These are the perfect texture to mold around whatever pill you have to give your dog. Kind of like playdough I guess. All of the flavors are pup approved in this house lol. You get a lot of them for what you pay and they stay nice and moist and have a strong smell (in a good way) so they must have a lot of flavor for the dogs. I always buy the capsule version (no matter if it's capsules or smaller tablets) because they are bigger and if I have a smaller tablet I can just use half of the pill pocket that way they last so much longer. The only complaint I have about this product is that it's not just peanut butter its first ingredient is chicken. Some dogs (including mine) are allergic to chicken. Unfortunately, when the vet gives you capsules you have to disguise it. Also, this one (peanut butter flavor) doesn't contain wheat which is another popular dog allergen. Life Saver

I have an 80+ pound dog that can wolf down a bowl of food, yet manage to leave a tiny pill still sitting in the bottom of the bowl. He's a strange one in that he chews more than most dogs, so the meds have to be hidden in something small enough that he will just swallow it or it gets spit out. I actually use half the pill pocket to make it smaller. I stick the pill in and roll into a little ball like a meatball. I also play another trick to help get him to swallow it. I'll pop that "meatball" in his mouth while keeping the 2nd piece visible in my hands so he's more focused on getting the 2nd piece rather than what's in his mouth. If he manages to find it and spit it out, which does happen rarely, then I keep working at it. Really great for dogs that struggle with medicine

These pill pockets are an almost literal lifesaver! My dog has to take three different kinds of heart medicine (along with a monthly heartworm/flea/tick prevention medicine). Two of the three heart medications are nice and small, but the third is a horse pill that she has to take 1 1/2 daily. I tried the "pill size" of these pockets, but it wasn't enough to hide the larger pills, though it worked well enough for the smaller ones. After surgery our dog had to take pills and the only way she would eat these pill pockets is if we rubbed turkey bacon all over the outside of the pill pocket. It's hit or miss with dogs and pills so what works for our dog might not work for yours. The soft moist texture allows you to squish and shape the pill pocket to try to fool your dog into eating it.We have had great success with giving a bite of meat, then a pill pocket, then another bite of meat in very rapid succession so they don't know what happened but it started and ended with bites of meat. I have six dogs, three of which are taking medications for various illnesses. I had been putting their medications (pills) in soft dog food so that they would take them, but lately, my three dogs seem to have gotten wise to the medications being in the food and would eat around where the medication was.
