Exped DeepSleep Mat 7.5

The Exped DeepSleep Mat 7.5 self-inflating mattress provides excellent warmth and soft cushioning for year-round camping and does so at a price that won't break the bank. The mattress's open-cell foam core provides a 3' sleeping base and makes inflation easy. Comfy camping for two

I have used this sleeping pad on a two night camping trip and I'm so pleased with my purchase. After extensive research on double sleeping pads, I decided on the Exped Duo 7.5. It's easy to inflate and deflate and while it is bulky, it's not difficult to get back into it's sack when not in use. For this reason, it's perfect for car camping or even throwing out on the floor at home, but not realistic for back packing. I love the texture of the top fabric. I'm able to set up and take down by myself even with my small lady hands. I never felt the ground or needed to add additional air after initial setup, but my boyfriend said his hip did dig down a bit when he was on his side. There was plenty of room for both of us! That being said, I am interested in looking into an additional foam topper to put on top of this pad (I have chronic neck/back issues so I always wake up sore, no matter how good the sleeping pad is. I think some extra foam would help me here.) I definitely recommend this item!

Moosejaw. Perfect timing with the delivery 👍🏾 Great pad. I brought the pad for winter camping. We were camping in a forest on the east coast with cool nights and warm days. I had to test the pad out before winter. I was extremely pleased. The name says it all. Crazy enough. I actually was in a deep sleep for 7.5 hours in bear country. Imagine that! The R Value is 7.5 . Very comfortable/warm pad paired with a summer sleeping bag. I'm a side sleeper and the 3 inches was perfect. I have had other 3 inch pads. This pad is a solid 3 inches. I never felt the hard ground.Self inflation time was really good. I did have to add some air.

I bought this because my partner and I were going on our first camping trip together, and he didn?t have a sleeping pad. I?ve been house-sitting for a couple months, and this pad gave me a better sleep on the floor than the bed. It probably got down into the mid-40s overnight, and between the mat and the doubled sleeping bags we were warm enough. I definitely feel like the mat reflects heat back toward the body. It?s also been great to have a spare spare bed. My brother came to visit with an injured back and was unable to sleep on an actual bed, but the mat provides enough that he was able to use it on the floor during his stay.

Exped DeepSleep Mat 7.5 Duo mattress

We both LOVE this mattress! This thing fits perfectly in the back of our 4runner. Really like the ability to deflate and roll it up, put the little compression straps on and place it in its stuffsack all while staying in the back of the vehicle. The mattress does "self-inflate" to a point, then we use the little hand pump that is made for it. The fabric is tough so I can see this lasting us a long time. We keep it lying flat on our spare bed when we aren't traveling with it. The compression straps make putting it into the stuffsack very easy.

Four Stars from a non-camper!

First, let me say that I hate camping. I love spending my days in the great outdoors and my nights in the great indoors. However, occasionally I am pressed into service as a camper, so here we are.I would say from a thermal comfort standpoint this pad is excellent. I was actually a bit warmer in Teton Canyon than I wanted to be as a result of the mat. A nice feature unless you're camping somewhere like Arizona!I would say it is also great cushioning if you sleep on your back or stomach, but lacking a bit if you sleep on your side. If you aren't backpacking (which, frankly it's too bulky for backpacking), bring an additional layer of padding if you're a side sleeper.

Great comfortable and warm pad for car camping
26 November 2022

I just bought two of these for a yearly family camping trip (medium double and the long wide double). Both sizes work well for adults (fairly thin and tall adults). The Medium Double size pad is small for the REI Hunkerdown 20 dual sleeping bag so we bought the Long Wide Double and it fits just right. Pads were very warm and very comfortable especially as compared to single backpacking blow up pads. These are comparable and could double as a home blow up bed. Size is grossly different. No way to take backpacking as it would take up the entire backpack. One of them got really wet during our raining camping trip and two people held over a fire and flipped it back and forth and the external material dried out extremely quickly. Oh my Nemo pump bag snapped perfectly ... MoreI just bought two of these for a yearly family camping trip (medium double and the long wide double). Oh my Nemo pump bag snapped perfectly into the valve opening and I used it to air these pads up. Pads do not come with a means to air up the pad. Airing up saves effort if you lay out and open valve and let the pad partially self inflate before trying to pump up manually. These pads do take strength to roll up and fit into the bag due to the resistance of the air inside the pad escaping.

Best mat for the price vs. comfort! The DeepSleep is solid foam inside, no air cores; as such, it's got a higher R-value than the MegaMat. Super light for it's size and thickness, super comfy, especially for side-sleepers. While this sort of mat might be classified as a basecamp mat, I find it light enough to hike with for the added comfort. I'm not as young as I used to be, and sleeping on rocks doesn't seem as fun as it used to be either. Protip: Open it the night before and let it fully inflate before you go hiking. Sets up faster that way as the foam will not have relaxed as much. Either way, pop the inflation valve open and wedge the little handle into the valve as the first thing you do once your tent is erected. If you've got the space for mat of this size (packed) you cannot go wrong with it. Its foam encased in adurable fabric nylon skin essentially. It's pretty warm, your skin does not stick to it. Dog hair sticks to it so heads up on that. Overall I have no worries about the durability of this mat.I let it self inflate on its own and if it's not ready in time I use a small manual air mattress pump that fits the inflate valve perfectly. Size does matter...
7 November 2022

I first purchased and returned the 30x77" size in this pad as I was trying to find something to fit the Big Agnes Echo Park sleeping bag and (despite their assertion to the contrary), the larger DeepSleep was just too big. Large, but comfortable and very quiet. So I thought I'd try the 25x72", thinking I'd have great success. Wrong. It was still warm and quiet, but I had a terrible nights' sleep on it and could never quite get the cushioning "dialed in." I'm 5'9" and 165 lbs. I'm returning it and trying another pad. But if you're looking for a great car camping pad, get the biggest size and you might be very happy.

The ideal sleep system
1 December 2022

I purchased this in 2020 looking to update my sleep system. I can confirm it has REVOLUTIONIZED our sleep while camping. Exped makes fantastic and durable sleeping mats. The size is great for 2 adults, plus a >2 child in the middle. It gets a bit crowded when you add a second baby. It's very comfortable and is fairly compact for the overall size. Definitely worth the money and if you don't enjoy sleeping in your tent this will definitely change that. The only con is the size. Even rolled up, it is a significant size. Outside of that, it's been great.
