The eufyCam 3, 4K Camera System is Eufy’s most sophisticated and powerful security camera system yet, and is a major development step beyond my current camera system. The eufyCam 3 Security Camera System is a complete kit which includes two Model S330, IP-67 rated, “Weatherproof” 4K video cameras and a Model S389 HomeBase 3 hub. The kit includes all of the necessary camera mounting items, including a pair of screw-on mounting bases (camera attaches via a ¼”-20 threaded stud), with an adjustable gimbal mount with friction collar, as well as the necessary screws, plastic plugs and drilling templates to facilitate mounting on multiple surfaces including wood, drywall or masonry. A USB-A to USB-C cable for charging the cameras and a flat Ethernet cable for connecting the HomeBase 3 to a router are also included. The eufyCam 3 camera is an improved and upgraded evolution of the prior Eufy cameras. The most significant improvement is the 4K UHD camera resolution. The CMOS sensors have a 135° field of view and f 1.4 aperture for superior low-light video. One of the very appealing and compelling features which differentiate Eufy security camera systems from others, is that all videos are stored locally on the Eufy HomeBase 3 hub which is equipped with 16GB of built-in eMMC flash memory. No cloud storage account is required with a recurring fee, (optional cloud storage is available, if desired) and no arbitrary time limit for video storage is imposed. 16GB of storage will hold many videos for a long time, before overwriting older files. The storage has never been a problem for me with my 2K Eufy cameras. If there are video files that I want to preserve, I download them from the HomeBase. In the event that you really need or want to store videos for extremely extended periods of time, the HomeBase 3 has added a hard-disk slot which will accept any 2.5” hard disk drive (HDD) or solid-state drive (SSD) up to 16TB. Downloading videos from the HomeBase 3 is easily accomplished either by downloading files to a smartphone with the Eufy Security app, or for bulk file transfers, using the Archive function to transfer files to a USB drive. Setup of the EufyCam 3 Pro Security Camera System is generally straightforward. Initial setup and all device configuration and management functions require the Eufy Security smartphone app (Android and iOS versions). The printed Quick Start Guide instructs you to connect the HomeBase 3 to your Wi-Fi router with the supplied Ethernet cable. Thereafter the Eufy Security smartphone app provides step-by-step instructions, including audio guidance. Adding the HomeBase 3 and two 4K cameras to my existing Eufy “Home” only required about 5 minutes. If you are currently a EufyCam user, you are aware that the prior versions of the HomeBase, including the HomeBase 2s that I currently use, can be connected wirelessly to your Wi-Fi network. This feature, which I find to be essential, is not yet implemented on the HomeBase 3, which currently must remain connected to the router via ethernet. I called Eufy and was informed that it is expected with the release of the next firmware update, anticipated for the first quarter of 2023. The absence of Wi-Fi connectivity is problematic. Eufy cameras communicate with the Homebase on a private, 2.4 GHz network. With Wi-Fi implementation, the Homebase will communicate with the router via the network’s 2.4 GHz network. Full wireless functionality, which involves two wireless hops, facilitates greater flexibility in camera placement relative to the hub. In my installation, the HomeBase 2 hubs are located near the side of the house where the cameras are mounted, while the nearest Wi-Fi Mesh node is further away. I have good RF signal between the cameras and the HomeBase hub, and good RF signal between the HomeBase and the Mesh node. Being required to cable the HomeBase 3 hub with the Mesh node, places the cameras at the very fringe of RF signal from the HomeBase 3 hub, resulting in significantly increased camera battery drain, as well as occasional connectivity dropouts. I am somewhat surprised that the new 4K system entered the retail channel without a basic functionality that the legacy HomeBase hubs already have. Based on past experiences, I do however, have full faith in Eufy correcting this issue soon. Once implemented, an additional menu item will appear in the apps “Settings” > “General” menu for Wi-Fi Setup. The online FAQs erroneously state that Wi-Fi connectivity is available after the initial ethernet cabled setup is completed. The EufyCam 3 features and capabilities are quite extensive and robust. Prior models already incorporated face detection, but Eufy has now expanded the Artificial Intelligence (AI) software with their “Bionic Mind” AI learning, which should differentiate humans, animals/pets and vehicles, and supports creation of a Facial Recognition database using images supplied by the user or captured from the Eufy cameras. Attach the name to the face and receive notifications of who is captured on a camera with known persons being differentiated from “strangers”. So far, the software