This was supposed to be an upgrade of the original Epson Nasal Mask, although it looks the same it's very different from the previous version.I took my new F&P Eson 2 Nasal CPAP/BiPAP Mask with Headgear on vacation with me and was kept awake all night with hissing from leaks. I would frequently have to shut off the machine and reposition (reseat) the mask to get a tight fit which would only last a few minutes and start leaking again. Sure I've had to adjust the older model, but only once or twice a night and frequently not at all. I've worn the earlier version of this mask for 5 years, and have never before had my wife wake me because of that mask whistling from the air leaks. Hopefully Eson does not stop making the previous version.

The Eson 2 has stayed in place much better on me than the Resmed N20 that I tried, and it seals better on me than either the Resmed N20 or the Resmed Mirage FX. Of course, your mileage may vary since everyone's face is different. Unfortunately, this mask left a big red mark on the bridge of my nose even though I didn't feel like it was overly tight. Liquicell cushions eliminated that problem, so this mask is still a better fit for me than the ResMed masks. I just wish it was more comfortable without any extra comfort accessories. The quality is top notch. The headgear is very comfortable and well-made. It's worth a try if you want a nasal mask.

As a CPAP user for over a decade, I have experienced several recognized brands of masks. This iteration from this New Zealand manufacturer is so light and comfortable that I initially awoke during the night on several occasions because I believed that it had fallen off because I could not hear that all too common whooshing sound that my mask can make after my face rolls on the pillow and it loosens, nor could I feel it pressing against any part of my face, upper lip, or head. FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, I DID NOT HAVE TO READJUST AND TIGHTEN THE MASK TO CREATE A SEAL. IT SEEMS TO SEAMLESSLY FLOAT ON MY FACE. Yes, I paid three times more for this mask than I did for my usual, go to, one when it is on sale, but without a doubt, this mask has it all; effortless comfort, economy of size and weight, superior head gear material, and the excellent customer service people at Direct Home Medical available to answer any and all questions. And, yes, their 30 day keep it or send it back guarantee applies. I really dont know how to put this, but I feel like my CPAP mask quest is over because I have finally found home.

I've been using this mask for about 4 or 5 nights after having used Eson 1 masks for years. I have to admit, I'm struggling a bit to say this version is better, though I desperately want it to be. The addition of a hose swivel coupling should be great, and was improvement enough to make me switch. But really, it does not seem to improve hose mangement in bed all that much. I do not like the improved diffuser at $18 each for replacement. The Eson 1 has a much less expensive design... not as slick, but effective. My leakage rates are about the same as with the Eson 1, both being acceptable. But my events rates seem to be on the rise with this new mask, and I cannot figure out why. Honestly, I do not have much data to rely on; I just created a ResMed myair account early this month (Oct), so it's only been a few weeks. But for these five nights of usage, I three of them fall into my top 4 event rates. Perhaps it will level out with time.I must say that Easy CPAP was extremely easy to order from, and with the most reasonable of prices. Shipping was only $3, and I received the mask in about 4 days via USPS, Florida to New York. I will order from them again.
I have used the Eson 2 Nasal Mask for a few months, the Eson 1 for several years. Biggest benefit from Eson 2: I no longer get strap marks on my face that last half the day, or a mark on my forehead from the hard plastic of the mask. The strap system is simpler to use, the unit is comfortable, and the mask is easier to wash and maintain. The nasal cushion has positioning nubs that prevent wrong-way installs, but is not cross-compatible with the Eson 1. My May 2019 Eson 2 has a couple of design issues that were not problems with the Eson 1: 1. The filter at the swivel seals okay, but pops off during use about once a week. 2. The forehead strap attachment prong broke after several months of use. It has more force on it than the Eson 1, but is thinner. Once these bugs get fixed the Eson 2 will be a significant improvement on the Eson 1.
The Eson 2 is similar to the ResMed FX I've used for years. It seals a little better and is quieter than the FX. It could be a little deeper - the end of my nose hits the hard plastic at the nozzle and it needs to be pulled out once it fills with air to be comfortable. I wish it had clips at the elbow like the FX to make it easier to disconnect & reconnect the hose from the mask. Pushing and pulling on the hose can dislodge the filter which costs $18-20 to replace if you lose or damage it.
I was disappointed when Phillips Respronics discontinued the Comfort classic mask. I had been using it for about the last 8 to 10 years. Every time I tried a new mask it wasn't as good as the Comfort Classic. I was afraid I wouldn't find an acceptable new mask. The Eson 2 from Fisher and Paykel is a great mask. I toss and turn in the night and I have facial hair. The mask does not leak! My old mask I had to wear it very tight. This one I don't.I tried the medium and the large. Both work but the large fits a bit better.I think I have found my new mask. (Been sleeping with it for about a week now.
I find this mask not as good as the original Eson. I'm using it with the Resmed 9 machine, which has a pretty ridged hose. The Eson2 has a tendency to bind on the swivel around the outside edges, and when it does, can pull away and cause air leaks. Rather annoying. The only real solution is to use an unheated but more flexible tube, or get a mask with it's own small length of flex tubing, such as the Respironics Wisp. That will be my next choice.
My sleep specialist had me switch from the Eson to the Eson2 a couple of years ago so I figured I'd add my thoughts. When everything works it's better than the original. It doesn't ever leak or whistle at the elbow joint the way the old one sometimes did. The straps are more comfortable and easy on my skin. The filter is washable so all you need are a couple of extras to rotate through. The main downside of this headgear is that the little prongs that hold the forehead straps in place are very fragile. This is a reoccurring issue with the frame and I've had to replace it multiple times due to this problem alone. In fact I always keep a backup on hand after one evening when I had to do emergency repairs with one of those little UV resin pens because I absolutely ... MoreMy sleep specialist had me switch from the Eson to the Eson2 a couple of years ago so I figured I'd add my thoughts. This is a reoccurring issue with the frame and I've had to replace it multiple times due to this problem alone. In fact I always keep a backup on hand after one evening when I had to do emergency repairs with one of those little UV resin pens because I absolutely can't function without using my CPAP every night. Other negatives- Sometimes the filter pops off in the middle of the night. Also the hose connector doesn't have the quick disconnect part that lets you unsnap and keep your headgear on when you get up to pee. If you are on a budget and can't afford to replace headgear parts at a moment's notice I would advise sticking with the original Eson.
I use the Fisher and Pykel Eson 2 mask. I find the mask very comfortable and I sleep in many positions. My problem is the clip on the top of the frame is made of thin plastic the clip tends to break on the left side when trying to adjust the straps. I been a user for a couple of years and have gone through 5 or 6 frames. Now in the time of Coved 19 the frames are hard to find and the lowest price I have found is $48.00 most sellers get $60.00. The next I am eligible for a new mask from Medicare. I am going to a different mask and this makes me sad because the Eson 2 is a very comfortable mask to live with.
