When Resident Evil 4 came out in 2005 it absolutely blew me away. The game was and still is spectacular. On the GameCube it was a showcase for the processing power of the system, on the Wii the graphics look rather muddy and dated which is why players shouldn't pay more than the bargain price of twenty dollars for this game. When RE4 was initially released my only issue with the game was that it wasn't scary. Rather than dwell on the various merits or deficiencies of the game I decided to focus on just one aspect which is surely the biggest enhancement for the Wii version, that being control.Anyone who has played first person shooters on both game consoles and PC's knows that the PC is the undisputed king. The mouse/keyboard combination has never been equaled by any game controller. It's been a few years since I played Resident Evil 4 on my GameCube but my initial reaction was that the Wii remote was a sizable improvement. The Wii remote feels much more precise and intuitive than the GC controller but it still falls short of the mouse/keyboard combination. When you want to fire your weapon you need to hold the B button and press A. The problem is that when B is held your character is immobilized. The nunchuck controller switches from controlling your body motion to controlling the pivoting of your torso. You can turn in any direction for firing including up down, left and right but your feet are cemented to the ground so no running and gunning. Ironically even with both hand.

First thing - this game is really difficult for newbies to the gaming world. As adults with our first game system, we purchased several games in different genres for our new Wii system. We bought one of the other Resident Evil titles and loved it, so this one seemed like a natural choice due to the rave reviews and the first person shooter perspective. I love the graphics here - it's very easy to get sucked into the world and the feel of the game without question. Especially if you have the opportunity to set it up on a Hi-Def large screen television - gorgeous. However, this is a hard game! It's not a game for beginners unless you just enjoy frustration and shrieking at the tv and starting over again and again and again. The little tricks and subtle ins and outs that long time gamers all pick up as they play game after game after game hours on end seem to be needed and assumed for Resident Evil 4. That in and of itself is not a dealbreaker, just something I wish I had known ahead of time - I would have waited and purchased this game later on. What ended up happening is we got frustrated and stuck at the first village, stopped playing the game for a couple of months, conquered some others, learned some gaming tricks in general and have now come back to Resident Evil 4 with a fresh perspective and attitude and we're enjoying it much more the second time around. So.... not a game a for first timers, but one worth playing when you've gotten your feet wet elsewhere first.

Playing really cool games that will addict you for hours on the Wii is hard to come by for some reason. Even though Wii consoles manage to continually sell by the boatloads, there still really isn't much offered in terms of content worth playing for adults on the console. Enter RE: 4 for the Wii. Yes, its the same game from the PS2 version. Yes it's the same in terms of graphical amazement. But what's different this time around is simply this: it's the same resident evil formula with crappy acting and random nonsense story lines that make this game just that much more awesome. And in terms of graphics, sure its no Madden 09 quality showing on the next gen consoles, but its still damn good for what its worth. So getting down to it, what makes it work? The control schematics is really really fun. There's something sinister deep down inside human beings to find joy to blast off a monsters head with a sniper rifle and have it splatter (stop lying to yourself you know you love it ^.~). Even though there was nothing wrong with the aiming mechanism on the previous consoles it was on before, on the Wii its more reminiscent of the house of the dead series and arcade shooting style type of games. It's even more fun when you have accessories like a perfect shot as well... it just well feels more realistic and accurate. So what are the pros and cons then? Well for some, its the same game over again, so thats a drawback. And others will say you move around to slow and etc etc. But on the.

