Two years after that incident Leon is working as a government agent somewhere in rural Southwestern Europe. The motive for this particular mission is the disappearance of the US President's daughter; she was kidnapped in the States, but a rumor of a sighting in Europe causes the President himself to dispatch Kennedy. I'm back to playing Resident Evil 4 on PS2 a long time even after PS3's Uncharted and Uncharted 2, within a month of the release of Uncharted 3 (which I pre-ordered).RE4 is just excellent. Going back several years, I've finished it many times, as well as the extra games Assignment Ada and Separate Ways. After refamiliarizing myself with the controls, I'm enjoying RE4 again immensely. I never could beat Mercenaries, but I just saw in the Bradygames Guide that there are maps showing the locations of the extra seconds, ammunition, etc., so I plan to try that again, too.RE5 on the other hand was a total bust. RE4 is absolutely unique. Unless you stay on the move and keep looking around, you can get blind-sided and killed in the blink of an eye. You just can't relax. It engenders more suspense than any other game. The skill level has to be pretty high. You have to plan what weapons to buy, update, and select on the spur of the moment. You have to know which gun's ammunition to conserve. For example, you can never squander shotgun ammo, so you must sometimes use the less effective handgun. Times will come when you better have some rifle ammo, or forget it. Replay is much fun, applying the foregoing judgments.

Resident Evil 4 Remake is another smash success by Capcom, who can't seem to do much wrong with this series. The original was a major icon in gaming history and often considered one of the best games ever made, but the remake improves on essentially every aspect of it, changing elements in interesting and surprising ways that remain faithful to the original while making it simply better.Examples:-Gunplay is more dynamic, with new options such as parries, moving while a gun is drawn, and more.-Ashley's relationship with Leon and her gameplay incorporation are also both majorly improved. This also applies to the villains, such as Saddler, who has a much more religious feel and gravitas.-The changes to levels and progression make the game more well-paced than the original, already quite good in this area.-In terms of presentation, graphically the game is gorgeous with very granular graphical options that aid an already good optimization effort; music and sound are also quite good. There are, of course, some minor negatives:-Some performances, such as Ada's or Krauser's, seem to have lower audio quality and don't quite match up to the rest of the cast.-The level of improvement and change is inferior to that of RE2R. Of course this is because RE4 was already more modern to begin with, but you shouldn't expect too many major surprises.Overall, any fan of the Resident Evil series, horror, or action-adventure will want this game in their collection, and it's difficult to see how any future Resident Evil remake could hope to match such an amazing effort. Highly recommended to basically anyone who might be interested.

The original Resident Evil 4 has always been one of my favorite games of all time and this remake of the classic survival horror title only stands to reinforce my opinion. Everything from the chilling atmosphere to the cheesiness of the action set pieces has been reimagined faithfully in this beautiful game thanks to the powerful and versatile RE engine. The level design is top notch and encourages you to learn the layout of each room and strategize the best way to go about disposing or evading the enemies. Combat is very satisfying. It feels really good to get a headshot critical and see their head explode or unload a shotgun on a Ganado and just see their entire body be shredded. This is probably the best looking game I've seen and it runs amazingly on PC with no hitches on my machine on close to the highest settings. I am also really glad that they fleshed out more of the characters (Luis and Krauser) and hearing the banter between Leon and Ashley brings a grin to my face. I'm kind of upset that they cut the U3 boss, but hopefully when DLC gets released we will be able to see him all his glory in HD. Overall, I would still say I like the original just a wee bit more I still think this is an otherwise perfect game.
This is without a doubt the best Resident Evil game since RE2. It's got a creative and different setting, it brings back RE's best hero (Leon!), it manages to be spooky while still playable. There's no questions this game has some difficult sections when you play through the first time. As with all survival horror, you start barely armed, have to hoard ammo and use it carefully (no first-person shooter, this, you need to be clever). As the game goes on you gradually get better weapons, but the enemies get stronger. On a re-play, of course, you start with a full boat of weapons, so the game is MUCH easier on successive plays; but here's one of the strengths of RE4. The plot and graphic design make it a pleasure to re-play, and the money element lets you play (in effect) for score, gathering up as much as you can without wasting it on things you don't need. You also have the choice of keeping lesser weapons to challenge yourself (I'm now playing it with the knife as much as I can, just to prove I can beat lower enemies with no gun). This game has something we've never had in RE; the ability to buy and upgrade weapons. Where other games were all about getting away from the enemies in many scenes, this one encourages more fighting because enemies drop items (money or supplies). While this takes away an element that's fun and creepy (run away! run away!), it trades this for a better fighting game where you HAVE TO kill enemies in many cases. The weapons available are all entertaining.
After proving to be the greatest Resident Evil game of all time when released last year on the Gamecube, Resident Evil 4 makes it's bloody debut on the PS2, and the good news is that it retains just about every excellent feature that made Resident Evil 4 a game so good that it was worth buying a Gamecube for alone. The first thing you'll notice is that the graphics aren't as mouth watering as they were on the Gamecube, but RE4 still looks amazing in this PS2 conversion. You play as Leon Kennedy, six years after the Raccoon City disaster of Resident Evil 2, and you're on a mission to rescue the President's daughter. You're led to a creepy town where the locals, well, let's just say they're not too happy to see you. I don't want to say much more about the story so not ... I don't want to say much more about the story so not to ruin it for those who haven't played this, but make no mistake that it's the best storyline you'll ever see in a Resident Evil game. The enemies are challenging and the boss battles are nothing short of epic, making RE4 the most action packed edition of the series yet. The controls aren't as responsive as they should be, in fact, they can be downright clunky when they want to be, but for the most part they don't deter how amazing this game really is. Capcom threw in some extras here as well, including side missions where you can play as the mysterious Ada Wong and alternate costumes and such. Make no mistake, Resident Evil 4 is the best RE game ever made, and just like it was on the Gamecube, this PS2 c.
