed. From there you download the Eufy app and it walks you through the set-up process, which takes a few minutes at most after you set-up your account. You get 15.6GB of storage out of the box, with the ability to add a hard drive to the home base for up to an additional 16TB of storage. The cameras themselves are relatively compact, and have long solar panels on the top for charging. They connect to frames which you can mount almost anywhere, given they are wireless, and have a simple ball joint mechanism for rotation and tilting which makes them very flexible with positioning. The only thing you will need to watch out for is ensuring the cameras can have plenty of direct sunlight, so they can stay charged without needing to be taken down and charged manually (which you can do if you’d like/need to). This does require some pre-planning to ensure the cameras are placed where you’d like, but also not under an overhang or roof where they will be shaded. From a picture quality standpoint, they look great. I can get a live view from the cameras anytime from the app, and I can easily zoom-in and adjust as necessary for getting additional detail. The field of view is nice and wide, so one camera can give you plenty of great coverage, and the night vision looks great, with nearly as much detail as daylight. The cameras also have a light which can pickup color in low light conditions at night, although this was turned off by default and probably for good reason, as while you do get good night color, I found the detail to be worst than the regular night vision, with a bit more ghosting and image break-up on moving objects. Personally, I would leave the regular night vision on and leave it at that. I haven’t owned the cameras long enough yet to test their full battery life, but given where I have placed mine, I haven’t seen the battery drop below 100% yet after a few weeks of ownership. I don’t know how they will hold-up from a battery life standpoint in winter, but so far the solar charging has been working great, and if I do need to take them down to charge them, it is a very easy disassembly process. They can also be charged manually from USB-C at the home base, which is also a nice touch. Additionally, the cameras also feature two-way audio, so you can both get audio from them, as well as speak through them for communicating with people if you would like. From a software standpoint, the experience has also been great. The Eufy app is easy to use, and I have had zero issues with connectivity or dropouts yet. Additionally, the BionicMind can detect animals, people, and vehicles, and will automatically start recording the events when it sees them. It can also pick out familiar faces, which you can also add manually, so that if it sees you, your family, or other frequent visitors, it won’t alert you and record the event immediately. If you have other Eufy home security products, you can also easily set modes or automations to tie into your schedule, which integrates great with smart home systems. Really, all-in-all the software experience has been great so far, with zero usability or quality complaints from me. As I started in this review, what really impresses me most is that all of this great quality comes with no additional fees. In an age where more “smart” products are being sold with near mandatory subscription fees, without which the features of your product are severely hindered, it is refreshing to get a “smart” product which just works out of the box, has great quality, and doesn’t try to upsell you. Yes, you can get more involved with Eufy’s other security offerings if you’d like, but if you just want security cameras like these, that offer all of the features you would need, with super easy set-up, then you don’t need to pay more for storage or expanded features. You have the options, and that is what is great as a consumer. All-in-all, I highly recommend these cameras if they are in your budget and you want some of the best wireless cameras money can buy, without the additional hassle.

It found the base station, allowed me to name it, and added it to my account. Be aware that if you share access to your cameras, you will need to share access to the base station with others after you add it. Syncing up the cameras was just as easy. They connect to the base station, but you add them through the app. You just need to be close enough for the base station to see the short range signal requesting to pair from the camera and then you can move your camera into position. Mounting the cameras was easy as the included screws easily bit into the wood I was using. They also include those plastic hole inserts, but I feel those are more needed if you plan on drilling into masonry. Now, part of me wishes the cameras used my WiFi like my floodlight does, but being as the setup was 100 times easier with the base station, I can overlook it. Speaking of, the base station supports many other Eufy products to add AI intelligence to them and is actively working to add move of the product line. It also will allow them to use the storage built into the base station which I found surprisingly easy to upgrade. I had a spare SSD lying around, so I opened the top with the single screw, pulled out the tray, installed and secured the SSD to the tray with the included screws, and installed it back into the base station. On the app, it showed the drive and asked if I wished to format it. I did and now I have more space. The device also supports archiving video to a USB device, so if you have a large external drive, you can hook it up to this for even more space. I hope at some point they add the ability to archive to a NAS, but again, I'll take the current solution as being very usable. It's been a few days now and I'm pleasantly surprised that the battery life on the camera has not gone down. I installed it under a gutter for some protection against the snow, with the solar panel pointed to where the sun comes up. It's not getting a ton of light, but it's definitely enough to keep the battery topped off and I doubt I'll have to go up there to adjust it again. That is good because I turned on theft protection. With theft protection turned on, the device and base station will sound an alarm if the camera is moved. This will alert you if someone tries to move the camera so they can sneak around it or if someone is straight up trying to steal it. I don't know why they would want to though as the camera does not appear to work without the base station. All in all, I love having complete control over my video while still being able to easily access my cameras remotely. I hope Eufy keeps adding to their ecosystem and I really hope they add door and window sensors in the future. It would be nice to go all in with one alarm system that I already enjoy using.