has not been successfully differentiating animals. Excellent features include user-defined active motion detection zones, privacy zones (motion exclusion) and detection sensitivity settings. Among the important features and options which can be configured are those of motion detection boundaries and sensitivity, video quality, power management, notification options and more. I particularly like the “Automation” option to activate recording from both security cameras, when motion has been detected on either one. Eufy claims a full one-year battery life per charge, based on the energy conserving “Optimal Battery Life” configuration. The cameras have a large 13,000 mAh Li-Ion battery. The S330 cameras also have a solar panel on top that is intended to maintain the battery at full charge under most circumstances. If options such as “Optimal Surveillance” mode, which allows for clip length up to 60 seconds, instead of 20 seconds is used, battery drain is increased. With the most aggressive settings, I have seen battery discharge of 50% in just a few days. There is also a “Customize Recording” selection for even greater flexibility. There is a latency interval while the camera awakens for both video and audio, and there is also a delay for the transmission of the smartphone alerts. Live streaming is supported as well as bidirectional audio via the cameras built-in speaker and microphone. However, it experiences a significant level of latency, and effective real-time communication is inhibited. Live camera feed also encounters a delay. Since adding the new EufyCam 3 system to my Eufy system “Home”, I have started experiencing some anomalies that did not previously occur with my older Eufy components. This includes spontaneous cessation of smartphone alerts, which I succeed in restoring by accessing the app settings in Android and turning Eufy alerts off and back on. Additionally, events which trigger alerts and recording are frequently starting the recording well after the person who triggered the camera has walked out of the wide-angle view of the camera. Those recordings are useless, and even more troubling, they are likely to lead you to erroneously believe that those alerts were among the many “false alerts” / “shadow alerts” that the cameras are frequently triggered by when aggressive and sensitive motion settings are selected. I have repeatedly tested by walking directly past both cameras, triggering motion alerts on my smartphone, yet the recordings only show a thumbnail from facial recognition displayed with a video clip that I am not visible in. These problems have been intermittent and unpredictable, and appear largely to occur with the most aggressive detection and recording settings. These anomalies did not occur with the EufyCam 2 system which preceded this new installation. The the cameras transmit data to the HomeBase3 via a private 2.4 GHz connection. 5 GHz Wi-Fi is not supported. Eufy represents utilizing 256 bit AES encryption both in video transmission and storage on the HomeBase 3. However, it is not clear where the videos which are being streamed or downloaded are being decrypted. The Eufycam 3 system has crisp, clear high-resolution 4K video. This allows enlargement / zooming-in with sharp detail. Infrared video captured during hours of darkness is also sharp and clear, and the IR emitters appear to have good range for illuminating a decent area. The cameras also have white LED “spotlights”, the use of which is selectable in the app. These LEDs allow full-color night videos, as long as there is sufficient illumination from the LEDs and any other illumination present in the area. I found the color night recordings to be good and clear. The camera specifications and features are impressive, and integration with the HomeBase 3 and configuration and utilization with the Eufy smartphone app are all superior. I really like the EufyCam 3 Security Camera System, despite the handful of early deployment issues and intermittent anomalies that I have been experiencing. It supports integration with other Eufy devices as well as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant but not with Apple Homekit.

Wow, I am so impressed with these cameras, I am planning on exclusively using these or similar cameras movie forward. Having access to solar power for cameras that are installed in remote areas is just amazing. I have several points of entry on to my land, and while a Wi-Fi signal reaches all of those areas, I have not run power everywhere. With these solar cameras, I am able to get coverage for 100% of the points of entry, without any extra expense. Inconvenience of solar power, combined with the excellent price for these cameras make them a no-brainer. I am planning on selling my other outdoor security cameras and just purchasing one of these, as they are just so simple and easy to use, and I certainly like having all of my security on the same system. This is one of the few products I have obtained in the past decade or so that I have no thoughts for how it could be improved, simply because it is such an excellent and solid camera.