Resident Evil 4 was my first foray into the Resident Evil Universe. The characters and storyline, while not totally unfamiliar were for the most part entirely new to me. But this lack of previous history did not detract one bit from the experience. From the moment you emerge from the Police Vehicle until you escape at the end, I felt like I was on one fanastic "shooter" ride. The atmosphere and detail of the surrounding is first rate. Sounds are used to great effect both in scarying you as well as your first line of defense. The puzzles are straightforward enough that guys like me could figure them out in less than 50 tries and added to the overall enjoyment of the game. The additional characters were interesting and added some good spice to the story. And getting to play the President's daughter sans weapons was a nice touch. The fighting in this game is intense. There are traps galore and the female zombies with the chainsaws....good grief they are fast and deadly. The mine car ride and fight has to be one of the most thrilling I have ever experienced in a game. And perhaps the best aspect of this game has to be it's depth. It goes on and on and on. In fact, there were points, where I was just exhausted. Some of the major fights came so rapidly one after the next, that I just wanted 5 minutes of just walking around in order to rest.Overall, a really rich and exciting game that held my interest and kept coming back each night. So lock and load and be sure to mix your plants befo.
Loved it, more than I even expected. The combat system seems clunky at first, but once you learn it it becomes a lot of fun. Challenging but doable fun, the best kind! I've heard people complain that this game isn't 'horror' enough for a Resident Evil game. I played RE6 first, then this one, so maybe that makes it hard for me to tell, but it was definitely horrifying throughout the game. Particularly at night, when it's stormy. There were some action movie points, but no where near as much as RE6. This is a horror game!I thought escorting Ashley was going to be a major pain, it was the part of the game I looked forward to least. But it turned out to be pretty fun too. I wished they hid more tiny blue plates throughout the game, I love hunting those down. The campaign ... MoreLoved it, more than I even expected. I wished they hid more tiny blue plates throughout the game, I love hunting those down. The campaign kept going each time I thought it was coming to an end, and the bonus content ensures satisfaction. The shooting game you find in the campaign (near the merchant sometimes) was surprisingly great too, better than other shooting practice minigames I've seen (ME3, Dead Space).Ashley is a character I love to hate! I wish Ada would just die though, and I loved Sera. I also really loved the merchant, his hilarious voice, buying new weapons, and putting hidden treasures together to sell to ensure I'd have all the best gear...If ya'll like shooting monsters, I recommend you play this game!
Man, are all games like this or have I just set the bar really high by making Resident Evil 4 my first adult video game? This game is fun, scary, exhilarating....It's awesome.I finally got my first gaming system (PS3) last month. The only cool looking adult PS3 game is Resistance: Fall of Man. So before I crack that open, I'm thinking: "I liked the movies, the movies are based on the games, so why not try out RE4 to get started?"So, I pop open a cold one, sit down with my new RE4 game and proceed to have a heart attack from the terror it causes. No, not really. I'm old, but hopefully not that old.The game starts you (Leon) out in the woods in front of an old house on the outskirts of a Spanish speaking European village. Upon entering the house you are immediately attacked by a crazed local that doesn't seem to be a zombie. Based on the movies (and previous games from what I hear) you expect zombies. As you exit the house you are attacked by more locals (that will viciously kill you unless either you do them in first or safely make your way past). Zombies would have been a welcome adversary versus this unexpected enemy.A map is provided for you to follow to your chapter destinations. There are typewriters scattered sparsely through the game where you can save progress. As you make your way to the targe.
The original Resident Evil 4 is possibly my favorite game of all time. As such I have made it a point to own as many versions of it as I can; as silly as that sounds. My quest has brought me to finally obtaining the first PC port of Resident Evil 4. To my surprise, the disc worked right away on my Windows 10 computer without any additional hoops to jump through. I simply inserted the disc, went through the installer and then I was playing. The truth on this first PC version of the game is that it is arguably the worst version of the original Resident Evil 4. This is in direct contrast to the later PC version, the Ultimate HD edition, which is possibly the very best. Graphically and performance-wise, it is about on par with the PS2 version if not slightly weaker. It ... MoreThe original Resident Evil 4 is possibly my favorite game of all time. This is in direct contrast to the later PC version, the Ultimate HD edition, which is possibly the very best. Graphically and performance-wise, it is about on par with the PS2 version if not slightly weaker. It has the same concessions as the PS2 version with a noticeably lower enemy count and lower quality models/textures. That being said, it's still Resident Evil 4. I love the game so much that I still find a lot of charm in these more rustic versions of the game. At the end of the day, the same addictive core gameplay is there. I'm very happy that I finally own this version of the game and even happier that I had no trouble getting it running on a much later version of Windows.