I've been a big fan of Eufy products for many years now and this offering continues the trend of "it just works". Now, I already had the Eufy android app installed, which is basically installing the app and creating an account, but that's most of the work required to setup this package. I took the base station and plugged it into my network with the supplied Ethernet cable and clicked the add device button while on WiFi. It found the base station, allowed me to name it, and added it to my account. Be aware that if you share access to your cameras, you will need to share access to the base station with others after you add it. Syncing up the cameras was just as easy.
Eufy is no stranger to the security system. This is their newest surveillance system. The unit comes with two solar powered wireless 4K cameras, one latest and updated HomeBase 3 hub, power adapter, mounting base with screws, USB charging cable, and an ethernet cable. The entire system is well built with sleek design and is packaged nicely. Like always, this Eufy system comes with no monthly fees associated. The best part is that all existing Eufy devices like video doorbells, smart cameras, smart locks, etc. are all compatible with HomeBase 3. The 4K cameras are battery operated and are charged by integrated solar panel. The camera supports color night vision with clear image clarity. It has a built-in spotlight and siren that can be controlled using the Eufy app. A fully charged battery on the camera can last up to a year, but the solar panel does help with the charging. One thing to be aware of, since this is a battery powered camera, it doesn't do continuous recording. You can customize the clip recording length with set intervals that will give you back-to-back recordings. The HomeBase connects to the cameras wirelessly although the HomeBase itself is connected to the network via the ethernet cable. Eufy says there is a future updated planned that will enable the Wi-Fi option. The system uses self-learning AI for facial recognition, human and pet detection, vehicle detection, etc. The HomeBase 3 comes with 16GB of internal storage but there is a hard disk slot to expand the storage up to 16TB using a 2.5" SATA interface drive. It is compatible with Google Assistant and Alexa. Eufy says they are still working on Apple HomeKit support. Overall, this is a nicely upgraded surveillance security system with impressive features from Eufy. If you are invested in Eufy ecosystem, this is a no brainer upgrade and enables you to manage all your connected devices from one place.