Their is lots of options you can play around with such as the spotlight. Whether you want it to turn on or not. You can also talk to someone via the microphone within the camera. Can even sound an alarm if needed. I haven't tried the alarm though because I don't want to bug the neighbors testing it out. I like that you can also do live view anytime you'd like. It loads pretty quickly as well. Nightvision has great visuals as well. The list goes on and on with all you can do with these quality cameras. The reason I dropped a star is because you can't change the notification sound. It's only the sound you place for all your notifications. This could cause a camera notification to go unnoticed because it sounds like every regular notification. Also, when you snooze the camera it still records. You just wont see the notification on your phone or hear the notification sound. This can eat up the battery. I guess it could be a good thing though if you ever need to look back. All in all, I can't complain too much because it's such good quality and definitely recommend it.

I run a number of eufy home devices and the eufyCam 3s integrate with them seamlessly through the app. I started off with the doorbell and then quickly added the lock, indoor pan and tilt camera, and now these two cameras to the collection. The video from the other devices is very good but these 4K cameras are definitely a step up. You can zoom into the scene much more effectively and see details further away. Setup was done super easily by just following the prompts in the app. Plug in the base station and pair the cameras one at a time and you're ready to go! The video from the other devices is very good but these 4K cameras are definitely a step up. You can zoom into the scene much more effectively and see details further away. Setup was done super easily by just following the prompts in the app. Plug in the base station and pair the cameras one at a time and you're ready to go! The included base station is great for really expanding your storage especially since these cameras are more likely to catch something of interest being mounted outside. Speaking of mounting, that's another great feature of this setup. Since they have solar panels built in just find a stable place within range of your Wi-Fi and a bit of exposure and screw em in! So very simple, no wires to run or batteries to worry about. I will likely be purchasing more cameras from eufy in the future to expand my system as needed.
This kit comes with 2 solar-powered IP67 weatherproof wireless 4K S330 cameras, an S380 HomeBase with 16gb of onboard storage, and two mounting bases. The cameras have a solar panel on top, and a USB-C charging port and threaded mounting hole on the back. The battery is not removable. Around the front is an LED spotlight and the 4K camera lens surrounded by a blue ring. The mounting bases can be attached using 2 screws. The HomeBase is small and the top of it pops off to add a 2.5” hard drive or SSD. There are two USB ports (one supporting USB3), a network port, and a status indicator on the front. Both the cameras and base can emit an audible siren if an alarm is triggered. I really like that the user expandable storage can be internal. == Setup == The first thing ... MoreThis kit comes with 2 solar-powered IP67 weatherproof wireless 4K S330 cameras, an S380 HomeBase with 16gb of onboard storage, and two mounting bases. == Setup == The first thing I did was add a 1TB 2.5” SATA hard drive that I had salvaged from a busted laptop so I could store more video. After two weeks, the drive is only a tenth full so it would seem 1TB is going to be plenty for two cameras. Then I plugged the Homebase into my router using an ethernet cable and powered it on. The cameras need to charge for 8 hours prior to first use. Only one charging cable is included so use another to do both simultaneously. You can charge one from the base itself. You will need the eufy app from the Google or Apple app store to sync the cameras to the base. To set up the cameras you scan a QR code on the bottom of the Homebase, however the QR code is tiny and a slightly darker gray than the gray plastic it is printed on. I had trouble getting it to scan without moving the base near a window for better lighting. Once the cameras are connected you can mount them in their permanent location. This is where I learned that the Homebase and cameras are not able to connect to a Wi-Fi network. I have issues where one camera has trouble recording or playing live video unless I put the base station literally in the window at the front of the house. If the base at least supported a Wi-Fi connection I could place it in a more central location where both cameras would be in range, instead of being limited by the network wire. Ideally, the cameras themselves would support connecting to your existing Wi-Fi network to take advantage of the wireless infrastructure already in place and then it wouldn't matter where the base was located. == Performance == The app works well. You are able play live video or view recorded events from either camera. The video quality is good, better than most security cameras I have used. All the recording happens locally on the base meaning you do not have to pay any subscription fees, although they do offer cloud recording if you need it. The night recordings have been as impressive as in the daytime, with the built-in spotlight helping to illuminate the scene with some color versus relying solely on black and white night vision. The BionicMind AI detection is a feature that helps identify people from pets and vehicles. For people, it will list a person’s name if you have previously identified that face