At first I thought this was an expensive "add-on" (I bought the litre size) but, once I'd worn my thermal skinny trousers, I realised it's an essential "add-on". The trousers are just brilliant : they keep me cosy and dry in all but the heaviest rain and, if I want to stay dry and cosy, then I needed to buy. I bought with my 2nd pair of thermal skinnies and use as recommended, ie not every wash.

I have washed a pair of olive skinny trousers twice using the wash and repel product. Both times the trousers have not been waterproof. According to the instructions a sizeable volume of the wash and repel has to be used each time so this product is expensive, especially when it fails to waterproof the garment.

This product is wonderful! đ€© I was a bit dubious about buying it but after 5 or so washes I thought my thermal skinny trousers were not as waterproof as when I purchased them. (my bum got damp sitting on damp ground)Itâs brilliant! Sooo pleased ⊠my thermal skinnies are just like new again. This wash and repel is definitely well worth buying. đđđ

The performance proofed is great when used in conjunction with Grangerâs performance wash and repel. Prepare the clothing items, when dry spray this on and place the garment in the dryer on âproofingâ and let it âset-offâ. Water beads off nicely and the garmentâs natural water proofing returns.
I typically used the NikWax spray on formula, but depending on application, found that there were still areas that would not bead water properly.I only used this once, and it works fabulously. Spray on didnât quite last as long either, so hopefully this does.The only down side is having to go through two wash cycles - cleaner, and repel, but if youâre not pressed for time, itâs a minor problem.
Compared to spray on, itâs roughly the same value, but it is a lot easier to use. I plan on using it for soft shells, or other items where breathability is inherent. One bottle is ~ 3+ applications, as it's a 300 mL bottle and it's recommended to use 100 mL per single garment (add 50 mL per extra grament)

However, beware that if you treat only a single item the product only contains enough for two treatments (6 capfuls) according to the instructions, which recommend 3 cap-full (150ml) of product to treat a single product. They recommend an additional cap-full for each additional item so a single unit of the product would not give you more than 1 treatment for multiple items treated simultaneously. 2 bottles would give you 3 treatments of two items treated simultaneously with no product leftover. I have been using this product. It works well. The issue I have is it requires four capfuls if using a top load wash machine (directions do not specify HE machine or not). Four capfuls is a lot to treat one coat. That is, I am guessing, about a third to a quarter of the bottle. At twenty plus dollars Canadian this is pricey.
It seems to do the job. I use it for my acai trousers and other rainwear tops. I just don't like the smell - for me it is like acetone. I also have asthma so it seems to trigger it when I pour it to the machine. It says it both washes and repels so I don't add other laundry products.