Anker’s new EUFY security camera system solves just about everything problematic about installing a security camera system. Cameras with 4K resolution have been available in wired and wireless varieties for a while, but with resolution comes the need for great power. Wired cameras can deliver power with chunkier wiring but wireless cameras, especially the smaller ones, require frequent charging. Charging wireless cameras is an inconvenience at best for internal cameras and is an unreasonable requirement for outdoor cameras. I have an older Arlo system that requires attention almost monthly. EUFY has attacked the wireless problem using a larger battery in each camera. The USB-C charged batteries are said to be capable of lasting a full year on a single charge. But EUFY has added solar charging panels on the top sides of each camera – and, in theory, with about 2 hours of real sunlight exposure, these cameras are supposed to be able to maintain a full charge indefinitely. Of course, indoor mountings would require updated annual (?) charging. My two cameras have been mounted in full and in restricted sun for over a week now and my cameras have never deviated from full charge (yes, that’s a short time frame...but it’s encouraging). Everything about the setup here is very intuitive. A smartphone app guides you through recognition of the base unit, updating the firmware, and recognition of the cameras. The cameras mount using an easily configurable mount that requires two attaching screws. My full hardware mounting and software installation took less than one hour. The base unit will only retain 16GB of stored images and video. But the unit includes a mounting rack that allows you to install a 2.5” SATA hard drive for basically unlimited storage. The 16GB of storage is surely sufficient for a setup with very little expected activity – but I was able to add 1TB of storage for just over $40. See photos. The 4K camera and powerful rechargeable battery make for a chunky and somewhat heavy camera – but the quality imaging and extended/unlimited (solar charged) battery life are worth any objections you might have to the way these cameras present themselves. See photo. The cameras capture stunning detail in their images. Daylight images are bright and clear – nighttime images, reduced to B&W for greater image clarity, are surprisingly crisp. When motion detection is in place, the cameras produce IR light to further amplify the image capture. See photo of nighttime capture w/o IR illumination. The AI associated with the operation of these devices seems to be very smart (e.g., detection of humans vs. leaves falling or cars passing in the periphery of the capture). The alarm siren, when enabled, can vary in strength from annoying to ear-piercing – it can be a real deterrent. The cameras offer two-way audio so that you can communicate with them via the EUFY app. But probably the most significant reason to recommend this system is that it gives you complete control over the capture and saving of images and video without needing a subscription. You can monitor your cameras remotely and review any captures that might have taken place. Additional protection, including offsite storage, is available if you require that subscription option. And I need to give them a real shout-out for their app. Every detail about this monitoring system is HIGHLY configurable – but the defaults in the app are sensible and changes are incredibly intuitive. After I turned off the alarm system, I was very pleased with the system's defaults. I will probably wander deeper into the configurations as I get to know the system better. My system includes two cameras, but the base unit will accommodate up to 16 cameras. Enthusiastically recommended!!!
I’ll start off by saying I’m a big fan of Eufy’s security products. This product is an incredible improvement on an already solid surveillance system. I’ve owned their Floodlight, doorbell camera, and previous wireless cameras over the past few years and I’ve never had a reasonable complaint about their products. Some of the major things I’m really excited about with this product is the solar charging, additional hard drive option, and of course the 4k recordings. Their older camera’s would work for months without needing a charge, and when it did, it was easy to remove the camera, plug it in for half a day or so, and it would be good for a couple more months, depending on your settings of course. I was tempted to get the solar panel chargers for them, but decided ... MoreI’ll start off by saying I’m a big fan of Eufy’s security products. This product is an incredible improvement on an already solid surveillance system. I was tempted to get the solar panel chargers for them, but decided it wasn’t really worth it considering how rare I had to charge them. Well now I never have to do it or fumble with any extra devices and mounting, its all built into the camera…awesome! I mounted one camera outdoors and have one currently indoors to compare how well the charging is. Of course its fall time and it’s been a little more gloomy and rainy outdoors then it normally is here, but after a week and a half of doing my initial charge on the cameras and testing, my indoor camera is at 88% (only exposed to some house light) and the outdoor camera is at 95%. So the solar panels def make a difference. When its sunny, it even shows the camera as charging. These numbers are based off the “Optimal Battery Life” profile. Another great thing about Eufy is the storage that is included with their cameras, no need to buy or lease storage from them, they give you SD cards and you can upgrade them to larger capacity if you like. Well 4k takes up much more storage than standard HD video. I REALLY like the option to just pop in 2.5” hard