This is without a doubt the best Resident Evil game since RE2. It's got a creative and different setting, it brings back RE's best hero (Leon!), it manages to be spooky while still playable. There's no questions this game has some difficult sections when you play through the first time. As with all survival horror, you start barely armed, have to hoard ammo and use it carefully (no first-person shooter, this, you need to be clever). As the game goes on you gradually get better weapons, but the enemies get stronger. On a re-play, of course, you start with a full boat of weapons, so the game is MUCH easier on successive plays; but here's one of the strengths of RE4. The plot and graphic design make it a pleasure to re-play, and the money element lets you play (in effect) for score, gathering up as much as you can without wasting it on things you don't need. You also have the choice of keeping lesser weapons to challenge yourself (I'm now playing it with the knife as much as I can, just to prove I can beat lower enemies with no gun). This game has something we've never had in RE; the ability to buy and upgrade weapons. Where other games were all about getting away from the enemies in many scenes, this one encourages more fighting because enemies drop items (money or supplies). While this takes away an element that's fun and creepy (run away! run away!), it trades this for a better fighting game where you HAVE TO kill enemies in many cases. The weapons available are all entertaining.
After proving to be the greatest Resident Evil game of all time when released last year on the Gamecube, Resident Evil 4 makes it's bloody debut on the PS2, and the good news is that it retains just about every excellent feature that made Resident Evil 4 a game so good that it was worth buying a Gamecube for alone. The first thing you'll notice is that the graphics aren't as mouth watering as they were on the Gamecube, but RE4 still looks amazing in this PS2 conversion. You play as Leon Kennedy, six years after the Raccoon City disaster of Resident Evil 2, and you're on a mission to rescue the President's daughter. You're led to a creepy town where the locals, well, let's just say they're not too happy to see you. I don't want to say much more about the story so not ... MoreAfter proving to be the greatest Resident Evil game of all time when released last year on the Gamecube, Resident Evil 4 makes it's bloody debut on the PS2, and the good news is that it retains just about every excellent feature that made Resident Evil 4 a game so good that it was worth buying a Gamecube for alone. I don't want to say much more about the story so not to ruin it for those who haven't played this, but make no mistake that it's the best storyline you'll ever see in a Resident Evil game. The enemies are challenging and the boss battles are nothing short of epic, making RE4 the most action packed edition of the series yet. The controls aren't as responsive as they should be, in fact, they can be downright clunky when they want to be, but for the most part they don't deter how amazing this game really is. Capcom threw in some extras here as well, including side missions where you can play as the mysterious Ada Wong and alternate costumes and such. Make no mistake, Resident Evil 4 is the best RE game ever made, and just like it was on the Gamecube, this PS2 c.
I have played many games thoroughout my life. Yes, it was enjoyable. While riding Epona and slashing with a sword then just the old fairie bow made killing enemies fantastic and brilliantly enjoyable, the bosses were far too easy and the game was boring from one part to another. Link seemed a little cheesy, and it just wasn't the same Hyrule we had grown up with in older T.L.O.Z releases. Then there was Soul Calibur II, Hitman II, and more that were fun (also the remastered Super Smash Brothers Melee) were nice. But they just weren't the same, something was missing.I had just picked up Resident Evil 4 a week ago, and couldn't stop playing it ever since. While Twilight Princess was agonizing and boring at parts, having to run around in no-enemy zones, you were constantly kept on your toes t.
I really, really hate reviews for re-released games that insult you for not having played the original when it was super popular. I had a PS2 and a Gamecube, but never got around to playing Resident Evil 4 on either of them. Then when I was reading reviews for RE4 on Wii it seemed like every reviewer was coming from the standpoint of "is it worth playing it _again_?" Some even insulted my gamer integrity, because of course you're not a REAL gamer unless you play every single popular game that comes out. Well I know I'm not the only one out there who hasn't played Resident Evil 4 before. This review is for you.The first thing I have to say is, I never played through any of the previous Resident Evil games because of their bizarro control scheme. The good news is, the controls in RE4 are straightforward and (I think) easy to use. For the most part it's a traditional over-the-shoulder third person shooter. The only thing that might strike some players as weird is that you have to hold in the B button to aim (which is done with the Wii Remote) and then press A to fire. It's a little cumbersome, but you get used to it fast. Aiming with the Wii Remote is very satisfying, but I imagine it does make the game a little easier than it was on PS2 and GC. My only gripe with the controls is that during some of the cutscenes you are prompted to swing the remote wildly or rapidly press buttons. Sometimes failing to do so results in instant death. These moments have a very die-and-retry quali.
Firstly, the game is great! It runs smoothly and looks phenomenal. I recommend this game for new and old Resident Evil fans alike. It is sure to become one of your favorite games in the franchise with its stunning visuals, fantastic cast, and horrifying locations and monsters. This ReMake follows the style that RE2 and RE3 had with its POV and combat, but it works well because RE4 was the first in the franchise to feature a third-person, over-the-shoulder perspective, but with modernized movement and controls. (Also, the game did have a visual glitch with popping colors along the bottoms edges of your screen. Do not worry, it was a video output glitch caused by the motion blur and depth of field settings, keep motion blur on and depth of field off. A patch should ... MoreFirstly, the game is great! A patch should have been issued as of May 2023.)I did have a problem picking up the game. When the employee grabbed the game, they ripped off the sticker, which I had never seen done before. Ripping off the sticker subsequently ripped off the plastic wrap around the game and also ripped a bit of the plastic cover around the box. I did not feel happy leaving the store, and later I get home and find out that the disc had a scratch on it. I was not satisfied with the condition of my game and I would prefer my products to be in mint condition and any damage to be caused by me and not an employee. Fortunately, Best Buy came in clutch by allowing me to exchange it for a crisp, clean copy. I had never had a pickup like that before, but Best Buy and their employees helped me out.