in the app. It will also find faces, pets, and vehicles and take a zoomed in snapshot for you for easier recognition. You can set up activity zones that will help filter out unwanted recordings (like cars going down the street) or a particularly cool feature is the ability to block out certain areas of the video, for example if you want to respect your neighbor’s privacy. I didn't end up using the included mounts since I was able to fit these onto two mounts that I used for a previous system. While they are partially covered by eaves on my roof this so far has not affected the solar charging capability to the point of being an issue. They have been going strong for two weeks now and I really like the solar dashboard feature that lets you monitor the solar efficiency. One downside I have noticed is the fan can be noisy in the base unit. I’m not sure if it’s because the older hard drive that I am using gets particularly hot or if this is normal but I will hear it spin up from time to time. Finally, I was disappointed to learn that this model does not support Apple HomeKit, only Alexa and Google Home. I use HomeKit exclusively in my home so unfortunately I will not be able to see these cameras alongside my other security cameras (that are about 5 years old and from a competitor.) It was even more frustrating to learn after a bit of research that eufyCam 2 supports HomeKit, but this newer version does not. == Pros == 4K Resolution No Subscription Required (optional cloud subscription) AI Object Identification Solar Powered Hard Drive is Concealed in Base Spotlight Anti-theft Alarm Two-way Audio == Cons == Base fan can be noisy No Wi-fi connectivity No HomeKit Support == Overall == The well-designed app plus quality of the video recording and no subscription fees makes this a compelling security camera kit. However, the lack of Wi-Fi connectivity and Apple HomeKit support could be a deal-breaker for some.
When it comes to security cameras there are so many options and all of them have different advantages and disadvantages. One nice thing about wires NVR systems is that you do not have to worry about charging the cameras or paying for a subscription. However, wireless cameras are typically easier to set up and can be placed just about anywhere, but many of them require a subscription for online storage and have to be charged. I believe these Eufy cameras were made to reduce some of those concerns and bridge the gap between the two. Setting up these cameras is a fairly simple process. I believe these Eufy cameras were made to reduce some of those concerns and bridge the gap between the two. Setting up these cameras is a fairly simple process. The base station comes with 16GBs of storage which is enough for multiple days’ worth of storage based on settings and activity. However, you can drop in a 2in hard drive and easily expand this storage. I personally put a 2TB hard drive and this allows me to have months’ worth of video coverage stored without having to overwrite that. Eufy also gives you the option to pay for cloud-based storage which also includes other benefits such as 24/7 advanced monitoring. The cameras come with all the hardware needed for mounding and can easily be screwed into your house within minutes. I have my base station on one side of my house and a camera on the complete other side outdoors and there are no connection issues at all. The range is superior. Since this is a wireless system, they cameras are battery powered. One of my favorite features is that they have mini solar panels on the top of each camera to help them charge up a few percent per day. Eufy claims they will last 365 days. Although I have only been testing them for about a week, I am down to 93% battery. The way my house sits they are not able to get the most sunlight. However, I still think even if they can last 3-6 months that is a decent length of time. If you live somewhere that gets a lot of sunlight or are able to put it in a better spot more directly in the sunlight then I have no doubt you would never need to charge these cameras. These cameras have 4K video quality capability and many smart features. One of my favorite features is that you are able to add a picture of someone and then it will detect when it sees that person. I have added myself and other members of my family and overall, it is good at recognizing when it sees that person. It also does a great at recognizing vehicles, animals, and humans and you are able to filter out notifications from each category if you would like. I only found two downsides to these cameras and it could be user error but no matter what I tried I was not able to fix the issue. The first is that when it is dark out, the cameras have a harder time picking up motion. During the day I did not have any issues but if I walked in front of the cameras during the night it was hit or miss on whether or not it picked me up even when I turned the motion detection to max sensitivity. The other issue is that I was hoping to utilize the spotlight feature but the only setting I was able to find had it flashing when it detected motion. I was looking for it to have a solid spotlight when it detected motion during the night. Again, it could be user error and I am continuing to try and play with the settings. If you are in the market for cameras and are looking for a highly capable system then I would definitely take a look at the Eufy Cam. These cameras are easy to set up, easy to use and are versatile and can be used without limitations. One of my favorite features is that if you do not want to pay for a monthly service, then you can still monitor them through the app and all of the footage is stored on the home base.