drive into the Homebase. I have yet to do that, but am waiting for black Friday prices for hard drives to get one. I am surprised that it doesn’t accept an NVMe M2 drive as they are much smaller and faster, but either way it’s a great option to have. It goes without saying, but picture quality is great. The colors and details are great (see attached image), so I’m keeping my 4k cameras in the front of the house and my older wireless cameras in the back of the house. These cameras also include an LED light (Spotlight), microphone, speaker, and an alarm that triggers sound and lights. You can choose to have the traditional night vision or use the spotlight to light up an area, but that would drain the battery much quicker. One of the best things about this Homebase is the AI that’s built-in. Now Eufy has their Homebase powered with technology that can detect human faces and you can assign them names. You can manually add faces through the app and it will let you know who it spots in the cameras. With the hardware there, the product will only get better with software updates. Currently, unique cars and pet detection is in works as well. I feel like a lot of it is still in progress and but I’m impressed with what they have done so far. I look forward to being able to setup alerts based on certain recognized and unrecognized faces. Now on the flip side, I can’t say there is much about it that I don’t like. The cameras aren’t that heavy which is a bit of a surprise with all the technology its packing including batteries, but the problem with this is the mounting. I mounted my outdoor camera on the soffit, which is a pretty standard height, but mounting the camera doesn’t give me a great angle. I was limited to how high I could raise the camera so it wasn’t pointing at the ground. I was able to get it to the highest position which I was happy with, and I tightened very tight by hand to lock it in place, but the weight of the camera and gravity caused the camera to droop down and its been angled lower towards the ground. I will need to place this on a higher part of the house to hopefully keep the mount decent. You can see in the pictures I added where it started and where it ended up. Picture attached of the highest angle the camera can reach. Also, the option where you can talk to the camera speaker through your phone is a bit sketchy. I don’t plan on using that option that much, but sometimes it works good and others its like it missed some words or doesn’t pick up the voice from your phone that great. Like it’ll miss the first word or so you say but then start working. The alarm function I’m trying to figure out as well, I can turn it on but turning if off doesn’t seem to be an option, it seems like it times out after 30 seconds to 1 minute. Hoping some software updates can fix all this up. Overall, I really think Eufy is one of the best camera systems that doesn’t require a subscription. It provides alerts and convenience all within an app and you can manage everything from your phone. Others are “free” but they push premium packages on you or don’t let you record to the cloud. I’ve only had this product a couple of weeks, but Eufy has kept my home monitored and safe for years. I haven’t quite got my house setup for Google or Alexa, but I do look forward to being able to use the Eufy cameras with voice assistants. Definitely recommend this product and Eufy in general to my friends and family.

Both the cameras and base can emit an audible siren if an alarm is triggered. I really like that the user expandable storage can be internal. == Setup == The first thing I did was add a 1TB 2.5” SATA hard drive that I had salvaged from a busted laptop so I could store more video. After two weeks, the drive is only a tenth full so it would seem 1TB is going to be plenty for two cameras. Then I plugged the Homebase into my router using an ethernet cable and powered it on. The cameras need to charge for 8 hours prior to first use. Only one charging cable is included so use another to do both simultaneously. You can charge one from the base itself. You will need the eufy app from the Google or Apple app store to sync the cameras to the base. To set up the cameras you scan a QR code on the bottom of the Homebase, however the QR code is tiny and a slightly darker gray than the gray plastic it is printed on. I had trouble getting it to scan without moving the base near a window for better lighting. Once the cameras are connected you can mount them in their permanent location. This is where I learned that the Homebase and cameras are not able to connect to a Wi-Fi network. I have issues where one camera has trouble recording or playing live video unless I put the base station literally in the window at the front of the house. If the base at least supported a Wi-Fi connection I could place it in a more central location where both cameras would be in range, instead of being limited by the network wire. Ideally, the cameras themselves would support connecting to your existing Wi-Fi network to take advantage of the wireless infrastructure already in place and then it wouldn't matter where the base was located. == Performance == The app works well. You are able play live video or view recorded events from either camera. The video quality is good, better than most security cameras I have used. All the recording happens locally on the base meaning you do not have to pay any subscription fees, although they do offer cloud recording if you need it. The night recordings have been as impressive as in the daytime, with the built-in spotlight helping to illuminate the scene with some color versus relying solely on black and white night vision. The BionicMind AI detection is a feature that helps identify people from pets and vehicles. For people, it will list a person’s name if you have previously identified that face in the app. It will also find faces, pets, and vehicles and take a zoomed in snapshot for you for easier recognition. You can set up activity zones that will help filter out unwanted recordings (like cars going down the street) or a particularly cool feature is the ability to block out certain areas of the video, for example if you want to respect your neighbor’s privacy. I didn't end up using the included mounts since I was able to fit these onto two mounts that I used for a previous system. While they are partially covered by eaves on my roof this so far has not affected the solar charging capability to the point of being an issue. They have been going strong for two weeks now and I really like the solar dashboard feature that lets you monitor the solar efficiency. One downside I have noticed is the fan can be noisy in the base unit. I’m not sure if it’s because the older hard drive that I am using gets particularly hot or if this is normal but I will hear it spin up from time to time. Finally, I was disappointed to learn that this model does not support Apple HomeKit, only Alexa and Google Home. I use HomeKit exclusively in my home so unfortunately I will not be able to see these cameras alongside my other security cameras (that are about 5 years old and from a competitor.) It was even more frustrating to learn after a bit of research that eufyCam 2 supports HomeKit, but this newer version does not. == Pros == 4K Resolution No Subscription Required (optional cloud subscription) AI Object Identification Solar Powered Hard Drive is Concealed in Base Spotlight Anti-theft Alarm Two-way Audio == Cons == Base fan can be noisy No Wi-fi connectivity No HomeKit Support == Overall == The well-designed app plus quality of the video recording and no subscription fees makes this a compelling security camera kit. However, the lack of Wi-Fi connectivity and Apple HomeKit support could be a deal-breaker for some.
When it comes to security cameras there are so many options and all of them have different advantages and disadvantages. One nice thing about wires NVR systems is that you do not have to worry about charging the cameras or paying for a subscription. However, wireless cameras are typically easier to set up and can be placed just about anywhere, but many of them require a subscription for online storage and have to be charged. I believe these Eufy cameras were made to reduce some of those concerns and bridge the gap between the two. Setting up these cameras is a fairly simple process. I believe these Eufy cameras were made to reduce some of those concerns and bridge the gap between the two. Setting up these cameras is a fairly simple process. The base station comes with 16GBs of storage which is enough for multiple days’ worth of storage based on settings and activity. However, you can drop in a 2in hard drive and easily expand this storage. I personally put a 2TB hard drive and this allows me to have months’ worth of video coverage stored without having to overwrite that. Eufy also gives you the option to pay for cloud-based storage which also includes other benefits such as 24/7 advanced monitoring. The cameras come with all the hardware needed for mounding and can easily be screwed into your house within minutes. I have my base station on one side of my house and a camera on the complete other side outdoors and there are no connection issues at all. The range is superior. Since this is a wireless system, they cameras are battery powered. One of my favorite features is that they have mini solar panels on the top of each camera to help them charge up a few percent per day. Eufy claims they will last 365 days. Although I have only been testing them for about a week, I am down to 93% battery. The way my house sits they are not able to get the most sunlight. However, I still think even if they can last 3-6 months that is a decent length of time. If you live somewhere that gets a lot of sunlight or are able to put it in a better spot more directly in the sunlight then I have no doubt you would never need to charge these cameras. These cameras have 4K video quality capability and many smart features. One of my favorite features is that you are able to add a picture of someone and then it will detect when it sees that person. I have added myself and other members of my family and overall, it is good at recognizing when it sees that person. It also does a great at recognizing vehicles, animals, and humans and you are able to filter out notifications from each category if you would like. I only found two downsides to these cameras and it could be user error but no matter what I tried I was not able to fix the issue. The first is that when it is dark out, the cameras have a harder time picking up motion. During the day I did not have any issues but if I walked in front of the cameras during the night it was hit or miss on whether or not it picked me up even when I turned the motion detection to max sensitivity. The other issue is that I was hoping to utilize the spotlight feature but the only setting I was able to find had it flashing when it detected motion. I was looking for it to have a solid spotlight when it detected motion during the night. Again, it could be user error and I am continuing to try and play with the settings. If you are in the market for cameras and are looking for a highly capable system then I would definitely take a look at the Eufy Cam. These cameras are easy to set up, easy to use and are versatile and can be used without limitations. One of my favorite features is that if you do not want to pay for a monthly service, then you can still monitor them through the app and all of the footage is stored on the home base.