One star off given because expensive and should have included a charger for each camera as well a stronger mounts. I used my own generic mounts that are of better quality and more able to support these heavy cameras. I believe the cameras are hefty due to the built in solar charging capability. The charging so far seems to work once I fully charged up each camera off AC power, no need to charge via AC. The areas I placed them get on average on sunny days about 4 -8 hours easily of sunlight. Much less on cloudy or overcast days but so far no issue, sure winter months might be different. I like the solar capability, think that is a nice game changer to have it built in. The cameras seem durable and as for the solar panels, time will tell. I can always buy some ... MoreOne star off given because expensive and should have included a charger for each camera as well a stronger mounts. The camera-wide angle, 4K resolution, night/day all I. Color are all top notch. The iOS app is fair to slightly above average to use. The connection is rock solid so far and I have very bad/weak router and only internet provider speed of 100…so I not understand others with wifi issues. If you can Get this on sale for under $400, a steal. Come on no subscription and a good iOS app.

I cannot accept this flow specially when paying $$$$I did played in camera settings with all the settings and sensitivity.I do prefer to spend time getting thru lots of unwanted recording than none at allI did two-star review that the cameras have nice build quality, packed nicely and WHEN they are actually recording, they are good. Just don't capture everything over 10 m.
Took a few days to get this installed. I want to make sure and get it done right. So I did the beginning and got a professional finish the rest, just never been my thing. Once I got the system up and running it's fantastic. It's simple, shoots great video and the AI has great sensor motion pickup, that's the best way I can think to describe it. Noticeable size or distinction. The camera doesn't really bother otherwise. The video is amazingly clear when I play it back on my phone, not to mention my lady has an iPhone and it shows up even better on her phone and I'm not an iPhone person. I can admit the video looks amazing. Outside of setup, I found the system to be easy to navigate the account easy to set up, amazing security system for something quick, fast, easy ... MoreTook a few days to get this installed. The coolest thing is the rechargeable with the solar panels on top. That can be a little tricky. Have to make sure and put the camera somewhere where you can get some exposure and some sunlight. So a high altitude angle makes sense and and make sure that the camera gets all of the solar energy and not glare in your shot. Highly recommend system.
I am really impressed with this system after having used it now for 1.5 weeks. My previous system was a few Nest cameras with the $100/year subscription through Google. Pros: -Video quality is great. I'm coming from 1080p video. -AI performs well - I'm getting notifications for family members, animals, and strangers. This helps me determine whether I need to open the app or if I can safely ignore the notification. -Local storage is the main reason I purchased these over other options. I'm fed up with giving all of my info to 3rd parties for analysis all the time. Pulling back the curtain one device at a time. -Easy to setup -iOS app works pretty well. A few extra clicks hear and there to set things up, but nothing a slight-techy couldn't figure out. -Solar panel ... MoreI am really impressed with this system after having used it now for 1.5 weeks. It makes for a cleaner install than having a separate panel, and reduces wires/chances for individuals to pull cables to turn off the camera before criminal activities. Cons: -Cameras are pretty big and take some planning to mount. -Something I'm keeping an eye on is that the cameras need to be mounted more exposed to elements than the Nest cameras to maintain sunlight for charging. I am curious how these will standup over a few years in the elements.