There are a number of products on the market for those looking for wireless, security cameras. Later, we noticed that we were no longer getting notifications of video events and no recordings were showing up in the app. After two phone calls with Eufy support we were advised that we’d have to unscrew the camera from the mounts, reset them and start the installation process again. Yes, this was a hassle, but that does seem to have corrected the issue. It was a nice option that Eufy support has a call back feature so one doesn’t have to wait on hold for a support rep. It is interesting that Eufy has designed these cameras with the solar panels built-in on top of the camera. The quality of the panels appears to be quite good so I hope they do a good job withstanding the elements during our hot Summers. The weight of the cameras are more than other styles that do not have built in solar charging, but the camera mounts do a good job of holding them in place. Aesthetically, I like the look of these better than cameras that offer a separate solar panel that must be mounted and wired to the camera. Eufy offers another version in this camera 3 series that is not powered by solar and would be a good option for shaded areas such as under patios or large trees. Currently, we will also have to continue using the older homebase that came with our Eufy dual cam doorbell. Eufy support told me that the new Eufy homebase 3 won’t support this older model doorbell until approximately Spring of 2023. I do appreciate the fact that we can incorporate these prior generation models rather than having to upgrade something we already have. I’d say that Eufy has some great product features in the Eufy 3 line with 4K video, facial recognition, local storage, an intuitive and easy to use app, and nice build quality. It will be such a bonus to not pay a monthly cloud storage fee and still receive great video quality with expandable, local storage options. If the EufyCam 3 does as well as our dual cam doorbell we should be very happy for some time.
Nicely packaged and easy to unpackage. I have 2 of the Anker eufyCam 2C Pro cameras set up with the Anker eufy HomeBase 2 and they worked great, so I was looking forward to setting up the S330 eufyCam 3 system. I disconnected my HomeBase 2 and set up the HomeBase 3, set up was quick and easy. Setting up the S380 HomeBase and connecting the S330 cameras was quick and easy and the S380 HomeBase picked up my eufy Wi-Fi door lock and my eufy Wi-Fi bridge with door lock and doorbell automatically. It was just as easy to connect my eufyCam 2C cameras to the HomeBase 3 as it was to connect the S330 cameras. I now have features with my eufyCam 2C cameras that I did not have prior. Installing the S330 cameras is quick and easy once you decide on what area you want them ... MoreNicely packaged and easy to unpackage. Installing the S330 cameras is quick and easy once you decide on what area you want them monitoring. Like all outdoor cameras, it takes a little trial and error to position your cameras to get the best video and solar power to the cameras. Took me approximately 1 hour to set the new system up however, I also moved two existing cameras during this time. 16GB EMMC storage is plenty for me, I am retired and generally home most days. SSD storage would be nice however much more expensive. I don’t hold videos any more than a day and if I choose to keep a video, I download it to my phone. If you choose to you can add a HDD/SSD storage expansion, up to 16TB. The 4K video is exceptional, very sharp which allows for enlargement of the something specific you want a closer look at on a video. I have found a slight lag in notification with the eufy 3 system compared to the eufy 2 system. The Smart AI Human recognition (Self learning algorithm), Vehicle detection, and Pet detection work flawlessly, so far. The recognition of persons, vehicles, and animals is amazing. Again, an advantage I received was the HomeBase 3 extending these types of features to my existing eufy 2C cameras. Some of the facial captures tend to be a little blurred as people are generally moving however, you can add pictures by taking a picture through the eufy app or download a picture from your photos file. Try to take your pictures from a slight side angle, I found this best. The S330 solar powered cameras are battery-powered, continual video is not what they are designed for, they are designed to capture motion, take a short video of what activated the camera, and send you a notification. If you are looking for 24/7 monitoring, you will need to look at eufy alternatives. Overall, the S330 eufyCam (eufyCam 3), 4K 2-cam with (S380 HomeBase / HomeBase 3) is a great upgrade and well worth the investment. You get a system that most of your current eufy equipment will sync with and upgrade your existing cameras features.
